Ghost of the past

“Are we there yet?”

“No.”

“Are we there yet?”

“No.”

“Are we there yet?”

“No.

“Are we there yet?”

‘Make him stop! Please Kione, just make him stop!’

“Oh, for goodness sake! Stop it! We’re there when we get there!” The conversation had been going on for the past ten minutes, and Kione was just about to snap.

“Okay.”

‘Thank you world! I will never doubt you again!’

“Thank Celestia.” Kione sighed.

“Who?” Red asked, clearly clueless about who Kione had just referred to.

‘Why did I tell you to take this idiot! Why!’

“You don’t know who Celestia is?” Kione replied, with a deadpanned look, completely ignoring the voice in his head.

“Nope. Is she famous or something?”

‘By the goddess, someone save me from this torment.’

‘How about you deal with it like everyone else, you spoiled bug.’

‘How dare you! Do you not remember who I am? I was once the most powerful-‘

‘And now no one cares, so shush.’

“Famous? She’s one of the rulers of Equestria. She raises the sun every day. You were in Canterlot! How could you not have known?” Kione was seriously wondering how he… could have…

‘Is us giving me a deadpanned stare?’

“Oh yes, your memory.”

“Yup! But I’m still bored.”

‘Oh no! Not again! Please Kione! Save me!’

As if fate was with them for the second time that day, they arrived at their destination, Manehattan.

“Well, we’ve arrived at Manhattan. So, why don’t you go and take a look around while I finish my business here. Meet me here, at eight P.M.” Kione left Red to his own devices.

‘He better not do something stupid.’

‘For once, I agree with you.’

Kione walked up to an inconspicuous building. He looked around to see if anyone was around, before heslipped a key into the doors lock, and twisted. *Click* The door opened up with a long eerie creek, revealing a dark interior.

As Kione walked within, he closed the door behind him, the only light came from his green eyes.

“Ah, brother! How is the world outside doing?” Asked a voice within the darkness, as the darkness started to wrap itself around him.

“The outside world is doing great, brother. Perhaps you should go and get some sun, would do you great.” Replied Kione, as he walked further into the shadows, looking for something in peticular.

“Ah, but you know well that I can’t leave this place. Being that this is the only place that I can contact with you. We do hope that you stay safe, mother and father are worried.” The darkness seemed to fade a bit as Kione walked further in.

In the center of the room was a colt, see through, yet still visible. The little colt had a slight glow to him as he played with toys that sat in the center of the room. Kione gave a soft sigh, before sitting next to the colt.

“You should really try to make some friends in heaven, Clink. You know mother worries when you sit here all day, by yourself.” Said Kione as he rubbed the Clink’s ghostly mane. The little colt gave a giggle, before standing on his hind legs and giving Kione a hug.

“Okay Kione! Stay safe!” The little colt faded away. Kione got up from his sitting position, before he made his way to a nearby desk. Upon it was an opened letter. The letter read:

Dear Mother and Father,

I know I haven’t sent a letter in a long time, but I met some people that are like me, people who have been trapped in a life that we should not live. We decided that helping each other would be the best thing we could do, so we decided to travel with each other a bit.

I hope you can all forgive me for everything that has happened, but you and I both know that me leaving was for the best. Make sure to give the 25 bits that came with the letter to Clink, and tell him I said “Happy 5th Birthday!”

                                Your son,

                                      Kione Evertune

‘Looking back at what happened to them will only make you sadder.’

‘I know, but I still feel like that if I hadn’t left, they would still be here.’

‘While that might be true, you would have never helped your two friends.’

‘I guess, let’s just go. I’m sure Red is doing something stupid.’

Kione walked out of the house, locking the door behind him. He saw all the citizens running away from the center of town, screaming in fear for their lives.

‘I wonder what that’s all about.’

‘As do I.’

Kione ran through the horde of ponies, trying to get to the source of the panic. As Kione was nearing the center, he could hear the sounds of splattering, and some sort of pleas.

“Halt in the name of Celestia!” Boomed a voice. As Kione rounded the corner he could see Red fighting all the guards, killing one every so often. His eyes were black, and he gave a hiss every so often. It wasn’t long before a unicorn came up from behind him, and shot a paralyses spell at him.

“What is that idiot doing now…” Kione sighed, as Red fell to the ground. As he looked away from Red’s body, he saw everyone else glaring at him.

“What?” Kione looked around in confusion, he really had no idea as to what everyone was staring at him for.

“You were with that monster! We saw you enter that city while it was still disguised!” A griffin said, his legs were shaking, and it looked like he was about to pass out.

“What? But I-“ He was cut off when a paralysis spell hit him in the back of his head, courtesy of the very same unicorn that hit Red. Kione was out like a light.

Kione woke up within a cage, guarded by two, identical looking, Royal Guards.

“I’m guessing you two gentlemen wouldn’t tell me what my red friend over there did?” Kione asked the guards, hoping one of them would answer.

“Your friend killed thirty civilians and destroyed ten buildings.” Replied the guard to the left, his counterpart gave him a rough shove as a way of saying; ‘Shut up.’ The guard simply shrugged, before standing in his position again.  It wasn’t long before he heard a groan in the cage next to him.

“Hey! Where the hell am I, and why do I taste blood?” Red got no response, as everyone ignored him.

“Hey! I’m talking to you!” He was starting to get annoyed, and if it kept up, Kione would be paying for it with him.

“Shut up. Do you want us to get into any more trouble?” Kione said to him, as Red looked over to Kione.

“What do you mean? First I’m in a bar, beating a Diamond Dogs ass, and now I’m in some kind of dungeon, just what happened?” Red was getting very mad, you could almost see the steam coming from his ears.

“You happened. You destroyed ten houses, and killed thirty citizens. Don’t tell me you don’t remember that.” Kione replied with a monotone voice.

“Okay? Then I won’t say that I don’t remember… wait, I actually did that?” Red raised an eyebrow, showing his confusion.

“So you don’t remember anything?”

‘You friend has the IQ of a peanut…’

“Nope, where are we anyways?” Kione was about to respond, but was cut off guard when a feminine voice replied for him.

“In the Conterlot dungeons.” Looking over to the source of the voice, was none other than Princess Celestia, as she walked towards Red’s cage.

“Oh Okay…. Who are you?”

‘Yep, like a peanut.’

Princess Celestia raised an eyebrow in confusion, “I am Princess Celestia. I’m quite surprised you have never heard of me.”

“Well, Kione actually told me about you, but my memory is only a few days long.” Red smiled sheepishly, finally understanding who he was in the presence of.

“No matter, what I would like to know is who you are, and the exact reason why you killed so many citizens of Manehattan.” Celestia said with a strict voice, one that would make any creature shiver and obey.

“I’m Red, and like I said to Kione, I don’t remember doing any of that.” Suddenly Red was surrounded by a bright golden aura. To any outside observers, it would simply look like Celestia was levitating him. Kione, however, knew better than that. She was searching his mind, seeing if he was telling the truth.

“Hmm, you’re not lying. But it seems another mind remembers these past actions. I wonder… what are you?”

“Twilight told me that I was the result of MPD. That explains why my memory isn’t long. I actually wonder how many minds are within my head.”  As he explained this, Celestia gave Kione a side longed look. He, too, was a victim of MPD, despite the major differences, they were quite similar.

“Four, and are you talking about Twilight Sparkle by any chance?”

“Yep, can I go now?”

“I will take you somewhere else, for now, we need to… research you.

“And what about me?” Kione asked, sounding hopeful.

“Guards, release him, and escort him to the throne room. I have some questions for him.”
