A hooded unicorn levitated a bunch of potions, a cauldron, some powders as it was raining and thundering. Some lightning clashed in the sky, illuminating the empty but beautiful landscape.
The unicorn stepped into a tent, lifted his hood away so he could see better. He gave a confident smile as he set his supplies down gently so they wouldn’t spill or break.
“Time for me to make my greatest creation yet!” the unicorn shouted with confidence as he laughed. He poured three different potions into the cauldron, sprinkled some glittery dust and mixed them together with a ladle.
“You, my creation, shall be heartless, seductive, manipulative and show no emotion. You are to do anything to have me succeed in world domination. Once someone buys the choker you’ll be stored in, you take control, and take whatever it takes to succeed. Your name will also be opposite the name of the pony that buys you.”
Suddenly some dark red smoke came out of the cauldron, it flowed slowly and absorbed into the heart shape of the choker. The heart was silver with swirls, another heart except smaller was a sapphire pink in the middle, the link was made out of velvet and was a dark fuschia colour.
The unicorn’s horn lit up in a bright red colour. The aura got bright and brighter until a laser beam zapped, like lightning on a stormy day.
“On the link, the inscription shall read ‘When you buy this choker, an entity in it shall be one to change your life’,” The beam finally stop writing what the unicorn had said, in calligraphy. “And time to get this to one of the jewellery merchants.”
The choker was placed gently into a small glass case, the small heart shining a little.
In Canterlot, the next day, RomanceWriter sat in her bedroom in her home that was located a little outside the town. She slowly read a book, a bored expression on her face.
“I must’ve read the same thing so many times I didn’t realise. Then again,” Romance turned her head to look at her bookcase. “The stories seem to be the same and even end that way too.” She sighed softly as she set the book down on the bedside table, beside the picture of one of her favourite pegasi racers. His usual curly black mane was slick back, his coat was an azure blue colour and his eyes were a dark chocolate brown. “I hope I see you race again next year, Rising Star.”
Romance smiled with a slight blush as she held the picture close to her chest. Although her fangirling with the sport did seem odd or funny to others, it was something that came naturally to her or it was passed down to her from her mother, Hoof Sparkle.
She walked to her window and noticed that there was a merchant’s tent on the street in Canterlot. It was coloured a shiny gold that the sun made it shinier and bright. It had purple swirls embroidered on the edges like it was old fashioned tent from a faraway country such as Pakisteed and Afghanisteed.
She walked downstairs to open her front door, locked it with a protection spell so nopony could use magic to unlock it. She trotted to the tent as a pegasus pony flew out of it with a gold chain necklace with a ruby in the middle of the pendant.
Romance gave a tilt of her head and walked in. The room in the tent was large and there were necklaces, rings and earrings, all in glass cases. A merchant pony had a hood over their head as they were looking through piles of parchment and polishing jewellery.
Romance walked around, looking at the glass cases, spotting a silver necklace with a emerald green heart in the pendant, a gold ring with a sapphire blue stone, another silver necklace with a dark blue heart which looked similar to one she read in a story.
“Wow, so much jewellery. I may not be one for it but I need to spend my money on something.”
She kept walking, looking at more of the jewellery until her eyes were set on a choker. The link was made out of velvet and was a dark fuschia colour and the heart was silver with swirls and a small sapphire pink heart in the middle of it.
Something told her to buy the choker but she wasn’t sure what the feeling was. It certainly wasn’t a romantic feeling, she broke up with her coltfriend not long ago, she was glad she did so. It also wasn’t a feeling giving her a warning because if so, she would’ve just left and gone back home.
She walked to the glass case to take a closer look, The merchant pony who sat behind the counter, noticed her and walks to stand at her side.
“Interested in that choker?” the pony asked and Romance turned to them a little. A shiver ran down her spine as if warning her that the pony was not as they seem.
“Ummm… yes. It looks really pretty.” Romance replied a little softly and shakily but managed with a small smile. The merchant pony nodded slightly and used magic to open the case and levitate the choker out. It was a bright red colour, a similar colour to another pony’s she knew except they weren’t a unicorn.
Both the pony and Romance walked to the front desk, the choker set down gently. Romance levitated her saddlebag, looking through the bits she had and it was so much, she couldn’t tell how much she had exactly.
“That’ll be sixty bits please.” the pony said as they pushed their piles of parchment to the side.
Sixty bits? All for a choker? She thought the price would be a lot higher than that, considering the quality of all the jewellery. She levitated a whole load of bits, counting them one by one.
After what seemed like a while, she counted sixty bits on the counter and put the leftover bits back into her saddlebag. She levitated the choker and walks away, as the merchant pony removed their hood, with an evil but hopeful smile.
Romance walked into her home, set the saddlebag beside her table in the living room and walked upstairs with the choker levitating beside her. She stood in front of her mirror and examined the choker further. The velvet was really soft and she loved the design of the hearts.
She turned it over to see writing under the velvet. She looked at it closely and said “When you buy this choker, an entity in it shall be one to change your life.” Before she could try and figure out what it mean, some dark red smoke emerged from the heart and took the shape of a unicorn.
After ten seconds, the smoke faded and it revealed a jet black unicorn with a similar outline to Romance’s coat, a bright red mane and tail, the same as hers, the scleras of the eyes were also a bright red but the eyes were the same colour as hers. Her cutie mark was similar to Romance’s but the heart was a broken heart.
“Oh, so you bought the choker I was in? I was expecting somepony much more evil.” the unicorn said all unamused and showing little emotion in her voice. Her voice was similar to how Romance pitched up her voice. She expected them to have a more evil voice like demonic.
“Who are… you?” Romance asked, scared, surprised and kind of confused at what she was witnessing.
“Oh, how do I explain this ever so delicately that you can understand me?” the unicorn responded in a sarcastic tone. “Oh right. I’m supposed to be taking over the world while being a part of you. And I won’t like you so expect me to take over you at points.”
Romance’s eyes widened. An evil side with her? She knew a few ponies she had talked to had their share of theirs but why her? Not even her parents had evil sides of their own.
“So you’re gonna be fused into me and that’s it.? And like control me like a demon so you can achieve your quest?”
The unicorn nodded, still having the same look then she closed her eyes, dark red magic surrounding her and she started to fuse into Romance’s chest. Then feeling felt very uncomfortable like something was being forcibly shoved into her.
As soon as it was over, which was very quickly, it took a while for Romance to calm herself down and not try to faint. She went to sit on her bed and lay back on her pillows, processing what happened and what it would be like to have an evil side within her.
