//-------------------------------------------------------// Stick To It -by TRIBOT 4000- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Episode 1: Pilot //-------------------------------------------------------// Episode 1: Pilot The first thing I felt was my feet. I didn't wiggle them though. Shock, as you know, tends to leave the mind without the ability to clarify whether or not you exist. The next thing I felt was my ankles, then my knees, and then my thigh. It took a few milliseconds (or a thousandth of a few seconds if you have something against the metric system) for me to realize that my sense of feeling was slowly starting to work its way up my body. Now, let me clarify, it's not that I'm in pain or anything, I just couldn't feel anything at all a few seconds ago. I'm not talking about numbness. Numbness is like a feeling that forces your nerves to ignore all other feeling. I'm talking about literally feeling nothing. You won't understand unless you've felt it before. It doesn't feel good, nor does it feel bad, thus, the only category I can, in good conscious, put it in is 'annoying'. When I could feel my face, light was shining in my eyes, very brightly might I add. I didn't react yet though, I decided to wait until I knew every bit of my being could work. I don't know what stupid look I've got on my face right now but it sure must be weird if all these colorful ponies looking at me strangely is any indication. Wait... Did...did I just say...'colorful ponies'? I looked around with my...well, my eyes obviously, but I wasn't moving my head. I beheld before me what appeared to be, a purple pony. Yes, you heard right. I said a purple pony... or lavender... I honestly don't care what color she is because there are at least twenty other similar creatures. Okay, okay, that is an exaggeration, but like I said before: I DON'T CARE! Why in all that is holy am I here? Since no one seems to want to answer my inner thoughts, I shall do exactly what any sane-minded figure would do: Climb the nearest tall object and scream bloody murder. This only worked temporarily because apparently these creatures can move things with their minds. Needless to say, I am now floating in the air with the force of... uh... I don't know what, pressing my lips shut. The pony now in front of me was a much taller white coated horse. She had a huge pair of wings and a long horn protruding from her forehead glowing with some sort of translucent, golden glow. The same glow surrounded my body and suspended me in the air. At least that's what I'm assuming it's done. I honestly have no idea. What really made me stare (other than the Golden GlowynessTM) was her mane and tail which appeared to be a flowing rainbow, waving in some hidden wind that wasn't visible to the Figure eye. She isn't as annoyed as the others. Obviously a calm, level-headed leader. Hopefully she's also benevolent. "Hello creature." She said calmingly, "I am sure you are very confused and I doubt you feel cooperative. However, I must ask that you cease yelling, for my sake as well as yours. It is quite annoying and I, judging from your size, am guessing that you are at the very least, a young adult, thus you should be able to handle this with a prudent mind." I listened intently. Her silky voice did help me breathe a little sower. She smiled, "Okay then. I am going to let you go now." she said, likely for my comfort. I nodded again and felt my body slowly lower to the ground. As soon as I felt the floor beneath me, her Golden GlowynessTM dissipated. I stood on the ground and looked up at the giant, white, ethereal horse. She starts talking again. "My name is Princess Celestia." she says as she motions a hoof towards herself. Then motioned to a slightly shorter, dark blue horse to her right, "This is my sister and fellow Princess, Luna." This horse has a mane and tail that looked like a copied png file of the night sky, if the night sky were more beautiful than a mothers smile. She had the same horn and wings, albeit a little smaller. It's easy to see them as sisters. Absolute opposites but obviously related. Oh, wait, they're looking at me very expectantly now. I took a deep breath. "Hello...uh...your Majesty" I say in what I hope is a calm manner, "My name is Gray Scale. That's Gray with an 'a' not an 'e'." I clarified. Celestia smiled at me. Nervously I did a small bow. She smiled a little more at that. Why do I feel like she's mentally calling me cute? Probably because she is. "Very nice to meet you Mr. Scale." she responds. Her sister and the other beings in the room respond in similar ways before the smaller horses begin introducing themselves. The first to step forward is that lavender/purple unicorn from earlier, "My name is Twilight Sparkle." she says. As twilight finishes a pink blur coming from an unknown origin reveals a pink pony with a pink mane and a pink tail and...uh...blue eyes? ...Hmm...ya know what? Not gonna question it. She sticks a hoof out absurdly close to my face. "Hi! I'm Pinkie Pie. You can call me Pinkie, or Pie, or Pinkie Pie, or even Pie Pinkie. If you want you can even just call Bob. I'm your friendly neighborhood party planner and laughter expert. I throw parties, laugh, cry, and alter the laws of physics and nature. If you ever need me just call the Pink Pony. The Real Pink PonyTM, none of them phonies. Anyways, I hope you have great time here because if this story doesn't progress well the writer will stop writing and that's like dying for us." She said. I...um...I...honestly didn't understand anything but the 'I'm Pinkie Pie' part so...yeah. With a hop and a skip, she disappeared and reappeared beside her friends. It took me a second to realize that we had never actually shaken hands/hoofs. The next pony to step up was an orange coated one with a yellow mane and tail. She wore a tan Stetson on her head and spoke with a southern drawl. "Nice to meet ya Gray. Name's Applejack." She said pleasantly. Simple and to the point. She steps back to let another introduce themselves. This one was white coated and had a very well-done purple mane and tail job did I really just say that like it was normal thing to say? "Greetings Darling. My name is Rarity, owner of the Carsel Boutique. You simply must drop by. Grey goes with everything as ponies well know." Applejack rolls her eyes. "Now Rares, I doubt he's really thinkin' about what he's wearin'. He obviously doesn't wear clothes normally