Thanksgiving

Previous Chapter

Nothing much else happened the rest of the day. Autumn ended up spending the night with Luna and Cinnamon while Celestia and Rain Shine cuddled until they fell asleep.

The next day, Luna and Cinnamon were awoken abruptly as Celestia ran into their hut.

"Sister, quick! Rain Shine found the spell," she said happily before leaving.

Luna and Cinnamon sat up and eyed each other.

"Does this mean you... are leaving?" The Kirin asked sadly.

Luna gave her a light smile and nodded. "I think it does, but... it does not mean that this is the last time we will see each other. I will visit often, okay?"

Cinnamon gave a nod before the two got up and got dressed. Once the loincloth was on, they left the hut to see Celestia and Rain Shine standing in the center of the village. Upon approach, Celestia looked at them and smiled.

"Well, let us see if this works," the white alicorn said, turning to face Rain Shine.

As their horns lit up, the other Kirin in the village gathered around them. The magic surrounding their horns became more and more intense before it combined into one and shot a large bolt up into the sky. When it was good distance above the Peaks, the magic burst into a dome-like shield that lowered, surrounding the entire area around the Peaks. Once it settled, it faded from view but Celestia and Rain Shine could still feel that it was there.

"Success," Celestia said with a smile.

Rain Shine nodded as Luna approached them.

"This mean we're leaving?" Luna asked.

"After we learn more about building," Celestia replied. "We may be here another day but we should focus on learning... instead of... doing," she said with a wink.

Luna smirked lightly before looking at Cinnamon. "Stay with me while I learn how to build?"

The Kirin nodded happily before Autumn came running out of their hut.

"Did I miss anything?" She asked worriedly.

Early the next morning, Rain Shine followed Celestia and Luna towards the passageway in the mountain the sisters used to get here. The other Kirin in the village were following as well, sad to see their new friends leave. None more upset than Cinnamon.

"Will we be seeing you again?" The Kirin leader asked with a smile.

Celestia nodded and smiled back. "Of course. We just have a kingdom to watch over and, now, improve... We will visit as often as we can."

"That is good to hear," the taller Kirin said, as if sighing with relief. "We have all enjoyed your company."

Luna looked from the leader at Cinnamon before walking over to her. "I will be thinking about you," she said with a smile, before hugging her.

Cinnamon hugged back tightly, nuzzling Luna's neck. "What if I came with you?"

The alicorn chuckled softly and shook her head, before pulling away. "It is dangerous out there. You will be safe here." The Kirin nodded slowly before receiving a kiss. After returning the kiss, Luna pulled away again before looking at Autumn Blaze. "Look after her for me?"

Autumn smiled and nodded. "As you wish, your majesty," she said playfully.

The blue mare shook her head with a smile, returning her gaze to Cinnamon again. "I will see you again."

Cinnamon gave a nod. "I know..."

Autumn then walked up next to her and put an arm around her. Luna placed her hand on the red Kirin's cheek before backing up to stand beside her sister again.

Rain Shine was simply smiling as she watched. When they had finished their farewell, she moved to stand in front of the group of Kirin. "We thank you for what you have given us. And, we hope that you can use what we have given you to make your kingdom as wonderful as it should be."

Celestia and Luna smiled at that. "You have helped us immensely. Thank you," the white alicorn replied.

"Thank you," Rain Shine cooed.

After a few seconds of silence, Celestia began to head into the passage. "We will visit soon!" She called back.

Luna kept her eyes on Cinnamon for another second or two before turning and following her sister. When she was out of sight, Cinnamon hung her head. Seeing this, Autumn pulled her into a hug.

Back at Canterlot...

Celestia and Luna stood on the cliff, overlooking their land.

"I can already picture the perfect Canterlot," the white princess said happily. "Rows and rows of homes. Places to acquire goods and services. And..." She trailed off when she noticed Luna had a slightly saddened expression. "After we set things in motion, you may go visit them."

"That is not what's on my mind, sister..." Luna said plainly.

"What's?" Asked Celestia with a smile. "You sound like Autumn."

"It's easier to speak this way," the younger sister replied. "But... I am thinking we should honor them somehow. For all they've done for us."

Celestia nodded and crossed her arms. "You mean have today dedicated to remembering them? A way of giving thanks for aiding in a better Canterlot?"

"Exactly," Luna said, a small smile appearing on her face. "On this day, every year, we celebrate."

"That sounds like a lovely idea, sister," the older sister cooed. "Any idea what we should call it?"

Luna thought for a moment. "A way to give thanks?" She asked, smiling. "I think I have it..."

"Well?" Her sister asked, eager to know. "What is it?"

The blue alicorn turned to her sister with a wide smile. "We'll call it..."
