//-------------------------------------------------------// The Love of the Sun -by PrincessCelestiaRules- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1 Celestia Pov Celestia signed the final paper. Her work was finished. She glanced up at the clock above the doors of the throne room. It was 6:33 Pm. She let out a tired sigh and got to her hooves. Trotting out of the throne room she wondered what she should do. Luna was probably doing her dream work already, and Celestia already lowered the sun half an hour ago. I could go for a fly, Celestia thought, I mean I haven't went for a fly in awhile. She liked the idea of going for a fly. Celestia grinned as she made her way to her chambers. She knew if she went flying that the guards would insist in coming with her. And Celestia didn't want that. She had a plan. She gave a slight nod to the guards at the door of her chambers. As if she were going to turn in for the night. Celestia entered her room. Shutting the door behind her and casting a charm on it so nopony could hear her. She messed up her bed to make it look as if she slept in it at some point in time. Just in case somepony came in. Celestia trotted toward her balcony door opened it, glancing down at the guards below. If she flew out here they would most likely see her. The white mare ignited her horn and teleported just outside Canterlot. Shifting her swan-like wings a bit she took flight. Letting the cool night air whip at her face. Celestia had to admit. Luna did a spectacular job with her nights. The stars were bright and constellations were scattered across the dark sky. Celestia chuckled when she remembered how dull the nights she had created were. She had gotten complaints from stargazers across Equestria for years. Soon enough, Celestia caught herself flying in the direction of the Everfree forest. The solar princess didn't really know why she wanted to go there. But she did. Celestia grinned as she spotted the old castle in the distance, wondering if she should head there. Celestia spotted a clearing in the dense canopy of the dark trees. Tilting her body downwards, she dove down, landing on the mushy grass. Celestia shook one of her front hooves, getting rid of the muck that covered the bottom of her shoe. Then, she started to walk. Most ponies would consider it stupid or reckless to head into the Everfree on their own. But honestly Celestia felt as if she could take care of herself, she was an alicorn after all. Celestia kept on walking through the forest, having a faint idea of where she wanted to go. It was a place that she and Luna always visited as fillies. Celestia just wanted to see if it was still there. The white mare soon found her destination. It was surprisingly beautiful for being in the Everfree Forest though. It was a clear pool of water with a small waterfall flowing into it, flowers adorned the tiny clearing, in shades of blue, yellow, blue, and red. Celestia felt a faint smile start to form as she trotted into the clearing. Reminiscing the memories she had from this place. She then stretched out one of her wings and dipped it into the cool water. Celestia jumped slightly at the freezing water that touched her wing, but then relaxed. Folding her wing back onto her back, she lay down beside the shore. Watching the tiny ripples of water as they reached the grassy shore. Just enjoying the beautiful place she now lay at. ** Celestia didn't know how long she was there, but honestly, she couldn't care less. That was, until she heard a faint growl from somewhere behind her. The alicorn spun around, now standing up. Her horn lowered into a defensive pose. After a series of crashes and grunts, something lumbered out into the clearing. Celestia blinked at the creature. It resembled a dragon slightly, but its horns were twisted like a goat and it didn't have wings. Its body was a mix of scales and fur, and it had paws instead of talons. It was a dark red and its eyes were what scared her the most, they were endless black voids. The creature stared at the solar princess. Celestia backed up slowly, unfolding her wings as she did so. Suddenly, the creature lunged. Celestia rolled to the side attempting to avoid the snapping jaws. But the monster caught her wing in its grasp. A bolt of pain shot through her side. She gritted her teeth and blasted the creature away with a bolt of magic. While the creature was down, Celestia examined her wing, there were jagged teeth marks on it and Celestia couldn't even lift it back onto her back without damaging it more. Its broken, well, there goes the flying out of this place plan. Celestia mused, turning her attention back to the dragon-like creature. It had gotten up from her blast, and was now shaking violently. Fire was pouring out from its open maw. It then charged again. Celestia let out an 'eep' and rolled to the side, much to her wing's dismay. The creature turned and blasted fire in Celestia's direction, which wasn't much of a surprise, it did look half dragon. Celestia summoned a shield to protect herself from the burning flames hurtling towards her. After the monster stopped, she sent a shrinking spell at it, hoping to make it less dangerous at least. But the creature merely slapped it away with its tail, which should be impossible. The mare was frozen in place. W..what! But how is that... Celestia didn't even have time to react as it went galloping towards her. Celestia let out a shriek of pain as it collided with her. Immediately squashing her. Celestia's wing screamed in agony as she tried to get out of its grasp. The dragon creature started summoning its fire, its paws holding Celestia in place. Celestia squeezed her eyes shut, bracing herself for the impact. But it never came. Celestia pried open one eye and saw that the creature was now off her. But where was it now? Celestia jumped up and saw its body laying limp on the grass beside the pool. But that was not was shocked her the most. What shocked her the most, was the pony standing over it. For it was none other, then King Sombra. Author's Note Short I know. But i wrote this at night. Don't blame me im tired. