Life Can be Cruel, but Mom's my hero

Previous Chapter

The night that Rosette, my mother died, It'll never leave me. I was ten years old at the time, and we had moved to Fillydelphia for me to continue my education there. I loved Fillydelphia, we lived in a nice sized house. But that fateful night, everything in my life changed and was flipped upside down. A dragon had been on the loose, and rampaging and ravaging the town, it had set fire to the home that Rosette and I lived in. She was quick to smell smoke from the burning building, she barreled her way into my room, grabbed me and Peanut and carried me out of the window.

"Mom..my?" I was soon awakened as she tossed me into a nearby bush, to cushion the landing.

"Flowershy, my dear rose petal..." My mother said, coughing and hacking, soot was all over her body, her wings and coat singed from the heat. I was soon wide awake as I saw my mother, feathers burnt off. collapsing onto the ground from smoke inhalation. "I want you to be a good girl, okay? and never forget how much I love you and that I will always love you."

"No mommy..." I cried out, tears forming in my eyes "Don't leave me, mommy." But it was too late, my mother died, from smoke inhalation, and just like that, I was an orphan. My mother truly loved me by sacrificing her life to save mine. I realized that as I sobbed uncontrollably for days on end.

As per my mother's request, her body was cremated and given to me. I put her urn in a special saddlebag and carried it with me where ever I went. The funeral had a few of her close friends, and Gleaming Diamond but she knew that the type of work she did, she couldn't take care of me, so I was put in an orphanage. At the orphanage, the director was a kind sympathetic mare, who understood completely what I was going through. But during meal times, I would starve myself at first, I just couldn't bear being alone without my mother, she meant everything to me. The other orphans living there tried to make friends with me, but it was no good. I would go to school each day, and try my best to do my work, but with ponies bullying me because I was an orphan, I felt like killing myself. I was even more depressed when my eleventh birthday came. While the director was nice enough to give me a small present, it just wasn't the same. Hearth's Warmings and birthdays weren't the same without Rosette. I contemplated on it for a long time and then came up with a plan: I was going to, one day, after school, go to the cliffs to end my life.

"What's the point on living..." I told myself one night in the bed I had. "Mommy's gone, I never knew my daddy, my auntie's always busy with her dangerous job..." Taking a rope and putting it in the same saddle bag as I had Peanut, I carefully tied Peanut to my body and bound my wings to my back. I just didn't want to live anymore. So, I went to the cliffs and jumped off, hoping to hit the ground. "Goodbye cruel, cruel, world. you've taken away my happiness."

I ended up surviving the ordeal, and was hospitalized due to the amount of self inflicted damage I did to myself. I ended up staying at the orphanage for the rest of my formative years, no pony seemed to have wanted to adopt me. I couldn't understand why that was though.

"I just hope that my future will be better, but for now it looks bleak." I told myself as I went to sleep.
