When Brony DnD doesn't happen soon enough.
Author's Note
To give you an idea of what my OC "Light Heart" looks like; he is an alicorn with a yellow coat with blue shaggy hair. His cutie mark is a teddy bear.
I hope you enjoy.
A tour gone wrong.
Light Heart was strolling through the hallway of the rift. He was smiling enjoying being able to see the bronies that inspired him. He knew that he wasn’t a member, but being allowed to tour the place was amazing. As he started to wonder who he could chat with, he saw Dr Wolf talking to Aeon of Dreams. Light Heart didn’t trust Aeon. He heard about the tricks Aeon’s pulled to the other reviewers in the rift. Light Heart didn’t mind the occasional prank, but something just didn’t feel right about him.
Light started thinking to himself, "If Aeon does any tricks I'm going to..."
His thoughts were interrupted by Doc's voice.
His voice wasn’t warm and welcoming as usual, but cold and irritated. "I'm in no mood for whatever you're planning. Get out of my way."
Aeon gave a sinister smile. "Oh, come on my good doctor, it's just a small spell and it's only temporary. Don't you want to have a little fun?"
Doc didn't look like his usual self. He looked unfazed and stern. His stares could send chills down any normal reviewers spine.
Light figured that Doc would try to talk himself out this, but instead he just grabbed Aeon by the shoulder and brought him down to eye level. "Aeon, I'm not dumb enough to do whatever you're planning, and I'm not in a good mood. Now move or be moved!"
Light Heart was shocked to see Doc like this, but Aeon didn't flinch.
As a matter of fact, he even chuckled. "Come on Doc, do you really think that a small little wolf can intimate..."
Before Aeon could finish his sentence Doc landed a swift punch to Aeons head, completely knocking him out. Doc stormed away without saying anything.
Jasper Pie ran over trying to collect his words. "D-d-did, I-I-I, w-w-what did my eyes just see?"
"THAT PUNCH!!! IT WAS BEAUTIFUL!" Light said as he started laughing at the scene.
Jasper was still trying to regain his composer from seeing the calmest wolf he knew knocking out someone.. "I didn't think that a tiny fist could do that. What should we do?"
Light heart had to catch his breath before speaking. "Okay, first things first; let’s take a picture."
Light took a picture with Aeons unconscious body before Jasper dragged him to the nurses’ station. Light Heart laughed a little bit until he started thinking about it. He always figured that Aeon would push someone too far, but Doc? He always used his words, not his fist.
"Probably needs a vacation again. It seems like everyone here overworks themselves." He thought to himself.
It didn't sound right, but that's what he decided to go with.
As Light Heart started to get back to looking for something to do he saw Sweetie Bloom walk by and stop him. Her hair was a bit frazzled, but she talked rather normally. "Hey, did you see my dog come by?"
Light Heart was a bit startled seeing someone like her asking him for help. "Uh, I didn't know you had a dog. I am just visiting."
Sweetie shrugged and just kept walking. "Well, tell me if you see it."
As she walked out Light tried calling for her. "I don't even know what it looks like! I mean, is it a he or a she? What breed is it?"
When Sweetie Bloom walked off Light just shrugged and started walking away.
As he started making his way down the hall he heard a small voice gently call out to him. "Is she gone?" Light saw a young goat like kid hiding behind a closet door.
He quietly walked over to her. "Yes? What's going on?"
Her eyes quickly darted around the room as she tried to explain. "Sweetie keeps calling me a dog, and is treating me like one. She keeps feeding me weird stuff and asking me to do tricks. When she tried putting a leash on me I ran away. Can you not tell her where I am?"
Light Heart didn’t understand, but he decided to go with it. "Um, okay. It'll be like I never saw you."
As Light walked off a thought crossed his mind. "I should have asked for her name. I'm always bad with names."
Light Heart just decided to just call this whole "dog" thing the usual craziness. He guessed that he just had to accept the fact that these ponies were just like him; a bit goofy and crazy at times. As Light started walking towards the lobby for a cup of hot chocolate he started hearing someone picking at a guitar. It wouldn't have been so bad if it was in tune. The best way to describe it is like someone picking at a wire fence.
He started walking towards the source of the sound while muttering to himself. "I enjoy music, but cruel and unusual punishment is something else."
He went around the corner to see Fynn picking at a guitar. Fynn noticed him walking in and smiled. "Oh, hi there! How's it going?"
Light Heart didn’t expect to see Fynn of all ponies trying to play an instrument. He decided that he needed to figure out why he was trying this in the first place. "Fine, I guess. What are you doing to that guitar?"
Fynn smiled as he continued to play his “song” "I thought I'd cheer up my friends with some music. I admit that I'm not doing well, but I think I'll get the hang of it eventually. Why do you ask?"
Light looked at his innocent face for a second, until he just smiled, nodded, and walked away. "Nope, not today."
He walked into the lobby and sat down at a table. He started thinking about the events that were happening. He was told that unusual things happen around here, but he felt like this was something else.
"What's going on around here?" Light Heart thought to himself as he waited for his order.
