Ripped this story straight from the pages of the Nightmare Night Diaperthology Vol I cause I really liked this one conceptually and feel it's the best of the bunch and good enough to stand on its own.
Want to write more out there fics like this in the future, maybe expand the setting more, not wholly sure but regardless of future endeavors enjoy the present morsel of a tale on your plate now and let me know what you think.
the [E]nd of equestria
“Twilight, are you really sure you had to go out of your way to babysit tonight of all nights?”
The alicorn princess took her attention away from jangling a set of plastic keys in front of her niece to address spike.
“I don’t mind at all, I’ve spent plenty of Nightmare nights partying and there will be many more to come. It’s Shining and Cadence’s turn for a little holiday fun.”
With a heavy sigh, the young dragon threw the piece of red cloth he was holding behind his back and tied it into a knot around his neck to complete his superhero look.
“Say, why can’t Flurry come with us trick or treating? I bet she’d have a lot of fun!”
“Flurry’s still a little too young to be trick or treating. One wrong trick or stray spook is enough for her to cast a spell on the whole town. Isn’t that right my little magical troublemaker of a foal?”
The rustling of the colorful toy intensified along with Flurry’s laughter as Twilight’s speech devolved into cute little cooing.
“Besides, it’s a great excuse to finish working on my new project. With these magically charged crystals, you can cast spells over incredibly long distances. Think of all the applications for this sort of thing. Just the sort of breakthrough I need to liven up my research.”
Spike knew convincing her wasn’t gonna go anywhere, especially with her mind stuck in science mode.
“You’re right.”
Spike twiddled his feet against some of the stray blocks the baby pony had been toying with earlier.
“I can’t wait till she’s older and we can all spend Nightmare Night together like… like…”
“A family.”
“Yeah!”
Twilight couldn’t help but giggle at her little dragon’s sincerity. She plopped a pacifier in Flurry Heart’s mouth and turned to embrace Spike.
“Don’t worry, the time will come soon enough. Go out there and enjoy a little you time with your friends.”
“Aww, Twilight, you always know what to say.”
After a few more tender moments locked in their hug, spike flew out of her arms and snagged his jack-o-lantern.
“Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got treats to nab. I’ll snag ya some candies along the way, call it the Nightmare Night princess tax.”
Twilight smiled, scooping up Flurry Heart to put into her sectioned off playpen.
“Do play too many tricks out there tonight, have fun.”
Without another word, Spike sprinted out of the library and down the castle corridors.
“Alright, with Spike on his merry way, I can get back to my research. Stay right there little Flurry, I’ll be back with a warm bottle so I can put you to bed.”
Twilight headed down another pathway leading to the kitchen.
Flurry Heart cheerily babbled away, playing with a plush lamb to her heart’s content. A shiny spark emanating from the crystals on Twilight’s work table, however, caught her attention. Whatever it was, she had to have it. She stretched her wings and rose to float out of the square prison, but bopped her head against a magical force field
Despite having the power of flight and endless font of magic within her horn, escape seemed unlikely. Twilight was smart enough to enchant the playpen after all.
The foals determination for shiny objects was a force not to be reckoned with. A bolt of energy discharged from her horn, ricocheting against the wall of the field and into the floor, causing a slight rumble from the table. Seeing the results of her work, she shot another blast, this time right at the ground. The shock shook it just enough to jangle not just the stray shiny crystal, but another dull looking shard off of Twilight’s workspace and onto a newly opened package of diapers under the table.
As the two crystals made contact within the various folds of padding within, a beam of light shot up into the the ceiling and refracting against the crystal walls of the castle. Swirls of pastel colors formed around the beam until it tapered off with a faint poof of smoke.
Flurry Heart simply giggled at the colorful display, oblivious to the ominous consequences that could come from such a reaction.
When Twilight returned several minutes later with a fresh, perfectly heated bottle, everything seemed to be as she left it. She carried on with the task at hand, picking up her baby niece and feeding her till her eyes grew too heavy to keep awake.
“Alright, with little Flurry taken care of, I can get back to business.”
She examined her work space, reaching for an empty spot on the table.
“Wait, I could have sworn I left the transmission crystal right here. And where’s the amplification gem, it was over-”
The sound of shattered glass sent Twilight into panic mode. She rushed toward the sound which seemed to emanate from the second floor of the library.
“Who’s there!? I’ll have you know breaking into a castle is a royal crime, show yourself now or you’ll only get into more trouble later!”
Twilight stood in front of Flurry Heart and readied a shield spell. From the shadows of the balcony fell a grey mare with a blonde mane and criss-crossed eyes.
“Derpy?”
The princess lowered her guard and approached the mail pony.
“What are you doing here, don’t you have Nightmare Night off? I’m not even expecting a package or anyth-”
As she got closer she noticed that Derpy didn’t seem to be herself. Her coat looked ruffled and creased and sported a plasticy shine to it. Strange seams and folds ran along her body, held together by tapes. If Twilight had to guess she’d assume that the pony splayed out before her was a living, breathing diaper.
“Huggies!”
Derpy lunged forward, but her clumsiness seemed to carry over in her strange state, as she tripped and stumbled into a bookshelf.
