//-------------------------------------------------------// The End of Diamond Dog Nobility (EaW) -by SaharaTheWolfe- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// The End of Diamond Dog Nobility //-------------------------------------------------------// The End of Diamond Dog Nobility “This was a horrible mistake, we turned ourselves to stop the fighting, yet now we're being treated like monsters. I tried to stop father from killing them, why don't they see that I'm trying to help them?” I had been saying this many times for the past few hours. I was curled up on father, Rover diamondshield's lap, he was petting my head slowly, he hasn't said a word since we were thrown into this cell. Was he angry at me for trying to help these people? “F-father?” I said shakily “are we gonna be executed?” After a long sigh father finally said something. “I don't know, but, if we are to be executed… I just want you to know how sorry I am. I didn't mean for you to get hurt in this, but fate seems to have other plans.” When I heard these words I uncurled myself and hugged him tightly, I started crying into his chest, like I had done so much recently. “This dog that's leading the rebels, his name is Clifford the Red, I don't know that much about him, but he seems to genuinely care about the slaves. I've seen him carry the wounded away from battle, yet he thinks we're both threats to the slaves freedom. Despite this I don't think he has as much power as we think, after one of our first skirmishes with him and some revolutionaries we found documents that were orders on what to do and how to incite people. I believe despite appearances he isn't the only leader of the Workers United Front, but the documents were from equestria, so it's possible he doesn't have as much control as he says he does .” Rover said fiercely. I looked up at him with a few full look in my eyes. “I don't want to die father.” I said sadly. “I don't either, but if we are to die, remember that we will be together in the afterlife with your mother.” Rover said mournfully. I looked up at him surprised, this was the first time he brought her up in years. Knowing that we were to die, I asked him one last thing about her. “Tell me, what happened to her Father?” Rover embraced me tightly and whispered into my ear “She died giving birth to you Molly, the last thing she ever said to me was how beautiful you were.” I cried harder, I knew what had happened, but hearing it from him just made me cry as if I heard it for the first time. Before I knew it the cell opened and a team of revolutionaries ordered us out. Rover stood up with us still hugging and let me down. “It's time to go Molly.” he said softly as he put me down on the floor. “Okay Father.” I wiped the tears off of my face as I said this. We walked outside to the courtyard of the castle, the once glorious monument to the craftsmanship of diamond dogs was now a ruin. The once glorious statues of our previous kings were torn down, the paintings were burned, the windows destroyed, and the our closest servants and bodyguards were along the walls, all of them shot in the chest. It seemed as if these weren't done deliberately or on Clifford's orders, his soldiers might've been looking for retribution against us. Near a wall there was a congregation of dogs waiting for us, some barked insults, others snarled that we deserved what was coming to us, but there were those that protested my execution, their voices soft, but they were starting to get louder. On the wall there were two wooden posts, and in the center I saw the dog that started this, Clifford the Red. His face was completely blank, I couldn't tell if he hated me, or if he regretted what was gonna happen. We were tied up to the posts to face the crowd, Clifford walked and gave the crowd a wave and they stopped all shouting, even the ones that opposed my execution weren't talking. “We are gathered here today to finish off what we started oh so long ago, after this we will no longer be shackled by our classes and we will be free to live happily! I remember years ago when I lost my mother to these tyrants, seeing her be worked to death ignited the flames of the revolution in me, and seeing you all triumph over them has made me proud. Now, despite how I am your general and leader, the other leaders have the workers United Front ha e ordered Rover and Molly Ironshield are to be executed, Rover for his tyrannical rule over us that has led to the suffering of countless dogs, and his daughter Molly for wanting to let the tyrants that enslaved us go unpunished and let them keep their wealth.” Clifford said, but there also something off about it, I could almost hear his voice tremble, as if he didn't want this to happen. “We, as the Workers United Front will rebuild our society as soon as we remove this filth from our new home.” When he turned back around to face us he reached into his pockets and in one hand he had blindfolds, in the other he had targets to put on us. “Would you like to be blindfolded, it helps my men not hesitate to shoot you.” He said this coldly, there wasn't a single bit of venom or regret in his voice, yet I knew he didn't want this to happen. “I-I would.” I said softly. “Very well.” He put quickly put the blindfold over my eyes and put the target over my heart. Even though I couldn't see it, I heard him move over to Rover. “I don't need it, I'd prefer my killer to look me in the eye.” Rover said coldly. “Very well.” Clifford put the target on dad and went over to the crowd, I heard marching as soldiers lined up in front of us. As the soldiers made final preparations on their weapons I started wondering, did Clifford want to spare me? He didn't seem like the type of dog to want to kill someone who is innocent, his mother suffered horribly, so why'd he want another person who didn't do anything wrong to suffer for it, but as I thought this Rover said one last thing to me. “Molly, I love you, and I'm sorry. I'm sorry for everything, I'm sorry for not listening to you, I'm sorry for lashing out and almost hurting you many times, and I'm sorry for being a terrible father.” I heard Rover say. “I love you too Father.” I said back to him. “Ready, aim, fire!” I heard Clifford yell, soon the sound of thunder boomed in my ears as the soldiers shot Rover. As they were readying up to shoot me I started to hear dogs yelling, they were protesting my execution, they were barking that I did my best to help, how I held back dad, and for how I was too young to be executed. They kept getting louder and louder, soon I couldn't hear Clifford tell his men their orders, all I could hear was shouting. Then, before I could think anymore, I heard Clifford yell fire so loudly it overshadowed the crowd, and I felt excruciating pain as I heard the sound of thunder boom in my ears one last time before there was nothing.
