Thoughtfulness

Twilight was sitting near a lake in Ponyville as she was reading some ideas for a summit that she could have with Queen Novo as she hasn't had a summit with her in like a few months which was a few years after the Storm King's attack, she was also thinking back to how she had signed up for her first ballet class years ago and where she was today with her lessons and her performances as she thought back on her progress as a dancer and thought about other things Rainbow Dash, her friend the athlete and bearer of the element of loyalty was jogging right along the trail path and Twilight didn't notice her at first as she was to buried into her list, Rainbow Dash stopped and tapped Twilight on the head.

"Twilight, reading your book....like always?" Rainbow Dash teased, Twilight shrugged as she really didn't want to respond to that.

"Yes I am...what trouble are you in now?" Twilight asked, Rainbow Dash stared at her with a look of disbelief.

"I'm not in any trouble at all, just because I'm a nuisance sometimes doesn't mean I do bad stuff all the time." Rainbow Dash said defending herself, Twilight couldn't disagree with that.

"Of coarse not, I didn't say you were bad all the time I was just teasing you." Twilight said, Rainbow Dash sighed as she leaned to the side for a bit.

"How long have you been here? It's not often for you to be outside for to long." Rainbow Dash asked Twilight, Twilight raised an eyebrow.

"I have been outside for long periods of time reading books and going on picnics so I don't know where you got that from, if you think I'm an indoors person then that's wrong, I know I'm a recluse but I'm not that shy to go out." Twilight said.

"That's right, you may be a recluse but you still get out so that's good." Rainbow Dash remarked.

"Gee thanks a lot." Twilight responded in a sarcastic tone making Rainbow Dash smirk.

"I was just saying! No need to get offended by it, so what were you doing out here with that book of yours?" Rainbow Dash asked.

"I'm glad you asked, I was getting ideas for a summit with Queen Novo and...that's about it. Would you like to see the plan for it?" Twilight asked holding it up for her friend.

"Nah maybe later can I show you something? You will like it a lot!" Rainbow Dash asked her friend, Twilight gave her a suspicious glance, she didn't mean to be wary of her friend but she was wondering why out of all the people that Rainbow Dash could ask she asks her to walk with her.

"I guess you can....although I'm wondering what this whole walk is all about." Twilight said, Rainbow Dash just smiled at the princess.

"You will see." Rainbow Dash asked, Twilight followed Rainbow Dash to the area that Rainbow Dash was taking her to, Twilight wondered where she was going, she knew that it was going to be some surprise by Rainbow Dash's response but couldn't figure out what exactly she was going to get, soon they reached Sugarcube Corner and Rainbow Dash pulled out a box and handed it to Twilight with a smirk.

"Surprise!" Rainbow Dash said as she held it out for her friend, Twilight was confused as to why Rainbow Dash had hid it in Sugarcube Corner and was confused by the fact she was getting a present.

"Rainbow thank you so much for this I can't wait to open it...one question....why would you hide this in Sugarcube Corner? What if Pinkie Pie had mistaken it for trash and throw it out?" Twilight asked.

"Your welcome! Pinkie Pie would not throw it out as she knew that it was your surprise gift I went through a lot of trouble to get this for you so I was going to ." Rainbow Dash stated, Twilight smiled warmly and hugged Rainbow Dash.

"I appreciate you doing this for me even if you didn't need to." Twilight said, she shook the box next to her ear but didn't hear to much, she held out the box to look at it again.

"Open it up and see." Rainbow Dash encouraged, Twilight giggled and unwrapped the box and then held her breath and opened it revealing it to be a new pair of soft ballet shoes, Twilight was touched by the generosity of Rainbow Dash, even if she wasnt Rarity Rainbow Dash could certainly live up to some aspects of holding Rarity's particular element she knew that they must have cost a lot to buy.

"Rainbow Dash you didn't have to go and buy these for me. Should I pay you back?" Twilight said but Rainbow Dash held up her hand to stop her.

"I wanted to buy them for you as I thought that you could use a back up pair for doing your performances or your class since your old ones seem to be worn out, it's a gift your not paying me for a gift, plus princess's shouldn't have to pay for gifts even if they are princess's." Rainbow Dash said.

"How did you know my foot size?" Twilight asked causing Rainbow Dash to chuckle with nervousness.

"Uh...I measured your feet in your sleep..." Rainbow Dash said with a blush, Twilight debated with herself on how she wanted to react, she felt like she either wanted to be creeped out but the thoughtfulness of the gift or cry with happiness.

"Thanks Rainbow Dash it's a wonderful gift, I've been needing new ones for a while...as weird as you were about getting these for me...thanks..." Twilight said.

"Your welcome I'm glad you like the present, please don't throw your crown at me in anger." Rainbow Dash said, Twilight looked up at her crown and shook her head.

"I'm not going to do that Rainbow I'll get over how you went about getting these. I'm so happy right, I couldn't afford new ones as I've been needy for cash and since I didn't want to borrow from the royal treasury of Equestria I couldn't get new ones." Twilight said.

"It's alright, it's to bad you can't repair the older shoes with magic." Rainbow Dash said, Twilight shook her head.

"It's fine don't worry about it, I'm going to put these away at my place." Twilight as she put the box down by her side and then hugged her friend in gratefulness, after she did that for a bit she said goodbye to her friend as she went back to her castle with her newly opened gift, she couldn't believe Rainbow Dash had done that as she usually never gave out presents but she then noticed that this had been a special one.

She got back home and threw her old ones out and put her new ones in the old ones place, she smiled as she was going to have to give something in return. Maybe a card would suffice?
