The Tales of Kioneby MaskChaptersOf Sweet Dreams and DeceptionUnwanted CompanyGhost of the PastOf Sweet Dreams and DeceptionOf Sweet Dreams and Deception “By the Goddess, I’m going to be late!” A stallion exclaimed, as he went from a trot to a gallop. Today was the day he performed for Madam Dandelion, one of his friends daughters. Strangely his friends family called him their 'Uncle'. Madam Dandelion is Canterlot’s most renowned gardener, and today she was hosting a party. A party would be no good without the worlds famous Kione Evertune! Sure, he looked creepy with his mask, but he assured everyone that it was for medical reasons… Very serious medical reasons. His coat was a clean white, with green markings on his legs, tail, and shoulders. If you asked him how white his coat was, Kione would say it was as white as Celestia’s, if not whiter. His mane and tail were somewhat tamed, but it had a look as if it was wet, looking weighted down and mopey. And though most would say it looked that way because of the color being pitch black, with bright neon green highlights, Kione digressed. He always wore his suit to any occasion, the last time anyone could remember him not wearing his suit was... well never. Nopony even knows who his parents are, nor where Kione came from. He just popped into town one day, bought some property, and played music all around Canterlot. Eventually getting noticed by Celestia, and got asked to play at the, once a in year, Grand Galloping Gala, thus becoming famous. His mask was a big mystery to ponies, instead of holes or slits to where ponies would expect to see his eyes, was instead a black screen that had glowing green orbs. These orbs reacted to his eye's movements. An example being, if he blinked his eyes, the green orbs would black out, as if blinking. On his forehead was another mark that seemed to travel off of his mask and down the back of his neck. What truly frightened ponies were the sharp teeth displayed on the mask. Ponies swear that they could see the teeth shift and move to help form words when Kione talked. Nopony could ever tell what his actual voice sounded like, not even Celestia can tell which voice is truly his own. Kione can mimic anypony, he could sing a chorus by himself. Anything that required multiple voices speaking at once, whether these voices are saying the same lines, or different lines, at the same time, he could do. Kione hardly ever worked with other musicians, he could play all the instruments for a band by himself. Which brings us to another point. Have ever heard of Pinkie Pie? Some ponies say that he’s related to her. Why? Because he’s an earth pony, but he has special magic, Kione can conjure physical instruments out of this air, and manipulate them to his will, almost like levitation, but only with his conjured items. These magical instruments were a black or white color, and they played as well as any other top of the line instrument. That’s his talent, a musician of a thousand styles. His cutie mark is a musical note, with a neon green mark, that looks like a crescent moon, right next to it. Anyways, enough about Kione, let us get back to the story. ~~*~~ Kione was nearing the large mansion that the party was being held in. He could see ponies walking inside with their good friends, or their special someponies. As he walked up to the door a guard stepped in front of him. “Identification please?” Kione just stared at the guard with what could be assumed as a deadpanned stare. Ponies stopped what they were doing to see what was going to happen. They stayed like this for 5 minutes... when suddenly Kione burst out laughing. Every other chuckle his voice would change pitch, sounding like a melody. “You had me going there for a second. I thought you really had no idea who I was. So, if you would please step aside and let me though, I have some music to play.” The guard, however, stood where he was, not moving, but instead giving Kione his own deadpanned stare. “Listen sir, I have no idea who you are, so you’re not getting in here with identification.” This comment got some gasps from the surrounding ponies. Somepony, who has never heard of Kione Evertune, is somepony who's missed out on brilliant music. “What? You never heard of me? You hear that everypony! This foal’s never heard of me!” This received a gasp from all the surrounding ponies, even other guards, though they tried to hide it with stotic expressions. “Listen here, I’m going to walk inside, and you’re going to stand here and have a chat with your fellow guard buddies on who I am. I’m quite saddened that you’ve never heard of me, I didn't teach at the 'Royal School for Talented Musicians' for nothing.” With that he walked away. When the guard