The Compliments of Two Evils
The moist smell of dripping liquids. The grinding sharpness of the chains around her hooves and wings. The blanked clouds of drowsiness swelling in the corner of her eyes while consciousness lazily returned to them. She could feel hard solid ground behind her back, her head hanging low as she hung from the wall.
Ahhhhh! What happened?
Knowledge of the last few hours linger in the depths of Luna's memories as she brings herself to recall them with effort:
Reports of citizens disappearing along Equestria's borders have been present for weeks.
Rumours of ponies and how they always returned, but their behaviour was noted to be slightly different by their friends and family. The disappeared never spoke about where they had gone or why, at least not in consistent sense - reports had varied from stories ranging from reading about a lost civilisation that they wanted to rediscover, to attempting to find their lost pet that had wondered beyond Equestria.
Nevertheless, it was a reoccurring mystery that was beginning to plague ponies everywhere. With growing unrest rising with each passing week, even the Alicorn goddess were unable to standby as a crisis developed:
"I will remain in Equestria and attempt to coax the information from the ponies who returned. Luna, I need you to go to the broader regions and find any hints to why our citizens are leaving Equastria."
"Why must you send me, sister? Princess Twilight and her friends should be more than capable of doing this themselves."
"Normally they would be, however too many pony citizens have disappeared; the exact numbers of how many we are not sure of. In order to quickly determine how many ponies we are dealing with, each Element Bearer has traveled to six of Equastria's major cities and will conduct a survey of the number of ponies who have disappeared within their respected cities: Rarity will be in Manehatten. Rainbow Dash in Los Pegasus. Applejack will do the same in Baltimare. Along with Fluttershy in Fillydelphia. Pinkie Pie in Rockville. And Twilight in Ponyville. Furthermore, I will do so in Canterlot. I have sent our royal guards to do similar surveys in any pony settlements I have not mentioned. Princess Cadence and Prince Shining Armour are doing the same process within the Crystal Empire."
"Is this exodus that wide spread?"
"I am afraid so, sister. Our ponies, it would appear, our leaving there homes and vanishing for days at a time without consistent explanation before suddenly returning. The fact that most of these incidences occur along the border seem to imply that something beyond Equastria is causing them to leave."
"Very well Tia, I will depart immediately."
Even in her drowsiness, Luna recalls her sisters' instructions on the day she left for the frontier including the events that transpired upon her arrival:
The journey to the border was quite fast but that hadn't stoped Luna's mind from wandering into a state of deep thought for what felt like many hours in hopes of developing possible solutions to the mystery along the way to her destination.
It was late afternoon when she had finally arrived to the sight her sister had determined; a trade route road of desert dirt and dust, leading into barren mountains circled by rocky hills beyond the horizon as far as the eye could see.
All along the road were imprints of hoof marks, no doubt that belonged to the ponies who had left Equestria. Hoofs of varies sizes, from young fillies and colts to grown mares and stallions; all leading towards the unknown lands beyond the home of ponies. And yet arranged side by side were the exact same hoof marks that led back into Equestria, proof that those who disappeared had returned.
Luna looked at the trails for several minutes in silent contempt as she raised an eyebrow. The realisation that the extent of the mysterious exodus along the border was far larger than she had thought left her lost for words as she processed the sight before her; barely any area of the road was not covered by hoof marks, some more recent ones even blanketed the marking of older ones.
"Our ponies, it would appear, our leaving there homes and vanishing for days at a time before suddenly returning."
"Why though?" Spoke Luna, to the memory of her sister's words, as her eyes narrowed inquisitively at the tracks.
Following the imprints at a steady pace, Luna pins her eyes on the road as she walked, her focused gaze not leaving the markings imprint as her head swayed from side to side, scanning the tracks as she went with her horn that now hummed with a bluish hue as magic flowed through it, her forensic spell going to work:
"So far this seems to be the only sight where our subjects disappear, sister. But could this exodus grow even further in scale? At least with your efforts, Cadence's, Armour's and the Element Bearers' we will know how many have experienced this. I just hope that with my efforts, we will figure out why and if -- wait what is that?"
In the lingering corner of her eyes that gazed at nearby hoof prints, Luna stops her body and turns her head around to closer face the anomaly. Taking several steps to the side of the road, Luna's eyes grow wide as she approaches the enigmatic impression in the ground:
"What is this!?"
Peeling down closer to the ground and holding her horn lower still, Luna's eyes narrow in shock at the sight that was presented to her; hoof prints, no different from the countless other ones that led back into Equestria, originated from imprints of a different shape - as if some other creature had made them.
This creatures' imprints was more jagged and rough in comparison despite being of the same size as a pony's. Surprisingly the creature who had made it had too walked out of the barren wastes towards Equestria, but the most shocking feature was the fact that the creatures imprints changed into a pony's almost as if the creature who had made them had themselves become a pony.
"CEASE HER!"
Luna's head snaps upwards in surprise, her body tense just as magical tendrils lash themselves around her wings and legs, pinning her in place.
The desert explodes around her as black, pony-like figures burst out of the sands each casting a tendril that held the Princess of the Night.
Twisting her head around to face the feminine voice that had given the command to attack, Luna's vision was immediately filled with the blinding light of a green magical blast so bright that it dwarfed her sister's sun.
The last thing she remembers before the darkness consumed her consciousness was the sound of her body falling hard upon the ground and the same feminine voice speaking:
"Good night, Dream Princess."
Now that the fractured memories of the past were beginning to repair themselves within her mind, Luna's concentration improves with each passing moment. Her investigative thoughts soon attempting to connect the dots with all the information that was presented to her, including that which she found her circumstances to be in:
While searching the border, the tracks of the creatures who were there had changed into ponies'.
Change.
So the creature that had made them must have changed.
Change.
The behaviour of the disappeared ponies who returned, changed from their old selves.
Change.
And the green coloured magic that had subdued her.....what creature used that kind of magic? Who used that kind of magic?
Change. Change. Change......
Changelings!
Luna's mind snaps awake and focus fully returns to it, the analytic gazes of her eyes scanning her surrounds as she catches sight of the walls, floor and celling; the architecture matching that of a Changeling's hive. She attempts to move only to have her chains restrain the action against her. Luna meets her bindings with sharply narrowed eyes.
How dare they hold me like this!
Raising the glowing emanating tip of her horn towards the chains, magical energies rocket through her horn before a sudden flash is expelled from it - the chains still in position.
"Impossible!" Luna positions her horn once more and try's again to no avail. Several more attempts followed to which each yielding the same result - Luna continued to remained bound to her restraints.
With wide-eyes that spun around the room she was trapped in, Luna's mind raced. Several moments were spent focusing her sight on the architecture and its familiar resemblance to a design she recalls:
This room is Changeling in nature. But if my magic CAN NOT work here than that must mean I'm within the Changeling Kingdom!

