Rainbow Dash’s Bizarre Adventure

“I’m sorry Mrs. Whistles, but this sort of behavior from your daughter is unacceptable,” A female voice bellowed from the principal’s office at Cloudsdale Academy. She had her voice raised towards a woman with light orange hair and who wore a basic casual outfit while carrying a purse.

She sighed and replied, “I suppose I can’t change your mind, principal Spitfire,” Windy Whistles said, “But what do you suggest we do to take action?”

“It’s as simple as transferring her to another school, because our academy is a place for learning values and building civilized relationships, in other words, not the place for kids who beat each other into mush and then blame it on ghosts possessing them,” Spitfire explained, “I remember we had another student who left voluntarily, who was a friend of Dash’s, and she went to Canterlot High, maybe that would be a good starting option,” She stated.

“But I’m not just lying and blaming it on ghosts, never before have I lied to you, or to my mom,” The girl beside Windy, Rainbow Dash, retorted, getting off her seat in anger.

“I kept an entire file of all the petty excuses you tried to use in the past months, none of which I fell for, why should I believe you specifically now?” Spitfire replied, Rainbow was speechless and flustered, so she just sat back down and crossed her arms.

“Alright, I’ll see what I can do about your suggestion,” Windy said.

“Okay then,” Spitfire spoke, “By the way, if things don’t get any better, I heard Crystal Prep has a vacancy or two,” She joked, just to spite Dash.

The school day started at Canterlot High, students were arriving by bus, on foot or being dropped off by their parents. Rainbow took the bus that day and arrived just on time. As much as she tried to be and look cool, she was quite nervous, she knew nobody at that school, and what was to say her old friend that transferred there was still around? When she was at Cloudsdale, it was because her parents moved into town for work, it was quite likely they found a better place and moved again. Canterlot High’s principal found Rainbow and asked her to go to the principal’s office to be introduced to the school and such, and so she did.

“Hello Rainbow, sorry for not properly saying ‘hi’ or anything earlier, I’m principal Celestia,” She introduced herself, “Care for a cup of tea?” She kindly asked.

“Um, sure,” Rainbow replied and Celestia gave her a small plastic cup with hot tea, but Rainbow quickly noticed it was two cups stacked into each other.

“Anyway, I don’t need to tell you why you’ve been sent here, to our humble school,” Celestia began, “It was due to you sending another Cloudsdale student to the hospital,” She said.

“Yeah,” Rainbow said, sipping on her tea and slightly burning her mouth.

“Then, according to Ms. Spitfire, you claimed it was because of a ghost, or as you put it, an ‘evil spirit’,” Celestia continued.

“Yeah…” Rainbow started to get more nervous and insecure as the conversation went on.

“I won’t immediately label you as a liar, but I’m skeptical of your claims about this ‘evil spirit’,” Celestia spoke, “But that’s a topic for another time, for now, finish your tea, take this schedule and get to class,” She finished, handing Rainbow a slip of paper with the times for each class in each day of the week. She left the office and headed for the first class of the day.

At the classroom, Rainbow was introduced to the other students by the teacher, who then proceeded with his lesson as she sat down. Rainbow wasn’t the type to take note of every little thing written on the teacher’s blackboard, if she did write anything down, it’d be a vague outline, and that’s exactly what she did, amid crudely doodling her colorful lightning bolt symbol, which was also present on her jacket. The minutes passed and the students were allowed to leave for recess, with Rainbow deciding to sit on her own near the sports court. She ate peacefully alone until a face very familiar to her appeared and sat down next to her, she turned to face her and saw a girl with long, pink hair and a light green sweater.

“Hi Rainbow,” Said Fluttershy, “I didn’t know you transferred here,” She added.

“Yeah, today’s my first day in this place,” Rainbow replied, “To be honest, I didn’t expect you to still be here by now, but, hey, it’s nice to have one familiar face around,” Rainbow went on. They surely wanted to talk more, but a swift soccer ball to Fluttershy’s face was enough to stop the conversation.

“Watch where you’re sitting, you little shy idiot!” The kicker said, trying a bit too hard to be intimidating and funny, but only one other soccer player in the field was so much as giggling.

“Hey, what do you think you’re doing?!” Rainbow yelled out. That was when a nerdy girl with purple hair closed her laptop to see what was going on just behind her.

“What does it look like, eh?” The soccer player continued to try and be tough as she adjusted her glasses.

“Like you’re being a massive jerk!”