so..." "Oh, pish posh. Every creature needs at least one set of clothes." Ignoring the two bickering ponies, a blue coated Pegasus flies up to me. Her mane is similar to Celestias, rainbow colored. I wonder if the word 'rainbow' is in her name. "Hey dude, at least I'm guessing you're a dude. The name's Rainbow Dash." called it. "I'm also known as awesome, radical, and cool. Take your pick but my most well known title is 'The Greatest Flyer in Equestria'." Lots of confidence. As she backs up a friggin dragon steps forward. He's green and purple but that is of little importance. It's a dragon! "Hey, what's up? I'm Spike." he points behind him to a yellow Pegasus hiding behind her pink mane, "That's Fluttershy." He then turns around and stands next to Twilight. Normally, I would probably have started tried getting more information on my current situation. Normally, I would have started asking questions and attempted figuring out a way to get back to my own world. However, this is not normal as it is most obviously, assuredly, beyond the shadow of a doubt, a dream. Yes, yes, I'm dreaming right now. I've never had a lucid dream before, but it's likely the cause of getting hit on the head or something back in the real world. I smile and slap my hands (stubs actually. I don't know why we call them hands. Figures don't have fingers) and rub them together. "Well then." I begin, "This has been nice and all but I'd like to wake up now. I'm not used to dreaming so lucidly." I look at them expectantly but get no response. I groan and explain, "Someone hit me or something. It's like the rule of rules when dreaming." I felt stupid as soon as the words left my mouth. I woke to the sound of voices. "Why did you do that?!" "He said to hit him! So we did!" "But he's not actually dreaming! Damn it Luna!" "Hey! He's waking up!" I moaned and opened my eyes. Once again my eyes were met with colorful snouts and shiny manes. No, no, no. I'm still here. That means this isn't...a dream. I'm actually in another world. I could be crazy, that is entirely possible. Whether that's the case or not I want to wake from this nightmare! "Hey dude, are you alright? She didn't hit you that hard... at least I don't think so." In my inner turmoil I had worked my way into a curled up fetal position on the ground. It wasn't until I looked at Rainbow that my blurry vision indicated that I had tears in my eyes. Everyone seems surprised to see me nearly sobbing. What did they expect? That I'd just be completely fine with showing up in a world not like my own in any way!? Is that what they think!?! ...ugh...I can't get mad at them. It's not their...fault...wait. "Why am I here?" I ask. They look a bit taken back at my question, likely due to how serious I was when asking, but I want my answer, "Why. Am. I. Here?" I emphasize each word through clenched teeth. I could feel anger boil inside me. Twilight was about to step forward and speak, but Celestia beat her to the punch, "It is my fault." she said sadly, "I was the one who convinced my student to attempt the new spell without considering the possible dangers. Twilight would not have attempted it had I not convinced her it was safe." As she finished, her sister, Luna, stepped forward as well. "We doth remember giving our...um 'two cents' about the spell as well. We are also to blame for thy suffering." before I had a chance to retort, Applejack took her hat off, and sighed. "Quite frankly, and Ah mean no disrespect your highness, it's all our faults. Every one of us was convinced that this here spell wouldn't cause any kinda damage." she said. She then looked at me and bowed her slightly in shame with the others, "We should all take the blame. Yer here 'cause we didn't trot before gallopin', and fer that, we're sorry." I don't know what to say to that. I had hoped it to be some malicious act of an individual, or the foolish act of a madman, but no. It was an accident, and the ones who caused it are completely fessing up as well as feeling terrible for it. ugh... I'm not mad. Why should I be? It's not like they wanted to do this on purpose. It was an honest mistake, a stupid one alright, don't get me wrong. It was most certainly a stupid, dumb mistake, but a mistake none-the-less. I took my gaze away from the horses in the room and went back to thinking. Maybe they can send me back, but I highly doubt it. Whatever experiment they were doing obviously didn't have the outcome they had expected. If there was a way then they more than likely have no idea how it would work. For all they know it only worked because our worlds were in like some sort of alignment that may not happen for years. I've watched enough sci-fi movies to know what happens in those situations. I guess I could just sit here...crying...like a little baby... ... No. No, I refuse to waste my life like that. When was anything ever accomplished through sitting around waiting and sobbing? I'll tell you when: NEVER! I stood up slowly and looked at Twilight. "If it's not too much trouble..." I started, "Could you look over the spell on your free time? Ya know, try to see what went wrong? I'd hate to think my presence rips a whole in reality itself. Heh." Twilight nodded and smiled sadly. With that, I looked around me at the ponies present and took a deep breath before speaking again, "Alright! So, just so we're clear, I'm a creature from another world, obviously. Our history is completely different, as are our cultures and technology. Judging by your reactions to me, I'm guessing none of you have ever seen a StickFigure?" they all shook their heads, "In that case, if you want to integrate me into society, you'll have to do so correctly. I don't know how creatures here react to new creatures so that part's on you." I pointed at Celestia. She nodded as finished my little speech, "Until then, I'm willing to talk about my world or your world. Also, before any of you ask, yes, I am very much mentally strained right now. However, once I concentrate on something I should be fine." I finished my speech and then... ...passed out. Author's Note As you saw, this is a the Pilot Episode so this chapter decides whether or not I continue writing this story. I worked hard on this because I have yet to find a very well done stickfigure story. No offence to the writers of those stories, I just wasn't impressed. Also, btw, this story was exactly 2,000 words. Go figure. But now it isn't because of friggin' editing skills.