He turned to a nearby booth see Eliyora going through several books. Her hair was even more frazzled then Sweetie's. Her sentences were all circled around one topic. "More, more! I need more books! I need more knowledge!"
Light was just confused. She was already one of the smartest bronies there. Why would she be doing this? He started to think more about this. "Okay, there has to be some sort of pattern to this madness. It can't be Aeon, he's taking a nap. What is the common factor here?"
"Drink this!" Light Heart turned to see Voice offering a cup of something full of multiple colors and chunks he couldn't make out.
Light looked at it for a few moments before asking. "What is it?"
Voice just smiled. "You need it more than I do, drink it!"
Light decided to use the simplest form of common sense. "No, thanks."
Voice walked off offering other ponies the glass. Light Heart started thinking again.
Slowly he started putting together the pieces. "Wait a second. They all meet up for brony D&D, and they haven't been able to do it for a couple of months. So that means..."
Suddenly he heard a commotion coming from the hallway. Several bronies ran down the hallway with scared looks on thier faces. He could hear a monstrous scream from where everybody was running from.
Light ran into the hall to see a golden dragon with rainbow hair rampaging down the hall. "Run, cowards! I'm going to suplex a tree and no one is going to stop me!"
As everyone else was running around in a mass panic Light Heart just had a blank expression on his face. "Okay, I know what's going on, and I've had enough. Well, maybe I’ll take a picture first."
After taking a quick photo Light Heart walked around the chaos and into Firebrand's door.
He was rather impressed to see this military base in person for the first time, but he knew that the base was only as good as the ponies in it. As he looked around he found Firebrand deep at work at his desk writing what Light Heart believes is the next D&D session. "Oh, yes! They'll never see it coming! They will fall right in to my little trap. Ha ha ha!"
As Firebrand laughed maniacally, he turned for a second to see Light Heart standing behind him. His eyes instantly widened. "What! How did you get in here?"
Light Heart pointed to the door that he went through. "I went through your door in the Rift. It seemed obvious to me at the time."
Firebrand didn’t believe a word he said. "But it has a bran new state of the art locking mechanism; which I bought after almost everybody in the rift broke through the lousy piece of junk."
Light Heart shrugged. "I had no problem getting in."
His secretary walked by who was busy with her own duties. "Don't forget to lock the door this time sir."
Firebrand instantly face palmed. "Well, I guess there's no pony to blame but me this time. So, I'm guessing you want to do a collab?"
Light Heart’s eyes widened as one of the coolest bronies in the rift just made him the offer of a life time, but he knew why he was there. Light sadly sighed as he got back to the problem at hand. "Maybe later. First I want to say thank you for serving our country. We all appreciate what you do. Second I want to say that I am a big fan of your work. You are one of my favorite bronies and I love your reviews. And third and most important; When is the next brony D&D session? I'm just curious. Not wanting in. Just wondering."
Firebrand was shocked that someone broke into his base not wanting to do a review. He stumbled over his words as he tried to process this request. "Um, well I'm still working on it, but I'm pretty busy on a few other projects. It'll probably be a couple of weeks before I'm ready. Why?"
At first Light Heart wanted to scream at him to hurry up, but then he just smiled. "Just asking. Do you want to tell the members of your little D&D group? They might be getting a little antsy by now."
Firebrand nodded. "Good idea."
They both stepped out of the door to see the madness that was going on outside. Lightning Bliss was smashing through the hallway. Dr Wolf was punching her on the foot. Voice was trying to pour the glass that he offered Light earlier into Bliss's mouth. Eliyora was shooting magic at Bliss while going through her books. Sweetie was calling for her "dog" to no avail. And Fynn was playing a rather poor attempt at a song. Firebrand watched in shock and horror as the chaos unfolded.
Light Heart grinned a bit as he saw the look on Brands face. "I'm new here, but I'm pretty sure that they do this all the time."
The fight suddenly stopped as the crazed bronies saw Firebrand. Bliss turned back into an alicorn and everyone lined up in front of him, giving him a crazy stare and smile.
Bliss spoke up. "So Firebrand..."
Doc stopped her. "Let Fynn do it. He has the best diplomacy here."
Fynn smiled as he stepped in front of everyone. "So Firebrand, we are probably all wondering when the next D&D session is. So will it be soon by any chance?"
Everyone looked in anticipation.
As Brand stood there with a scared look on his face Light Heart spoke up. "Well, I just talked to him and he said that he'll be ready..."
Firebrand quickly interrupted before Light could finish his sentence. "Tomorrow! We'll do it tomorrow!"
Everyone gave a sigh of relief and walked off.
Firebrand turned to Light and gave him a rather annoyed look. "This was why you got me in the first pace, wasn't it?"
Light Heart just gave him a rather confident grin. "Yep, and it's the closest I'll ever get to saving Equestria. Well, I've had my thrills for the day. I'm going home."
Firebrand watched as Light Heart simply walked through the door leading back to Equestria, after taking a battle ax out of it.
Light Heart stopped for a second as he looked at the ax. "Where did... You know what, forget it!"
