"Daring," I shouted loudly as I vaulted over a fallen tree. Me and, the one and only, Daring Do had gone to an ancient ruin in hopes to find a relic of one of The Lost Civilizations Of Pontaia. Things had nearly instantly gone awry when we found out that Caballeron had beaten us to the site. It seems that luck simply hated us when we ran into nearly every possible mythical creature I knew that resided on Equus. Worst part was I had lost a switchblade I had nicked off a guy back on Earth. Daring was launched back by one of Cab's henchponies, and in turn collided with the dead log I had just sprung over. Kneeling down I spoke in a hushed tone, "Daring, you okay?"
"Y-yeah I'm fine Logan. I've been hit harder by a newborn bird!"
I couldn't help but chuckle at her spirit before I stood up and cracked my neck as I glared at the henchpony. He shrunk back a little but quickly regained his composure and charged me with a defiant roar. With a sidestep and a well placed kick, a crack rang out as my hiking boot connected with his shoulder, the bone pushing out grotesquely. Oh how I loved my new strength. The henchpony crumpled to the ground with an anguished cry, attempting to move his dislocated hoof to no avail. I swung a leg over his back and sat down, grabbing the sides of his head with both hands and slamming his muzzle into the dirt below. This attack caused him to instantly still and I stood, walking back to Daring, "Done and done."
"Good job. Let's go! We need to get that relic before Caballeron," She shouted and took off once more. The ruin's main doors had been closed the second we had pulled out, and we were now headed to one of the secret entrances. I flexed my massive wings once as I ran after her, keeping pace easily. It was not long before a small updraft came into view. It was a thick piece of sandstone that was mostly caked in dirt from many years of erosion and weathering. The only indicator to it being there was the sandstone hatch that sat atop it.
I leaped in front of her and yanked it open before hopping down, not about to let her dive into danger first. The second I touched down a henchpony grabbed me around the middle with his forehooves, pulling me back with an angry growl. I grabbed his hooves, and instead of opting to attempt to pry them off, held them tighter. He faltered a bit as he felt my course of action, and I capitalized. I began to spin, twirling around with him in tow before finally releasing his hooves, sending him sprawling across the ground. I instantly ran over and kicked him in the forehead, knocking him out. The second I had done this, Daring landed behind me, shaking her mane out. I looked back at her and smiled as I started running once more, Daring hot on my heels. We weaved through several hallways before sliding to a stop in the main antechamber. It was massive, at least fifty feet wide, and a hundred feet up. I don't even know how this could've been concealed. Maybe the hallways had a gradual downward slope? Magic possibly? Anyway. It was somewhat devoid of objects, do doubt due to Caballeron, and the only remaining items were a few pots here and there. The next thing that caught my eye was a large ceremonial dagger floating on a pedestal, bathed in light. From the other sides of the chamber two figures appeared rapidly. The first that I spotted was Caballeron himself, the cliche villain charging into the chamber with a scowl. The other was a creature I truly hoped I did not see. Ahuizotl. I looked at Daring and spoke, "You take Cabby. I'll handle Ahui," I said quickly to which she nodded. Locking eyes with her for half a second I ran forward, charging Ahuizotl head on.
He grinned his trademark smile and charged back, and the second I came remotely close I hit the deck, sliding forward and between his legs before grabbing his throat and spinning around, slamming the creature into the hard sandstone below. Surprise became painted across his face as I reared a fist back, slinging it forward to connect with his face. This strike seemed to knock him out of his funk and I felt a hand wrap around my throat. Grasping it, I pried it off and twisted his tail back, keeping the hand firm in my grasp. I pinned his limbs down with my knees as I used one fist to slug him repeatedly. He writhed and twisted before throwing me off with a shout, but i gave no chance for a break. I charged forward once more and moved to kick him, but before I could react his hand grabbed the back of my ankle and yanked me off my feet. I landed hard, my wings crumpling beneath me, and the air rushed from my lungs. As I saw Ahuizotl leap into the air to attack, I rolled to the side and moved to get up, before his hand connected with my face and knocked me back, and he landed on my chest, knocking the wind from me once more. I glared up at him for have a second before fire ignited across my face, his claws leaving red-hot streaks of pain along my cheek. Thankfully, the idiot didn't pin my arms and I shot them up, wrapping them around his throat, squeezing as tightly as I could. His eyes bugged out of his skull as I did this, and I slammed his head into the ground, rearing back and slamming my forehead into the bridge of his snout. Blood gushed from his nose as i pulled back, backing up with a glare
He rolled to his front and stood, and we began to circle each other, daring each other to make the first move. A blood droplet fell to the ground and I felt rage boil in my veins. I reached back and grabbed my knife from my back pocket, pulling it free and baring it military style. His eyes ran the length of the 8 inch blade, and I grinned, "You done pissed me off. Bad move," I said and spun the knife around my hand, catching it in the way I had it before.
Ahuizotl ran forward and attempted to tackle me, but I merely spun to the side, raking my blade along his side. Blood stained my blade and I shot my boot out, connecting it to the back of his head. He shouted in pain and rolled back, pushing to a standing position. I sheathed the blade back in my pocket, wanting some form of actual challenge and flashed a smile. Ahuizotl once more ran forward and lunged to his back paws, and as he moved to rip me to shreds I darted my hands forward, wrapping them around his forepaws. The second I kneed him in the stomach, I felt that hand of his grab my neck once more. Release or continue were my options. I spun him around and wrapped my arm around his throat in a chokehold, prying his hand from my throat and grinning as I wrapped his tail around his neck. I pressed my knee into his back and pushed him to the ground as I gripped both sides of his tail, keeping it pulled taught around his throat. Wrapping my legs around his forelegs I began to pull back, constricting his flow of oxygen and constricting his movement. He thrashed about wildly for a little as I pulled, his face slowly changing colors before he stilled and I released him, made sure he was breathing, and stood up. After all, he didn't need to die. I looked to the other side of the room, just as Caballeron bucked Daring across the room, her retaliating by flying back and socking him across the jaw. I chuckled and stood as I began to walk that direction, holding up my hand and pointing a finger at Cabby.
"Un, ah, dai oos," I smiled as a bolt of electricity flew from my finger and forced his muscles to lock up, him falling over stock still. Paralyzing lightning. Such a fun ability. I grasped the handle of the dagger and a shiver raced down my spine. There was something mystical about this item, but I chose to ignore it.
"So.......we did it," Daring asked as she trotted over.
"Mhmm. Let's get this to the museum and head home. Before they wake up and I have to hurt some folk," I smiled and spread my wings, looking up as I held my hand up. "Kasa," I smiled as the earth that was the roof peeled back and crumbled to dust, before I grabbed Daring and flew out.
"Another successful adventure," She smiled at me and nuzzled my neck. I rubbed her head and voiced my agreements before looking to the horizon.
