Sunset Shimmer soon arrived at the entrance of CHS where she noticed the new girl Principal Celestia had told her about. Her hair was long and brown complimenting her blue-green eyes, her skin looked like a lighter tone of light grayish amber, her clothing consisted of a pink sweater with the Transgender flag on the left sleeve while on the right was what Sunset would call her cutie mark, if she were a pony, being a pencil writing down on a sheet of paper, her skirt was black and went down to her knees while her stockings were light brown and her high heels were black. Her accessories were that of some golden bracelets, one on each of her wrists and two around her ankles, and a single sash backpack.
She looked to be listening to music on her tablet, so trying not to be rude Sunset went over to her to try and get her attention.
"Kamen Rider, Dragon Knight, together we can fight the fight, so let's ride!"
"Excuse me?"
The girl then looked up to Sunset and quickly stopped playing her music and took off her headphones as she got up rather fast almost like as if she was standing at attention.
"Oh! Um, sorry, I was-"
"No need to apologize, I'm Sunset Shimmer, what's your name?"
"Um... I'm REDACTED REDACTED...."
"REDACTED REDACTED? That's a bit of an odd name, but that's not important. Principal Celestia told me you were new here and wanted me to give you a tour of the school to help you get a feel of your first time here,"
"That's... uh... rather nice of them..."
"You're not much of a talker are you?" Sunset asked with a bit of a chuckle.
"I... I... I don't exactly do first impressions that good... I usually just like to stay out of peoples way until everything's been resolved..."
"Sorry to say this, but I wonder how you even managed to make any friends with that kind of attitude,"
"I... I actually had a lot of friends... but... I... I'm not good at talking to people I've n... never met before..."
This gal makes Fluttershy look like Pinkie by comparison, Sunset thought.
"Let me ask you this then," Sunset asked as they began to walk, "What was life like back at your old school?"
"Um... well... uh... I... uhm..."
"Is something wrong?" Sunset asked raising an eyebrow.
"N... no... of... of... of course not..."
"Then why are you stuttering so much?" Sunset also asked, eyebrow still raised.
"Well... the... the thing is..."
The bell then rang and almost on instinct the new gal started running away.
"WAIT, HOLD ON!" Sunset shouted as she rushed after her in the now crowding hallway, "WATCH OUT FOR THAT-"
CRASH!!! It was too late, the new girl ran face first into a locker door leaving an imprint.
"WHOA! You okay?!" Flash asked as he closed his door in surprise and offered her a hand up.
To both Flash and Sunset's surprise the new girl... backed away. Almost in fear even.
"Hey, are you alright?" Sunset asked as she helped her up.
The new girl was just silent as she just seemed to stare at Flash. Her look was one that resembled a deer's caught in the path of a car light.
"Uh, REDACTED? Are you okay?" Sunset asked shaking her to get a response followed by a finger snap.
"I, uh, I gotta go, see ya!" Flash jeered before heading off.
Just then, the new girl seemed to break out of her trance as Sunset looked at her with an honest look of confusion.
"What the heck was that about?!" Sunset asked.
"What... was what about?"
"Why did you run off like that, and why did you lock up and back away when Flash tried to help you!?"
"Oh... well... I... have a bit of a habit..."
"Habit?"
"Back at GHS, we were on a strict 5 to 10-minute time limit in between classes and I always wanted to make sure I got there as quickly as I could to get whatever I needed done, done, before anyone else had arrived. It's helped me out of more jams than you can think,"
"Oh... well... what about Fla-"
Then, that's when Sunset noticed it. She was hugging the walls of the lockers. Why? Every time a guy passed by her she looked like she was about to wet herself. Was she possibly afraid of guys or something like that?
"Are you SURE you're alright? Is your head fine or anything-"
"I'm perfectly fine," she quickly replied to Sunset.
"You responded rather fast on that one,"
"Sunset... lockers aren't the first thing that my head has hit," she replied, "Now, please, can we get on with the tour? I don't like being in huge crowds..."
Something's not right with this girl...