“What in Celsetia’s name?”
Before Twilight could question Derpy’s state further, the door to the library creaked open. A small crowd of ponies could be seem marching through the castle comprised of all the towns ponies she knew and loved, all lead by her close friends. Even Spike stood among them, each and every one of them crinkling along at a steady pace.
“Girls what’s going on? Why are you here? Did something happen or-”
As they grew closer and closer she noticed they were all respectively changed to look just like Derpy did. They approached Twilight, slowly starting up a chant with each step forward.
“Hugs, hugs, hugs, hugs.”
Twilight shot a bolt of magic containing a mass stop spell, but the crinkly material seemed to soak up the magic like nothing she’d ever seen before.
“Why isn’t any of my magic working!?”
She desperately cast every spell cataloged in her memory that could possibly revert the swelling mob of ponies encircling her, but none of it phased them.
“What’s wrong Twilight”
Rainbow Dash’s voice rang in Twilight’s ear.
“All we want is a hug? Don’t you like hugs, silly?”
“Please snap out of it, I don’t know what’s going on bu- but there has to be a reason for this, right? I’ll fix you guys just-”
“What’s there to fix?”
Pinkie Chimed in.
“We’re all happier than we’ve ever been. No worries no cares, just fluffy, poofy, crinkly minds and bodies. Why don’t you join us, it’s as easy as one, two, three! Just stretch out your arms big and wide and-”
The party pony charged in for a hug, but Twilight flew into the sky to avoid the attack. She whisked Flurry Heart into her hooves and sailed above the crowd and made her way to the throne room before any of the pegasi could catch up to her.
“I have to send a message to the other Celestia or Luna, if I can’t fix this they’re our only hope.”
After sealing off the room with a magical lock, she put the still sleeping foal onto one of the empty thrones and readied a relay spell to transfer a message to the princesses. Just as she was about to cast it, a familiar voice met her ears.
“Twily!”
The purple alicorn magic faded from her horn as she turned around.
“What’s wrong, don’t you want to give your big brother best friend forever a nice big hug?’
“Get away! I don’t know what’s going on but your can’t be my brother!”
“But I am. We’re all your old friends, can’t you see? We just embraced the warm, fluffy feels. Just relax and let us hug you, then you’ll see just how good it feels to give your body over to the crinkles.”
Sparks flew from Twilight’s horn as she charged up a spell.
“I-I’m warning you. There’s something wrong in Ponyville and I will do what I need to save you guys, so s-stay back or I’ll… I’ll”
A soft voice whispered behind Twilight.
“You’ll what?”
Before she could do anything at all, she felt the plastic embrace of a set of pink hooves around her chest.
“I’ll… I’ll...”
All her thoughts began to melt away. She wasn’t worried about sending some silly message or fighting Shining Armor. All she could think about was how good the hug felt; the soft, crinkly touch of her sister-in-law consumed her every moment of existence. Twilight wanted nothing more than to hug and be hugged by others. As she gave in, her limbs began to transform into the crinkly form that everypony else had. Her big girl thoughts and ideas drained out of her body. Inside herself she felt it all become warm and fluffy, with her knowledge and cares flowing through her to form a squishy center.
“Or I’ll give you a big ol’ hug silly goose!”
She ran out of Cadence’s hooves, her body semi-transformed, and locked her brother in the tightest bear hug of his life. As they locked together Twilight’s metamorphosis was complete.
“Thata girl, it’s not so bad now is it? Let the love flow through you, replacing everything with happy fluffy thoughts. Say goodbye to your old body and hello to non-stop happy times.”
With the assimilation of everyone in Ponyville complete, Shining and Cadence let their magical instincts guide them toward their next directive.
“Now every new kingdom needs a rightful ruler.”
The newly inducted trio of crinkle ponies knelt before Flurry Heart, who was still fast asleep on the throne, suckling away at her pacifier and clutching her stuffed lamb.
Twilight, Shining, and Cadence touched their horns together and shone a magical light onto the dreaming foal.
A bright flash shone throughout the room, and when it dissipated Flurry Heart was no longer a tiny little foal, but a majestic alicorn, even crinklier than the critters bowed before her.
She cooly removed the paficer from her plastic maw, petting the now animated stuffed lamb beside her.
“Thank you, mother, father, and dear aunt, for bestowing this magic upon me. This new form suits me as it does all my subjects.”
She stretched out her wings, crinkling as they flapped, ruffles and diaper taped now replacing the feathers they were once composed of.
“A from fitting the new ruler of Equestria, Crinkle Heart. Or soon to be, anyways, after i’m done remodeling things around here.”
A quick flash from her long horn transformed the room into a plushie paradise complete with a quilted throne and various stuffies brought to life prancing about.
“And, of course, converting the rest of the creatures that call this land home so that they too can share in this glorious diapered form. They’ll come to love being happy little crinkle critters in no time.”
She lifted her hoof, pointing to the door.
“Now go! Let the world come to know the joy in submitting to the rule of the diaper! Go forth and convert my lovely crinkle critters. For the glory of crinkly kind!”
In unison, the three new members of the royal court responded.
“For the glory of crinkly kind!”
