This Is Just The Beginning
It's been a few months since the wedding of Princess Cadence and Prince Shining Armor. Shining Armor has been sitting around lazily on his bed in the Crystal Empire. And for some strange reason, he's starting to miss the days where he was just a regular pony. He was leader of the royal guards sure, but he was still....himself.
He sighed sadly and sat up. Princess Cadence was off on an personal trip with her family for a few weeks, so he had nothing to do for awhile.
"What to do, what to do...?"
He looked around the room, and he spotted something shiny and..glowing..?
He got up from the bed slowly, still looking at the object trying to identify it. Walking towards it, he finally realized what it was:
A gold necklace with a diamond heart charm. But this necklace wasn't Cadence's. It most definitely isn't. Cadence doesn't wear jewlery like this..
This was his ex's. Her name was Krystal Rays. He knew it was hers because it had her and his intitials ingraved on the front of the heart.
"S+K.. Shining plus Krystal.."
He didn't know why it was here of all places. He thought for sure that Krystal took this with her. Or did HE take it with him..?
Shining thought about it. He couldn't seem to remember.
"Krystal doesn't live here..why is it just laying around on the ground..? Did I not notice when I was unpacking? Why didn't Cadence notice..?"
He started thinking about Krystal more, remembering all the good times he had with that mare..
(10 years ago..)
"Shiny.. We'll be together forever, right?"
Krystal asked, her sweet and gentle voice was like music to Shining's ears. She was holding onto him tightly. They were underneath a warm blanket cuddling up to each other in front of the fireplace on a snowy day in December.
They were at her house, since Shining technically wasn't allowed to date yet, as he was only 15 years old, they kept it a secret from his parents.
"Yes, of course Krystal . I love you. I won't let anypony come between us. No matter what."
Krystal smiled, looking up at him. The small glow in her purple eyes and the soft smile on her face drove him absolutely bonkers. That was the face that made him fall for her in the first place.
He kissed her gently. And she kissed back.
They stayed like that for awhile, not letting go of one another. They didn't want to let go of one another.
Shining broke the kiss, but he did it slowly, he didn't want to stop, but he was starting to run out of air.
They looked into each others eyes and Krystal whined in slight disappointment.
"Shiny..Why'd you stop?"
She gave a pouty lip, but Shining thought she still looked as cute as ever.
"Cuz, if we kept going, I would've passed out. You literally took my breath away."
Krystal giggled and kissed his cheek.
"Awwe, well, you should've told me."
Krystal got up and sat in Shining's lap. She's never really been the type to be assertive, but she's been waiting to give him something special for awhile now.
Shining held her waist, she always did have a nice body shape, it wasn't a full-on hourglass, but he liked her the way she was.
"I know I've turned you down so many times, but I'm ready now.. For...you know what.. We've been dating a while, and I've decided that I want to give myself to you permanently.."
Shining happily obliged, and they shared another long kiss as well as a tight, loving hug

Shining thought about why they separated in the first place.
Shining's mom and dad figured out they were dating a couple years after thier first time. They forced the two to break up, Krystal was, of course, devastated. But that didn't compare to how Shining felt. He lost his first love. His first kiss. His first..time.. Krystal moved about a month after that, and they just lost connection.
"What a horrible end to such a great love story.."
He picked up the necklace and held it in his hands. It shimmered brightly in the in the daylight sun. His eyes actually started to water.
He just remembered how badly he missed her. Yeah, he has Cadence now, and she's great. But she doesn't even compare to Krystal. He knew that. Krystal was first, and she'll always be first to him.
He decided that he wanted to find her, but that's gonna be hard. Figuring out where she was would be a challenge, but he's willing to take it. He wants to see her again. He NEEDS to see her again.
Shining remembered that once they broke up, he desperately wanted to get back together again, against the will of his parents. But Krystal declined, saying that it would only make things worse, and she didn't want him to get in trouble again.
"If we got caught again, I'd never be allowed to even see your face." Krystal said. It was obvious that she had been upset, her voice was monotone, her eyes had been bloodshot from crying.
"I'm moving anyway, I doubt that you'll ever see me again. Nor will you remember me if we do meet again.."
As Krystal started to turn to walk away, Shining grabbed her hand. She turned back around to see Shining, tears flowing down his face.
"I'll never forget you Krystal. No matter what, I'll love you forever."
The two shared one last sweet kiss and a tight hug, and Krystal, with a new slight smile on her face, turned away and walked off, to never be seen again by Shining.
Shaking off that emotional memory, Shining held the necklace tightly. Even if it seemed like he forgot about Krystal, he still thought about it time and time again.
"Did I even really get over her?" Shining said with some doubt. He's kept Valentine's letters and notes from Krystal for years, and he's sure he still has some somewhere.
"Clearly not. I thought being with Cadence would fill the whole I had, but...she hasn't."
He's truly not over Krystal.
He at least has to give the necklace to her. Maybe talking to her again will give him some closure.
He grabbed his satchel, put the necklace in it, plus a few other things, and walked out the bedroom doors.
"I have to find her again, if it's the last thing I do."
