A Wacky Read

A WORD BY THE AUTHOR

Previous Chapter

First of all I want to thank everyone that made it this far for reading through the whole thing.

I wrote this as a summer break from more serious writing projects and I hope some of you had as much fun reading it as I had writing. Which one can only hope for, really.
The idea of making this fanfic started as something completely different, but then I tossed in more and more ideas and others got pushed out and eventually the story took a dark turn and didn't become as humorous as I had planned.
It's not worse. I think it turned out quite well, considered it's made for fun. But as it always goes with all things art, it's eventually never what you hoped for.

Frankly I think writing fanfics is a bad idea. If you can write, putting time into a fanfic is a poor choice made. I only wrote this fanfic so I can illustrate a point. And I will not write another.

I put so many characters in that story, that on one hand they were hard to juggle, but on the other hand, they were replaceable.
And that's the point. Characters are replaceable.

Like in Doctor Who, if they wanna make a ghost story, they just make a ghost story. They don't need to drag the Ghostbusters into it and dig out poor Harold Ramis, may he rest in peace, they just go and write their own fanfiction with their own characters in their original world.

If you got a great idea of a story, just go a little further and flesh it out and don't just pull it's skin over the already fleshed skeleton of a fandom.
We ride on settled emotions, on feelings the reader already developed towards the cast. It's not cheating, but it's The Easy Way.

It wouldn't be that hard to come up with an original world and names, but instead people are relying on other people's creation. They could just make a young girl wizard travel back in time to become the mother of the empress, or even become her own mother, but no! They throw away a decent story idea and smear a fandom all over it. What's so bad about a fantasy based land with two queens that control the weather, raising a wizard to take their legacy? I wouldn't know.

I took a few fandoms for this and drew parallels. All three of those teams have seven essential group members, and they all share some traits or another. It's always the same concept when it comes to groups and that's why crossovers with Ponies work so well. There's always a smart nerd, always a cocky fighter, a nice lookin' one or a strong one, a shy one or a submissive one. Groups never really change all that much and if you expand your tolerance on those traits wide enough, they simply fit everything.

Who is to say what a real Twilight is, how she acts? She's different from writer to writer, and so is the rest. Many viewers thought the Ponies were out of character in their Movie. So is that a fanfic? Nope. Is it believable? Shrug-Meh.
On that point in time you can basically do whatever you want to any character. Most of them have more cooks than a New York Restaurant. Characters are vague, and they can change.

If you were to make your own character and give them your idea of their personality, no one will care about it or hate you for it. There's certain tropes that we like, that are cultural beneficial. We can point them out here and there in this story or the next one, but that doesn't make the trope less effective.

Just try to make your own, something that is fully yours. Sure it is fun to write a fanfic sometimes, as it is to draw fanart. But that's not saying anything about you. It's not showing who you are. You're just playing around with stuff that is already there. You're not adding anything new to the world. Other than maybe a story.

So if you have the means to come up with a great story, just walk the extra mile. Making something original might not draw in the crowds as fast as a fandom-related piece does, but it might benefit you in the long run.

That's at least what I'm trying to do.
I want to be an author. Professionally. I want to make stories and I want to sell books. I want people to like those stories and them to become famous.

Those original characters of mine, Hati, Rex and that bunch, are the protagonists of my fantasy series that I'm working on for quite a few years now.
The beginning of the saga, the first six hundred pages, are on the german book market, officially and professionally, and within a few years I might even sell a copy.
Everyone starts small, right? RIGHT?!

Whatever happens to the books I write, I'm not stopping. I have more stories in store than I can write down in a lifetime and all I can do is trying to do it anyway.
This is what I want to do. I have the means to do it. It's my responsibility to get it all out there, so it won't get lost in the wrinkles of my brain.

Of course it also was a challenge to write in english. The style had to change, sentences don't work the same as they did before.
I hope you didn't rub yourself the wrong way reading my best attempt. And if you did. I'm sorry 'bout that. I still hope you manage to look through that language barrier and respect my writing style.
And most of all, I hope you enjoyed yourself.

I'll leave you now with a few more treats.

Between the cities of Ponyville and Canterlot, in the uninhabited realm of the Everfree Forest, a green portal opened by a lonely tree on a blank hilltop. The Visitors that came forth from the gooey, green pancake had a great view over the valley, the forest and the mountainside in the horizon, that born a great, white city.

"This is it?"

"Well, Morty, you wanted to see the end of the universe, this is it. That's the last planet left in this universe. Chances are good it ends the same way in our universe, or any really", the old man shrugged.

It was a bright summer's day and the little boy in the yellow shirt was impressed and excited, "Oh, wow, Rick, I didn't expect it to look this nice. Look at it, there's trees, mountains and even a town. There's people living here for christ's sake. That's amazing."

"If you say so. But I wouldn't call them people. They're a bunch of asholes, Morty."

"What. Wh-what'ta'ya mean?"

"I've been here before. It's a planet ruled by Unicorns and Pegasi."

"Oh, wow."

