Confidence with Wings.
Midday struck with a gale of fierce winds that ruffled manes and shook trees. Fluttershy was already getting ready for winter, smiling as she looked at November the 1st on her calendar she pulled her plastic Christmas tree out of her store cupboard and began opening it. Fluttershy erected her christmas tree in a matter of minutes. "One of the conveniences of having wings, I guess". She said softly.
Having put her baubles on the tree, she reached into her decorations bag only to find it empty. "Oh dear, the little critters must have took them to play with". She said smiling fondly at the thought of her animals playing and having fun.
Putting on her saddle bag and grabbing her Bit purse, she set off for Sugar Cube corner.
The streets were empty, just how Fluttershy liked it. Taking her time she strolled along the main road calmly, examining the skies. The sky was a very strong white colour that seemed to shimmer with light the longer you looked at it. "The Pegasi have been busy packing snow into the clouds". Muttered Fluttershy dreamily.
She had been walking for half an hour, drinking in the peace and serenity of the usually bustling market centre of Ponyville. Snow had began to fall down gracefully to the ground, sticking to Fluttershy's mane. She smiled serenely and began walking towards Sugarcube Corner and entered the front door. The heartwarmingly familiar jingle of the bell above the door greeted Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie's head appeared around the door.
"Hi!". Pinkie Pie said, with a cupcake in her mouth.
"Um- hello Pinkie Pie, I was wondering if you could help me with something". Said Fluttershy, her confidence draining away.
"Sure what is it? WAIT! Let me guess! Is it... Tinsel for your Christmas tree? Squealed Pinkie Pie energetically.
"Um- Yes, how did you know? If you don't mind me asking".
"My Pinkie sense silly!" Said Pinkie Pie
"Well, yes, I'd like some tinsel please". Said Fluttershy, her confidence growing again.
"I'll get my Party Cannon ammo box!" Squealed Pinkie Pie, turning and running up the stairs.
"It had been a whole ten minutes since Pinkie Pie returned with a large box with her cutie mark emblazoned on it. The snow had been falling at an alarming rate and was now so thick that Fluttershy couldn't see AppleJack's usual Stall on the market centre.
"Would you like anything to eat? Mr and Mrs Cake are out of town today so you can have it all on the house!"
"Um- I'd like a Cinnamon Roll, if it wouldn't be too much trouble". Said Fluttershy, barely audible.
Seconds later Pinkie Pie was stood right up close to Fluttershy with a Cinnamon Roll in her hoof. Pinkie Pie's face had never been this close to Fluttershy's face before and the odd thing was, Fluttershy thought, is that she didn't mind, infact she rather liked it.
"Thank you". Fluttershy whispered
"No problem". Pinkie Whispered back, Fluttershy felt Pinkie's warm sweet breath on her face and it took every shred of self control to stop herself from diving into Pinkie's arms.
Fluttershy turned to leave, she pushed the door, but it didn't budge, there was snow barricading them in.
"Um- Pinkie Pie, I can't get out". Said Fluttershy, a worried tone rang through her voice.
"Not to worry! We can have a sleepover! That is, if you want to! " Squeaked Pinkie Pie, excitement bringing her voice to a whole new high pitch.
"But, what about Angel and the other animals?" Said Fluttershy, a definite note of panic in her voice.
"Relax, They can look after themselves, I've seen Angel get his own food countless times before! Pinkie Said, with a reassuring smile
"But what about the other animals?" Fluttershy said with difficulty, her throat tightening with worry.
"I'm sure Angel will help the others with their food" Pinkie said with a happy smile
"But what if he doesn't? He can be very selfish at times!" Squeaked Fluttershy, worry spreading through her body with a biting viciousness.
"Don't worry". Pinkie said in a sing song voice
"I'm really not sure". Said Fluttershy barely whispering.
"Have a cupcake, they make me feel calm when I'm feeling nervous". Said Pinkie Pie
"But I already have a Cinamon roll..." Fluttershy breathed
"Its fine". Pinkie said in her sing song voice
An hour had passed in what seemed like seconds, Fluttershy had spent most of it looking at the door hoping that the snow would evaporate so she could tend to her animals and she spent the small remainder of it listening to Pinkie Pie renacting a sword fight she had with an Ursa Major with candy canes. The snow had slowly but surely began to seep underneath the door and through the keyhole. Pinkie had noticed that Fluttershy had been religiously glancing at the door.
"Y'know, if you need to leave so badly, you could just fly out of the upstairs window". Pinkie said, looking slightly crestfallen
"Oh no, I simply couldn't, its too high!" Fluttershy said alot louder than she meant to.
Shortly after Fluttershy had tryed to leave, Pinkie had invited her into the kitchen so she could help Pinkie finish baking the last batch of cupcakes. Once the last batch of cupcakes had finished baking, Fluttershy tried pulling the baking tray out of the oven with her bare hooves and she burnt them.
"Ouch!" She squeaked, a half sob in her voice
"Ooooh, Don't worry. I burn myself all the time!" Said Pinkie with a half grimace on her face
She took some burn ointment and took Fluttershy's hoof in hers and began rubbing the ointment in. Fluttershy's mind was is overdrive, she could her face getting hotter and could practically see the red glowing off of her own face. Just when she thought that things couldn't get any worse, her hooves started to become clammy with cold sweat.
"Fluttershy, are you okay?" Pinkie asked with a worried look on her face.
"Mhhhmff" Fluttershy squeaked.
Fluttershy tried to move her jaw but its was like she had just eaten one of Pinkies Stickie Toffee cakes.