tried to grab him, a white bow, for a stringed instrument, swatted his hoof away. As Kione walked into the party he could hear an explicit gasp from the guard pony as his friend told him exactly who he was. Kione gave an eerie chuckle, surprisingly nopony heard him. ~~*~~ “Ahem, Madam Dandelion, Kione Evertune is here to meet you. Would you like to for me to escort him in?” Asked a grey butler pony. “Oh, would you be a gentlecolt and do so please?” The butler pony gave a nod, before walking away. A few seconds later bringing in the mystery called Kione Evertune. “Ah, Madam Dandelion, what a pleasure it is to meet you again, you look lovely as usual.” Kione said with a bow. “Stop that, there is no need for my 'Uncle' to be bowing to me, I'm not royalty. You didn't even have to come here at all. And play for free, non the less!” She said, pouting slightly. “What type of 'Uncle' would I be if I let little Dandy pay me? That’s just not right.” He said, teasing her slightly. “Don’t call me that, especially not here! Now please, would you play a song? Everypony is just dying to hear you play!” She gave him the puppy dog eyes, his only weakness! “As you wish, Milady.” Kione gave a bow again, just for effect, before walking on stage. “Welcome Ladies and Gentlecolts! I present to you, Kione Evertune!” Said an announcer pony, wearing a tux and tinted glasses, before walking off stage. The stage went dark as the curtains pulled up, suddenly a haunting tune started to play. Two green orbs floated in the darkness as a mare’s voice started singing, and the lights slowly started to light up the stage. Come Little Children, I'll Take Thee Away Into A Land Of Enchantment All that could be seen at first was Kione plucking at a white violin, signing the lyrics in a hauntingly feminine voice. Come Little Children The Time's Come To Play Here In My Garden Of Shadows When the lights reached their max, which was pretty dim, they could see all the other instruments, black in color, being played by a green aura. As they looked back to Kione they could see that marks over his body glowing softly. Follow Sweet Children, I'll Show Thee The Way Through All The Pain And The Sorrows Everypony was enticed by the tune; none were able to look away. Weep Not Poor Children For Life Is This Way Murdering Beauty And Passions The guards walked in, they too were caught in the tune. Hush Now Dear Children, It Must Be This Way To Weary Of Life And Deceptions It didn’t take long for the whole building to be full, not a single soul here was able to walk away. Rest Now My Children For Soon We'll Away into The Calm And The Quiet Off in the back, the doors slowly closed and locked by a green aura. If any of the ponies were able to notice the effects that the song was putting on them, they would have noticed their eyes slowly getting heavier. Come Little Children I'll Take Thee Away Into A Land Of Enchantment Everypony simultaneously fell to the ground. The last thing they heard was the end of the verse.... Come Little Children The Time's Come To Play Here In My Garden Of Shadows ...before all faded to black. None, that night, heard the eerie chuckle that came from Kione. “Nighty night, my little ponies.” Unwanted CompanyUnwanted Luggage Kione looked out over all the sleeping ponies, glad that his enchanted music did its job once again. He stepped off the stage and started to search through all the ponies. ‘Where would a General sleep, I wonder… Over there!’ He pointed to his left, right at a pony wearing a very expensive set of armor. He reached into the General’s saddle bag, and pulled out a small, tightly wrapped, package. He quickly put it into his suits pocket before he sneaked away from the mansion. He could of sworn he saw a bipedal creature in one of the alleys, but not having time to waste he carried on. ~~*~~ He walked into a nearby forest, down one of the many trails, until he reached one of his many hideouts. A simple cave. He walked inside, coming face to face with his cloaked ‘contact’. “You will keep up your end of the deal when I hand over this package, correct?” He asked his large cloaked counterpart. “Yes, your secret is safe for the time being. Now, how about the package?” Kione set the package on the ground, and kicked it over to the figure, effectively letting it sliding into the cloaks shadows. “I think the meeting is adjourned, for now,” said the figure, before disappearing in a bright flash. Kione turned around and walked towards to the exit, only to immediately stop and conjure a glowing hoofheld harp as he saw a bipedal creature in front of him, blocking the exit. The creature had some sort of armor covering it’s body, it had a messy, red mane on top of it’s head, along with a jagged