"Yeah-yeah, no, Morty", the man burped, "It's not as cool as it sounds, trust me. They don't like Humans. At. All. They are like, super racist. I don't know why, what happened to them, but my guess is, that they had some really bad experiences with visitors from other planets or dimensions even."

Suddenly the sun moved and was lowered. The moon rose up in a matter of seconds.

"Wha-what was that?"

"They changed the day into night."

"Wh-what?!"

"Yeah, Morty! Those Unicorns are super powerful. They can control the sun and make it day and night whenever they want. The-the-they can shoot lasers from their horns, Morty, lasers through your heart if you piss them off."

"Oh-oh-oh-okay, Rick, that sounds scary. Let's get out of here, okay? I wanted to see the last planet alive and now I've seen it. I don't want to die on it."

"Yeah", Rick shrugged, "Sure." And drew his portal gun to get them out of there.

"There's no one here!", Bonbon yelled when the two Ponies came up the hillside.

"I know I've seen them. You callin' me a liar?"

"Lyra!"

"I'm not crazy!"

The first draft of the story, which is oooooold as fuck, was a whole lot different from the new version. In this first draft, there was only OCs and Ponies and the arc was more humorous.
However, I couldn't bring myself to include these parts but also couldn't delete them unread.
I leave those notes here, that didn't make the cut.

TWILIGHT EXPLAINING HER CASTLE

In this scene, Twilight was explaining the Lizards how the castle was built, since it had an unusual shape.

Twilight: We brought the Elements of Harmony back to the tree, that turned out growing them in the first place. The tree then helped us defeating Discords twines, freed the princesses and gave us a box with six keyholes.
When we found the keys and opened the box it gave us Rainbow Power and flew through the sky, buried itself in the ground and grew a castle in a few seconds. We also defeated Tirek that day. That were some busy days.

(Silence)

Rx: We need to get off this planet immediately.

H/E/K/Ro/M: Uh-huh!

Twy: Sorry, all this must seem really crazy to you.

M: Oh no, please, HE (pointing at Rook) is crazy. This is beyond everything sane!

RARITY DRESSING UP MORTY
When Rarity saw Morty wearing nothing but rugs, she couldn’t help herself but to sew for the rescue! She dragged skeleton Morty into her boutique.

R: You're going to look fabulous!

M: Is that a promise or a threat?

R: A lady like myself doesn't spell any threats.

Morty stands on the stage, Rarity walking around, doing her thing.

M: A lady? You consider yourself a lady?

R: Of course, Darling, isn't it obvious?

M: Was it surprising I considered myself a gentleman once?

R: A gentleman? Oh you mean a gentlecolt, but how can a monster be a gentlecolt? Sorry.

M: No, no. You're right. I'm a monster, and now I even look like one.

R: Don't be silly, dear. I've seen far worse than you.

(Sp: He wanted to cut me open!)

R: Spike! What are you doing here?

Sp: I thought you needed some help, and someone who was watching the creep here.

M: Now you're making yourself look ridiculous, Kid.

R: But he got a fair point there, what was that about anyway?

M: Just helping a friend. That's all.

R: That doesn't sound so bad, hmm?

Sp: Cutting me open sure does.

M: Oh please, you're the one eating gemstones, it's like your begging to be cut open.

Sp: Breakfast, it was breakfast.

R: Spike eats gems all the time, sometimes a little to much even. That's really nothing unusual, dear.

M: It sure woke Rex's greed. That man's addicted to fortune.

R: Man? He sure doesn't look like it.

M: Whatever. I'm not sure about anything myself anymore.

Sp: So, what kind of demon are you?

M: I'm not a demon, stupid. It's a curse.

R: Watch your language, darling.

M: Doctor! I'm a doctor.

Sp: What kind of doctor?

M: Medicine, duh!

R: A cursed doctor? Why, how did that happen?

M: Tried to save someone, made a deal with a god, didn't turn out that well, okay?

Sp: Did you ... save the someone?

M: No.

Rarity cries, but keeps on working.

Spike got tears in his eyes too.

Sp: Rarity?

R: I'm fine *sniff* I'm fine.

M: Oh please.

R: Hold it, I'm nearly done.

:There! Voilá!

Morty looks in the mirror.

M: How does the fabric not melt down?

R: I used a little enchantment, nothing special.

M: You have to tell me your secrets. Tell me!

R: *giggle* A master doesn't reveal his secrets. Do you like it, or love it?

M: I nearly look like my former self. Like the suits I wore when I was rich and famous.

R: So, you love it?

M: It ...

R: Yes?

M: It ...

R: Yes?!

M: It makes me ...

R: Indescribable happy!

M: Sad.

Sp: Sad?

R: I don't know what to say, but Why?

M: It remembers me of a time and all the things that I lost.

R: I'm so sorry.

M: But it looks really gorgeous. Thank you.

R: You're most welcome. (with a tear in her eye)

The doorbell rings.

R: One moment, I'll be right with you.

She turns around.

R: Oh, it's you.

K: We stay in the castle tonight.

