Harmony Breaks

"Please tell me the story Princess!" Twilight pleaded as she trotted after me.

"No Twilight, you are not ready to hear that story, not am I sure I am ready to tell it," I tell her in a strong and sure voice, as I continue to walk away.

"Pllleeeeaassee!" She pleaded with me again, her eyes growing wide in wonder.

"No,"

"But please Princess, I am ready! I am old enough!" She trots next to me.

"If I tell you, you will never be able to look the same way at a lot of ponies, including me,"

"It's okay, I wear I won't tell anyone! Not even Spike!" I look down to her large purple eyes, pleading with me, and sigh, knowing she will not give this up.

"Fine," I reluctantly say. "But I will spare no detail, even the truly horrid parts," I saw ominously, winking at her.

"Yay!" she exclaims and sits down, eagerly awaiting.

As a filly growing up during Discord’s chaotic rule-"

"What's a "discord?"' She asks, confused.

"Well, he is this large beast with the head of a pony, two disfigured horns, a paw of a-"

"Is he in the garden?!" She perks up a bit.

"Why yes, Twilight. Our magic turned him to stone." She sits up straghter, having guessed right.

"'Our?'"

"Ill get to that; be patient.

I didn’t know much of what was to be normal and what wasn’t. Everything bizarre that happened in this land was just normal everyday life to me. I don’t remember much of my parents.

My parents went mad together, watching ponies they loved be slowly dragging in Discords’ crazy life, watching them all slowly burn. They would leave Luna-"

"Whose Luna?!"

I sigh. "Its rude to interrupt..." she slumps down at this. "She is..." I look down, my long flowing mane slightly encrouching on my face. I turn and look to where the moon would be, if it were not day. A single tear worms it way from my eye down towards my muzzle, only to fall, and shatter upon the floor.

"She was my sister." Twilight sees my ridged posture, and though i can tell her filly personality wants her to ask more, she just sits quietly, waiting for me to continue.

"My parents left Luna and I alone for days, and sometimes even weeks, off to who-knows-where, doing who-knows-what. I began to raise Luna and myself on my own.

My parents were about to leave on another one of their strange treks, and since Luna and I were so curious, we fallowed them.

They wandered into a dark, yet somehow strangely lit forest.

'Now called the Everfree Forest,''' I tell her, watching her eager eyes follow me.

''They wove among the tall, wide trees, every once in awhile leaning in to whisper into they grey leaves. That’s the moment I realized they were truly and completely the embodiment of madness.

Slowly, we came upon a large mound rocks, sticks, and stubble. What could this be? I thought to myself. I looked down upon Luna’s tiny form as she stared directly ahead, shaking, but eyes unwavering, fixed upon out parents approaching the mound, and what was on it; Discord.

We stumbled closer and noticed maybe six or seven guards. They are still the ugliest things I have  ever laid my eyes upon.

They had the head of ponies, with the neck of scaly red and purple lizards; the bodies of fierce, lean lions, and the hands of eagles; but the strangest thing of all was, they had NO tails! Imagine that, a creature with not even a stub of a tail! They made a sickening sound, it was a mix of a hiss and growl, but also with the undertones that sounded like bones being torn apart. It is not something you will ever be able to imagine, nothing I will ever be able to unhear.

Luna's wings began to become erect with immense fear. Her eyes grew wider, pupils dilated to such a size I could not even see them. She was terrified; I wrapped my wind around her tiny shivering body.

Our parents reached a gate made only out twigs and what seemed to be bleached white animal bones. From where I was hiding in a small berry bush, I could see mothers lips parting and returning to the correct position, forming words I could not hear.

Discord cackled malevolently. throwing his disgusting head back in his fit of insane laughter. He snapped his head straight back and instantly the laughing the ceased, and he slowly lowered his eyes so they lay upon my mother, looking very smug. One side of his lip turned slowly up into a sinister grin, his cold unforgiving eyes narrowed. His eyes darted back and forth between mother and farther; he said something I could not hear. He gestured to two of his guards and they stepped slowly closer, almost seeming to glide down the gentle slope of pebbles. I quickly wrapped my wings around Luna, shielding her from what I knew was soon to come. She didn't protest or squirm, she did not even move anymore, the shaking had stopped and I hadn't even noticed.

I didn't want to watch what was going to happen next, but I could not seem to tear my eyes away from the beasts slowly floating toward my defenseless parents. The creatures carefully raised their strangling thin arms, their talon-claws holding swards made out of hardened clouds. They brought down the weapons swiftly, easily gliding through flesh, hacking off chunks of hide. Blood ribboned through out the stones, gently drained onto the dirt below them.It was a horrifying sight, but to this day I'm glad Luna didn't see it.

I didn't mean to, but I screamed. I didn't really realize I had done it until I noticed all of the guards, and Discord himself where staring at where we were hiding in the bus. I did not uncover Luna's eyes, but instead gently turned her around; I slowly and carefully returned my wings back against my body and leaned down to whisper into her ear.

"Luna," It was said so quiet it was barley audible. "You must go. Do not look back." She tried to protest, but I just looked her in the eye and she subdued. "Once you're far enough away so they can't hear you, you may rest."

She whimpers sadly, wings stuck to her back, ears down; she ran.

I turn away from Luna, only hearing her tiny hooves slapping on the leaves, wet from chocolate rain-"

"Chocolate rain!? That... illogical... impossible!!!" Twilight bursts out.

'Twilight, you're forgetting one little thing- hes the embodiment of chaos!" I giggle and poke her in the side.