As asked Sunset proceeded with the tour, the new kid holding onto Sunset's hand the whole way which made Sunset somewhat blush but not drunkard levels of blush since she knew the new kid was only doing it as a means to make sure she was safe because of not knowing the layout of the school. By the end of the day the tour was finished at the final bell was about to ring.
"Well I'm afraid this is where we must part ways," Sunset said letting go of the new kid's hand, "I'll give you a drop off at your parents house since the leave bell's about to-"
"NO!"
The sudden and loud no caught Sunset off guard.
"Huh?!"
"No.... please... just let me spend the day with you,"
"But your parents-"
"Th-they trust me enough... please... you're the only one I've spent so much time with since arriving here, just let me go with you back to your home!"
"Um... sure then..."
"Th-thank you!" The new kid went before hugging Sunset.
This is starting to get a little strange...
Sunset and the New Kid then signed out early and walked out towards the city. Along the way, Sunset tried to strike up a conversation by asking questions like what GHS was like, what her family was like, what it was like growing up, but no matter what and no matter how Sunset tried to word them, the new kid would either be evasive of her questions, try to change the subject, or shrug them off while talking about something unrelated to the question at hand. It was honestly starting to feel like she was talking to a telephone pole at this rate as she didn't seem to be getting anywhere any time soon, but she didn't want her first impressions on the new kid to be soured just because she's evading her questions. She was probably just being asked too much at once or was probably just not in the mood for it. Sunset respected that and from then on didn't ask any more questions but silently thought to herself about just why the new girl was doing it in the first place.
Soon enough they arrived at Sunset's apartment and turned on to the news for a bit while she made some PB&J Sandwiches for the both of them. Then came Sunset's biggest shock...
"Good evening I'm Robin Wishing Well,"
"And I'm John Quarterbacker, tonight's main story tonight is the continuing investigation behind the fire that burned down GHS,"
"What?!" Sunset went before noticing the new kid who looked shooked like as if she saw death right before her.
"John this is a tale of absolute tragedy, as the school had been burned down during a school day and resulted in mass damage to the school and resulted in the deaths of many lives,"
"At least 60 of the 1,000+ students attending were killed from either debris or the spreading fire along with 5 teachers, 180 students were injured along with 2 other teachers, and three are still missing, those being students Black Lily, Harvest Orchard, and Sketched Ink who are being considered as the prime suspects for this tragedy,"
"The sprinkler system showed signs of being vandalized as a wrench bearing the prints of Harvest Orchard was discovered by campus police soon after the fire had died down to safer levels. If you know anything about the location of these individuals contact the local authorities-"
The new kid turned the tv off, she looked like she was about to weep. And Sunset couldn't nescicerrily blame her. It had to be rough learning about what happened to your old school after you left it for something else.
"Look, if you want I can call your parents-"
"PLEASE NO!!!"
Sunset was taken aback.
"Please... no... I... I wanna spend the night with you... I... I used to have sleepovers all the time-"
"Well, you could've just said so,"
"Sorry..."
"Well if you want I could call my friends over-"
Sunset then noticed the new kid kind of go back a bit out of fright.
"Or... not... it's fine. We can take it slow if you want,"
The new kid just gave a simple nod. Once nightfall reached the new kid was sleeping like a rock, while Sunset was on social media. Why? Well with the New Kid being so abrasive with not telling her anything about her past, Sunset figured it was time to take matters into her own hands and find out what she could through the survivors of the GHS fire. It took a while, but she eventually found someone willing to chat. MyStable user Katline_Smitherines.
Hello? Are you there?
...
Don't worry. I just wanna ask some questions.
What kind?
Specifically about REDACTED REDACTED. She won't tell me anything related to her past and I'm trying to be her first new friend at Canterlot High.
...
Was it something I said?
You don't wanna go down that rabbit hole.
?!
What are you talking about?
I'll tell you one story from my life of her, but I'm telling you this now.
You.
Aren't.
Ready for the truth.
Bring it on.
Fine then. Don't say I didn't warn you.
It was September 12th, REDACTED our sophomore year...