Morty comes down the stage and walks up to them.

R: Enjoy your stay, Darling, I mean, Doctor.

SHE’S THE PRINCESS OF FRIENDSHIP THAT PUKES RAINBOWS

When in the first draft of the story, the Ponies separated the Lizards from each other for the night time, to have a better control over what they were doing, they started to share a few things about Princess Twilight. She didn't have the most warm welcome to the aliens and so they were wondering what her deal was.

PP: Twilight's just worried. She doesn't want her friends or anypony to get hurt.

Rook: Must be tough, to be a ruler, a princess.

Rarity sets up Sweetie's bed for Morty.
Rara: Well, I'm sure it can be. She has a lot of duties to be aware of since she became a princess.

M: So she hasn't always been a princess?

Twilight and Rex are sitting in her studying room, by candlelight.

Twy: No, I haven't always been a princess.

Applejack and Hati are laying on a sheet on the field, watching the stars.
H: I've heard of becoming a king or queen, but aren't princesses born into their title?

AJ: Neigh, she earned it.

Rx: So, you married a prince?
Twy: No, (giggle) no.
Rx: Isn't it common in your land to marry into a royal title?
Twy: No, I don't think so. But, well, my brother became prince by marrying princess Cadance.

Rx: Then what was your quest to achieve a royal title like this?

Rainbow, Fluttershy, Elisa and Krator were sitting on their beds and sleeping places in a circle, with little light on.
RD: Quest? I don't know if you could call it a quest.
FS: Well, it was a pretty difficult task.
RD: Yeah, probably, I don't know. It was something about magic, that's all I know.

K: That's disappointing little of a story.

PP: There was this spell that mixed up our Cutie Marks, Twilight did it, but didn't know that the day before. And we were all on the wrong places messing up everything we touched.

AJ: But Twilight showed us our destiny and we got our Cutie Marks back. The next thing I remember is that we all shoot her with a magic beam or something and burned her down to a stain on the floor.

H: Wait, what?!

Twy: I was teleported to a magic realm and princess Celestia gave me this wings.
Rx: On a silver tray.
Twy: It was a spell, apparently a spell I had cast myself moments before.
Rx: So you finished this ancient spell, to show yourself your true destiny, what somehow also appears to be connected to the cutie marks on your flank.
Twy: It must sound silly if you're not used to it.

Rx: Oh please, no, this is quite interesting.

H: This is really confusing.

Rx: I'd love to experiment with these marks, extract their magic, try to craft an artificial mark.
Twy: But that would be evil, and that's why you won't do it, (nervous giggle) right? Seriously tell me you won't do it.
Rx: (bored) Probably not.
Twy: Great.

Rx: But I'm not making promises.

Rara: In the same night she appeared in a bright star, floating down to us. And there she was, with wings! An Alicorn *sigh* Her coronation was the next day. Celestia had everything prepared and spared no expense. It was such a wonderful day, but then again, you don't get to become a princess everyday.
M: Then only Alicorns get to rule?

R: You make it sound so bad. Celestia and Luna protect us, lead us, they'd do anything for Equestria.

PP: But that's not all! She was a princess, alright, but of what? She was basically same old Twilight, but then, the Tree of Harmony made her this chest, and long story short, the rainbow powers made her the castle.

Ro: Yeah, she mentioned something like that.

K: So this Celestia sounds like a big deal.
RD: Well, Duh! She moves the sun.
FS: And Princess Luna the moon.
E:(shakes her head and laughs) what?!
RD: What what? Who moves your sun and moon in your world?

Krator and Elisa share a look.

H: So, Celestia is the Princess of the Sun, and therefore the big boss, Luna is princess of the moon, then there was Cadance that was princess of the Crystal Empire, what is basically just one city.
AJ: You got that right.

H: Then what is Twilight princess of?

R: As for, as shown, our friendship can accomplish anything, she's

R/RD/FS/PP/Twy/AJ: the princess of friendship.

Hati laughs.
AJ: What's so funny 'bout that?

H: Nothing, it just -

Rx: - sounds ridiculous.
Twy: Excuse me? It is NOT ridiculous, it's honorable and reputable.
Rx: It seems I tend to forget, I'm in a peachy, foreign world with sunshine every day, inhabited by motley coloured, talking ponies and unicorn princesses that puke rainbows."
Twy: I do NOT puke rainbows..

MOST AWESOME PONY
This dialog got lost due to the timeline of the overall story. The Ponies never managed to come together in that particular order in that time of the story. Enjoy anyway.

AJ: It's okay to be scared, Rainbow.
RD: I'm not scared. Why would you think that? I'm looking forward to show those creeps who's the most awesome pony in town!
PP: Who is it?
RD: What?
PP: The most awesome pony in town, who is it? Can I guess? Is it Fluttershy?
FS: Me?
RD: I am, Pinkie!
PP: Oh yeah, I could have thought of that.

And that was the last of me here. I’m glad you made it all the way down here. Thank you for reading once more. Have a nice day and hope to see you on the book market someday.