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2 Celestia Pov Celestia never expected to see Sombra again. After he was banished once more, she had never expected to hear his name again. After everything. She expected to almost forget about him. But here he was. Standing only a few feet away from her. Now meeting her fearful gaze with his, surprisingly calm, red eyes. Celestia couldn't move, nor could she breath. This has to be a dream, it just has to... Celestia had little hope in that thought. Sombra took a step in Celestia's direction, now smirking mockingly. And with that, Celestia finally came back to her senses and stumbled to get up, only to collapse back onto the cool grass. Her whole body screaming in agony. More than it should have. That creature nearly crushed her though. Sombra now was right in front of her. Celestia shut her eyes, preparing for him to do something, something to harm her, something to try and kill her with. But she never felt anything. Celestia blinked as she felt something warm fall onto her back. She turned her head and saw that Sombra's cape was now sprawled out on her back. "W..what..." Celestia stammered, staring up at the grey unicorn in shock. Sombra chuckled, reaching a hoof down towards her. "Even if I wanted to harm you, I can't, use your eyes Celestia, I'm too weak." Celestia could see more clearly now, Sombra couldn't harm her. He was weak. His eyes were still red, but no shadow's were there. His horn wasn't curved, he was starving by the looks of it. Celestia let Sombra lift her up back onto her hooves. It was not like she had much of a choice anyway. She gritted her teeth as the pain rolled throughout her body. Trying not to fall over once more. And unfortunately, Sombra seemed to notice this. "Funny, how are you going to explain that to your sister?" Sombra said, his smirk widening. "Shut up." Celestia deadpanned. "I'll tell her the truth." Sombra lifted Celestia's head slightly so he could meet her gaze, and Celestia then realized that he was taller than her by a small bit. "Oh, is that so? You'll tell her that you got beaten by a creature that you had no idea existed and then got saved by your worst enemy?" Celestia didn't say anything. What could she say. He was right. Luna would be livid. No not livid, she would be BEYOND livid. Celestia learned that the hard way. "Figured." Sombra said after a few moments of silence. "Your sister is not the type to listen, isn't she." The mare scowled at the grey unicorn, pushing him away from her. Ignoring the pain of the sudden movement. Sombra barely reacted, all he did was lift his coat from Celestia's back and then went back to grinning like a lunatic. And without another word. He left. Luna Pov "WHAT!" Luna screeched, causing the guard to flinch back. "WHAT DOES THOU MEAN THY SISTER IS GONE!" "I..im sorry Your Majesty." The guard said shakily. "She wasn't there when we checked." "Just wonderful." Luna hissed under her breath. "Even the guards are getting dumber by the day." It was just a normal day as far as Luna could remember, until Celestia didn't show up for breakfast at all. When Luna asked to go check on her, the guards wouldn't budge for around an hour. And when she finally got in she figured out her elder sister ran off. Oh Luna was going to have a serious talk with her sister when she gets back. "Would you like me to send a party out to look for her?" The guard asked, snapping the Lunar Princess out of her trance. "No, w- I will go and look for her. Knowing my sister she probably went off for a walk or fly somewhere." Luna replied curtly, brushing the guard off. "Okay Princess, tell me if you need anything." Like you'd be any help anyway. Luna mused. Trotting away from the ditzy guard. She had a good idea of where to start. Well. Not really. Her plan was to fly around first. To see if she could find Celestia. Just as she came to her chambers. She heard a pop. Spinning around, she prepared to blast whomever dare sneak up on her. That was until she saw who it was. "CELESTIA!" Luna shrieked barreling into her older sister. Who let out a faint 'oof' as she fell. "WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN! I HAVE BEEN WORRIED SICK!" Luna screamed, using the Royal Canterlot Voice. Which by now barely phased her sister. "Luna.." Celestia hissed, for Luna was still practically sitting on top of her. "Get off me. I may be an alicorn but I need air." "Oops." Luna shook her head, getting off her sister, before realizing she was supposed to be mad at Celestia. "WAIT A MINUTE! ANSWER MY QUESTIONS!" Luna screamed, shaking her sister back and forth. Causing Celestia to let out a gasp of pain. "Wait Whats wr-" Luna started. But then her eyes lowered to Celestia's back. Where on wing was laying limp, and was clearly bleeding. "CELESTIA WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU!" Celestia slapped her hooves across Luna's mouth, "Can you stop screaming." She said in a low whisper. "Please?" Luna nodded, narrowing her eyes at Celestia. And as soon as she did. Luna was talking once more. "Seriously Celestia. What happened to your wing." Luna demanded. Celestia rolled her eyes at her younger sister. Before opening the door to Luna's room. "Can we talk in here. I don't want to risk being overheard." Luna just nodded, opening the door and trotting inside. Celestia following. Luna grinned. "Now you'll tell me." Celestia sighed. "Just a moment." Before placing a sound blocking spell on the door. "NOW nopony can overhear us." Luna gritted her teeth. "Celestia I swear if you don't tell me now what happened I will break your other wing." "Long story? Or short?" Celestia asked, but before Luna could respond. "Never mind. My wing hurts a lot right now so just to get this over with so I can get it fixed. Short story." "Fine. But your telling me the long story later." Luna grimaced. Crossing her hooves across her chest like a filly. "Fine." Celestia mumbled. "Well. I finished work and I wasn't in the mood to go to bed. So I went for a fly. Then I got attacked by this weird dragon creature in the Everfree-" "WAIT YOU WENT TO THE EVERFREE?!" Luna shrieked. "TIA ARE YOU CRAZY?!" "Yes, I am. Now as I was saying I was attack by this creature in the Everfree. And I thought I could take it. But somehow it managed to repel all of the spells. And it managed to break my wing in the process. But I escaped before anything else could happen." Celestia finished. Luna narrowed her eyes. "Where was this?" "In the Everfree." Celestia deadpanned. "I know that! I mean what part of the Everfree." Luna hissed. Why is she being so cryptic? "The spot where we used to go as fillies. Now Luna I'm really tired. So I'm going to get my wing fixed up. Then sleep for a bit. I'm honestly exhausted." Celestia replied, trotting out of the room. Leaving Luna with her thoughts. Luna stared at the ceiling. Celestia is acting odd. And I'm going to figure out why.