horn. It’s eyes were red, though the other eye looked dulled, as if the creature was blind in that eye. A pair of wings peeked over it’s shoulders, resting around it’s neck was a ragged, red scarf. A cloth rested around it’s legs and waist, like some sort of clothing… pants was it? It was about 1.8 meters tall. “Who are you and what are you doing here?” Kione asked, with a slight curiousness, as he observed the strange being in front of him. “My name is Red. Miss Dandelion sent me to look for you. You must be… Kione?” The being, now named Red, looked slightly confused about the situation he was in. “That is right, but I don’t believe Dandelion would trust someone who looks like you,” Kione said. ‘Play at him Kione, let us see how much we can juice from him.’ Red grinned, “Of course she wouldn’t trust me when I look like this! That’s why I make myself look like this!” He transformed into a red pony, probably to keep his name usable. Red seemed slightly disappointed when Kione wasn’t affected by the transformation. If anything, Kione was even for curious. “That is an interesting ability you’ve got there, but how did she tell you to go look for me?” ‘There is absolutely no way they could have awoken ahead of schedule, unless…’ “Well, after someone had put almost everyone to sleep, I’m assuming that was you, I woke them all up. She asked me to look for you, but now that we’re talking, why did you put everyone asleep. And just who was that cloaked figure?” Red seemed to be quite satisfied with his answer and question. Kione would have none of that. ‘Keep playing with him Kione, if anything, he could be a big help in our future plans.’ “Are you sure it was me? It could have been someone else.” ‘Side stepping his question, Kione? Oh, you are devious!’ “True, but I saw you sneak away from the mansion, and whoever you were talking to has something to do with it.” Red seemed like he was sure he would win this argument. Kione, however, was having a raging battle inside his mind. ‘How could you have let someone see us!’ ‘There was no time to cover our tracks!’ ‘All right, all right, try to lead him off of us; you know what to do if we can’t.’ “So you saw me walk away, who says I had put them all to sleep?” Kione really hoped he could lead him off. “I-I… Fine. You win. Now come with me, or I’ll force you,” said Red, he seemed mad. ‘It seems our red friend doesn’t like losing.’ “Good, but I want to have one thing set straight: I wasn’t here, and nothing happened. Okay?” Kione didn’t want to hurt anyone, but if someone kept asking… “Oh? Why? It’s not like you did anything wrong, right? Or was what you were doing against the laws?” ‘Damn it.’ “No, but…” ‘Kione, do it!’ “I…” ‘Don’t you dare ignore me, you know it must be done!’ “Ugh, I didn’t want to do this, but I have no choice.” Kione conjured a acoustic guitar behind Red, and whacked him in the head, effectively knocking Red out. ~~*~~ Kione dragged Red through the woods and into another cave. He set Red aside, and tied him up. Kione went out again to look for some food. He found a berry bush, and other greens that could make an effective meal. When he got back to the cave, he went to work at starting a fire, and wait for Red to wake up. When he awoke, Kione had just finished adding some wood to the fire. “I can’t believe he just knocked me out like that! I’ll get that bastard back for this.” Kione went up to him and poked his shoulder. “You know, I’m here too. I can’t just have you running around, telling everyone about what had happened, and what you had seen,” Kione replied annoyed that he had to have Red travel with him. Red rolled over with a grin on his face, “Oh? So you did do something against the laws.” He finally seemed content with himself, until he noticed something was missing from the whole equation. “Wait, you mean that you’re leaving, and taking me with you?” “That’s right, now if you’ll excuse me, I’m having dinner.” Kione went back to the campfire, and started eating his homemade salad. Kione heard a low rumble off to his right, as he looked over to the source of the noise he saw Red drooling. ‘That’s just disgusting.’ ‘True, but we don’t know when the last time he ate was.’ “Hey, can I have some?” With a sigh Kione got up and gave half of his meal to Red. “Fine, but next time, make your own.” He walked back to the fire, leaving Red to his own devices. “Thanks!” Kione heard the familiar fizzle sound as Red transformed to his bipedal form, he easily slipped out of the ropes, and walked over to the fire. Kione glared at him through his mask, which promptly stopped him. … … … “Where are we anyways?” Red asked, Kione turned to face him after finishing his meal. “That’s for me to know, and for you to never find out. Now for my question, what are you?” Kione was once again intrigued. "Apparently I'm the result of MPD. I'm another person inside the body of changeling king Black. I don't know why he looks like, so don’t ask. And my memory goes back only four days. Strangely enough I seem to remember things about animal, creatures and some things about Equestria." Red took a deep breath. "And what are you? I know what a pony smells like, and you smell way different." “I’ll let you figure that out for yourself. Get up, we’re leaving.” Kione stood up and put out the fire, before walking outside. “Okay, where are we going?” Red got up and followed him. “Manehattan, and maybe you should do something about your looks.” “Oh, right!” Red transformed back into his red pony and walked along side Kione. … … … “I’m bored.” Kione sighed, “This is going to be a long walk.” ‘Oh, why did I agree with you on tacking him with me?’ 'I thought he could help…’ ‘I hate you.” AN- Thanks to everyone for likes and favorites! If you want to read from Red's POV go here. Ghost of the PastGhost of the past “Are we there yet?” “No.” “Are we there yet?” “No.” “Are we there yet?” “No. “Are we there yet?” ‘Make him stop! Please Kione, just make him stop!’ “Oh, for goodness sake! Stop it! We’re there when we get there!” The conversation had been going on for the past ten minutes, and Kione was just about to snap. “Okay.” ‘Thank you world! I will never doubt you again!’ “Thank Celestia.” Kione sighed. “Who?” Red asked, clearly clueless about who Kione had just referred to. ‘Why did I tell you to take this idiot! Why!’ “You don’t know who Celestia is?” Kione replied, with a deadpanned look, completely ignoring the voice in his head. “Nope. Is she famous or something?” ‘By the goddess, someone save me from this torment.’ ‘How about you deal with it like everyone else, you spoiled bug.’ ‘How dare you! Do you not remember who I am? I was once the most powerful-‘ ‘And now no one cares, so shush.’ “Famous? She’s one of the rulers of Equestria. She raises the sun every day. You were in Canterlot! How could you not have known?” Kione was seriously wondering how he… could have… ‘Is us giving me a deadpanned stare?’ “Oh yes, your memory.” “Yup! But I’m still bored.” ‘Oh no! Not again! Please Kione! Save me!’ As if fate was with them for the second time that day, they arrived at their destination, Manehattan. “Well, we’ve arrived at Manhattan. So, why don’t you go and take a look around while I finish my business here. Meet me here, at eight P.M.” Kione left Red to his own devices. ‘He better not do something stupid.’ ‘For once, I agree with you.’ ~~*~~ Kione walked up to an inconspicuous building. He looked around to see if anyone was around, before heslipped a key into the doors lock, and twisted. *Click* The door opened up with a long eerie creek, revealing a dark interior. As Kione walked within, he closed the door behind him, the only light came from his green eyes. “Ah, brother! How is the world outside doing?” Asked a voice within the darkness, as the darkness started to wrap itself around him. “The outside world is doing great, brother. Perhaps you should go and get some sun, would do you great.” Replied Kione, as he walked further into the shadows, looking for something in peticular. “Ah, but you know well that I can’t leave this place. Being that this is the only place that I can contact with you. We do hope that you stay safe, mother and father are worried.” The darkness seemed to fade a bit as Kione walked further in. In the center of the room was a colt, see through, yet still visible. The little colt had a slight glow to him as he played with toys that sat in the center of the room. Kione gave a soft sigh, before sitting next to the colt. “You should really try to make some friends in heaven, Clink. You know mother worries when you sit here all day, by yourself.” Said Kione as he rubbed the Clink’s ghostly mane. The little colt gave a giggle, before standing on his hind legs and giving Kione a hug. “Okay Kione! Stay safe!” The little colt faded away. Kione got up from his sitting position, before he made his way to a nearby desk. Upon it was an opened letter. The letter read: Dear Mother and Father, I know I haven’t sent a letter in a long time, but I met some people that are like me, people who have been trapped in a life that we should not live. We decided that helping each other would be the best thing we could do, so we decided to travel with each other a bit. I hope you can all forgive me for everything that has happened, but you and I both know that me leaving was for the best. Make sure to give the 25 bits that came with the letter to Clink, and tell him I said “Happy 5th Birthday!” Your son, Kione Evertune ‘Looking back at what happened to them will only make you sadder.’ ‘I know, but I still feel like that if I hadn’t left, they would still be here.’ ‘While that might be true, you would have never helped your two friends.’ ‘I guess, let’s just go. I’m sure Red is doing something stupid.’ Kione walked out of the house, locking the door behind him. He saw all the citizens running away from the center of town, screaming in fear for their lives. ‘I wonder what that’s all about.’ ‘As do I.’ Kione ran through the horde of ponies, trying to get to the source of the panic. As Kione was nearing the center, he could hear the sounds of splattering, and some sort of pleas. “Halt in the name of Celestia!” Boomed a voice. As Kione rounded the corner he could see Red fighting all the guards, killing one every so often. His eyes were black, and he gave a hiss every so often. It wasn’t long before a unicorn came up from behind him, and shot a paralyses spell at him. “What is that idiot doing now…” Kione sighed, as Red fell to the ground. As he looked away from Red’s body, he saw everyone else glaring at him. “What?” Kione looked around in confusion, he really had no idea as to what everyone was staring at him for. “You were with that monster! We saw you enter that city while it was still disguised!” A griffin said, his legs were shaking, and it looked like he was about to pass out. “What? But I-“ He was cut off when a paralysis spell hit him in the back of his head, courtesy of the very same unicorn that hit Red. Kione was out like a light. ~~*~~ Kione woke up within a cage, guarded by two, identical looking, Royal Guards. “I’m guessing you two gentlemen wouldn’t tell me what my red friend over there did?” Kione asked the guards, hoping one of them would answer. “Your friend killed thirty civilians and destroyed ten buildings.” Replied the guard to the left, his counterpart gave him a rough shove as a way of saying; ‘Shut up.’ The guard simply shrugged, before standing in his position again. It wasn’t long before he heard a groan in the cage next to him. “Hey! Where the hell am I, and why do I taste blood?” Red got no response, as everyone ignored him. “Hey! I’m talking to you!” He was starting to get annoyed, and if it kept up, Kione would be paying for it with him. “Shut up. Do you want us to get into any more trouble?” Kione said to him, as Red looked over to Kione. “What do you mean? First I’m in a bar, beating a Diamond Dogs ass, and now I’m in some kind of dungeon, just what happened?” Red was getting very mad, you could almost see the steam coming from his ears. “You happened. You destroyed ten houses, and killed thirty citizens. Don’t tell me you don’t remember that.” Kione replied with a monotone voice. “Okay? Then I won’t say that I don’t remember… wait, I actually did that?” Red raised an eyebrow, showing his confusion. “So you don’t remember anything?” ‘You friend has the IQ of a peanut…’ “Nope, where are we anyways?” Kione was about to respond, but was cut off guard when a feminine voice replied for him. “In the Conterlot dungeons.” Looking over to the source of the voice, was none other than Princess Celestia, as she walked towards Red’s cage. “Oh Okay…. Who are you?” ‘Yep, like a peanut.’ Princess Celestia raised an eyebrow in confusion, “I am Princess Celestia. I’m quite surprised you have never heard of me.” “Well, Kione actually told me about you, but my memory is only a few days long.” Red smiled sheepishly, finally understanding who he was in the presence of. “No matter, what I would like to know is who you are, and the exact reason why you killed so many citizens of Manehattan.” Celestia said with a strict voice, one that would make any creature shiver and obey. “I’m Red, and like I said to Kione, I don’t remember doing any of that.” Suddenly Red was surrounded by a bright golden aura. To any outside observers, it would simply look like Celestia was levitating him. Kione, however, knew better than that. She was searching his mind, seeing if he was telling the truth. “Hmm, you’re not lying. But it seems another mind remembers these past actions. I wonder… what are you?” “Twilight told me that I was the result of MPD. That explains why my memory isn’t long. I actually wonder how many minds are within my head.” As he explained this, Celestia gave Kione a side longed look. He, too, was a victim of MPD, despite the major differences, they were quite similar. “Four, and are you talking about Twilight Sparkle by any chance?” “Yep, can I go now?” “I will take you somewhere else, for now, we need to… research you. “And what about me?” Kione asked, sounding hopeful. “Guards, release him, and escort him to the throne room. I have some questions for him.”