“Oh, really? And what now, do you intend on doing anything about it?” She asked. Rainbow got up off the bench and walked towards the player, who was still chuckling as if nothing would happen. Dash grabbed the player by the shirt collar and threatened her.

“Nobody goes around being a jerk to my friends, not on my watch,” Rainbow said as a ghostly figure appeared behind her, a robotic humanoid with a Mohawk, sunglasses and what looked like bell-bottom pants. Rainbow reeled back her fist, as did the figure, and the two of them hit the player at once, Rainbow hitting her in the stomach and the figure getting her in the face, which broke her glasses. Anyone who was looking gasped in shock, especially Fluttershy and the purple-haired girl, who seemed to react as if they saw Rainbow’s ‘evil spirit’. She picked up the two halves of the player’s glasses and her spirit’s hands became one with her own as it crudely attached the two pieces back together, making the lenses connect at a wide angle instead of at a straight line, “That’s the worst I’ll be doing to you, just so you’ll learn.”

The rude soccer player got up soon after and put on her then asymmetrical glasses, not knowing what even happened earlier.

All students were dismissed and went to their homes, the nerdy girl who saw the brief fight at Canterlot High headed into her home and straight to her room, which was labeled ‘Twilight Sparkle’ with a star decal beside the words. There, she pulled on a big plank attached to her desk by drawer rails. It was intended for keeping a keyboard for a desktop computer, but she used it to keep a sort of chart of pictures, short sentences and colored lines, not unlike something one would see in a true conspiracy theorist’s room. In a drawer just to the side, Twilight kept a diary, documenting all her supposed sightings of strange events in town.

As soon as she picked up a mechanical pencil from the holder on the desk, she began to write down the events in her diary.

May 16th, Dear Diary,

I may have found another one, earlier today, a new girl at school hit a bully, but not only did she hit her twice at once, she was able to fix the bully’s glasses through some sort of ability. Restoration, maybe? I’ll need to dive deeper into this situation. I’ll update when necessary.

The next day, Rainbow Dash arrived at school and was greeted by Fluttershy at the main hall.

“Hi there, Dashie,” She said, “Um… Thanks for defending me yesterday,” She added.

“It was nothing,” Rainbow responded, “Like old times, I guess,” she chuckled. Before class started, Twilight tried finding Rainbow to ask her some questions, but by the time she did find her, the bell had already rung and they all had to get to class.

During recess, Rainbow decided to wander the school halls as opposed to going outside or staying in the cafeteria, and Twilight saw that as a good opportunity to know more about what had happened.

“Hey!” Twilight attempted to get Rainbow’s attention, and succeeded.

“Oh, hi,” Rainbow said, “Do I… Know you?” She asked.

“I sit kinda far from you at the classroom, so, you probably don’t see me much,” Twilight replied, “My name’s Twilight, Twilight Sparkle, glad to meet you!”

“Well, hi Twilight! Anyway, what do you want?” Rainbow questioned.

“I just wanted to ask some questions regarding what happened yesterday, you know, you punching that bully and all,” Twilight started, “How much do you know about that weird ghost thing that follows you around and fights with you?”

That question came out quite suddenly, taking Rainbow by surprise, but she tried to answer truthfully, “Well, I think it’s been with me since I was born,” She responded, leaning against a locker, “It has some pretty cool powers, I suppose… But why are you asking?”

Twilight stumbled on her words for a second, but by the time she got herself on track, something caught their attention. Off to Rainbow’s left, just a meter or so down the corridor, was a puddle that was definitely not there prior. A trail of droplets that led further down the hall and into the puddle felt very much off, it’s wasn’t even wet footprints, it hadn’t rained too heavily at all the previous days, although, it was stated in the weather report that it would rain that same afternoon.

“What the heck is this?” Twilight asked as she crouched to look into the puddle. It was perfectly clean water, very reflective, like a proper mirror. She looked closer and she very briefly saw an eye open inside of it, just before an arm formed out of the water and grabbed her head.

“Crap!” Rainbow shouted, “Machine Head!” She summoned her spirit again and it punched the arm, making it let go of Twilight, who fell sitting down and scuttled back before getting up beside Rainbow, who was also starting to back away from the water. Slowly but surely, more was added to the hand and forearm in the water, first the rest of the arm, then a shoulder, then an entire person was appearing from that one puddle.

“So, here you are, the newest Stand user in the school,” The boy in the puddle said, smiling from ear to ear in a rather menacing way.