Her gaze snaps towards the far end of the room to a sigh of a door that had slammed open. Standing at the entrance was an elegant figure of midnight-black skin and semi-transparent green hair. Her fanged teeth were curved into a devilish smile and her dark emerald eyes glowed with mischief as they hanged under lowered eyelids. Moving forward with gracious footsteps that made her appear to almost float over the ground, the mysterious creature retained a seductive look as magic glowed from her horn that slowly closed the door behind her:
"The one Celestia herself feared; The one who brought the eternal night upon the land; The Mare in the moon; Nightmare Moon."
Stopping face to face with Luna and placing two front hooves on either side of the Alicorns' waist, Chrysalis leans in close and whispers, "I feel almost over the moon myself just saying it." Before returning to her normal posture, taking a step back to observe the captive Luna, wondering what reaction her words would create in her captive.
It didn't take long; Staring at Chrysalis with frowned eyes and gritted teeth, a look of disgusted resentment, as her words echo with the coldness of the night itself, "Don't humour me Chrysalis. That version of me no longer exists."
Chrysalis's smile widens as she flicks her hair back and sighs. Placing a hoof on Luna's cheek, she proceeds to softly stroke the skin before whispering in the same seductive tone as before, "Oh how ashamed that is. I could have used her so efficiently."
Jerking her head backwards Luna shoots the Changeling a piercing glare that embodied bitter agitation; Chrysalis withdraws her hove and smiles further. Bitting her lip in accordance to the rising and falling of her chest that synced alongside the passing of each breath of anger - anger that was carried over to her voice as Luna spoke, "You are too inferior for your own devices?"
"My devices are not at all quite what they seem, Princesssssss." Hisses Chrysalis, the slithering of her tongue lasting slightly longer than needed.
"Indeed. Why else do you masquerade behind the identity of others?"
"Because I make others look sooooo good."
At the completion of her words, the Changeling queen flutters her eyelashes - sighs - and gives a wink to Luna; a flash of green magical light is expelled from her horn that engulfs Chrysalis's body. And in a instant the Changeling queen is transformed; the holes of her skin no longer existing, while even a darker shade of black becomes the colour of her body. Her hair becomes a vibrant dark blue with white sparkles like the stars of the night sky and her eyes, their irises now narrowed vertical slits, shined with the brightness of the full moon but with a shade of cyan -- Nightmare Moon; A perfect replica of the fallen Alicorn, right down to the tone of her voice:
"See how better the original is now if she had just stayed like this?" Mused 'Nightmare Moon', her hanging eyelids magnifying the sparkle in her eyes that shone towards Luna. "A nightmare - but to me a dream come true."
Groaning in sexual delight, 'Nightmare Moon's' devilish smile widens at the though, as she wraps her tongue around one of her pointed fanged tooth. Almost licking her lips.
Luna lowers her head and spits at the floor, the drops landing a few inches away from 'Nightmare Moon's' hooves in a display of disgust.

"You will receive no satisfaction from me Chrysalis."

Without hesitation Chrysalis grabs Luna's lower jaw and prides it open. Almost immediately however, her eyes grow wide and stomach tightens, withdrawing in gasps of coughs, Chrysalis clenches her throat in surprise, "You. Taste. So. Dry - where is your love?"
"I'm a soulless creature of the night. Love does not exist for me." Replies Luna, a smile creeping onto the corner of her mouth.
"Eww - how does you sister stand you?"
"Perhaps because she isn't trying to siphon emotions from me to survive!" Narrowed eyes meet Chrysalis's as Luna grits her teeth once more, at the mention of her sister.
"Survive?" Chrysalis chuckles at the words and flicks back her hair, another smile forming on her face as her eye lashes lower, "Oh please, who said that I need you to survive - this is not business but pleasure. Why do you think I captured the Princess of the Night herself when I could have chosen any pony in Equastria to be in the position you are in."
Caught off guard by Chrysalis's reply, Luna stares blankly at her captive without uttering a word or displaying any further emotion; a subtly hint of curiosity making her pay attention to the Changeling as she continued to explain herself. Seeing Luna's slight change in attitude as she prepared to speak further, Chrysalis begins to analyse Luna's emotions using her Changeling abilities in hopes of detecting an inkling of desirable feelings from the Alicorn. "No, Luna. I chose you because I knew their once existed a version of yourself who, like myself, was unable to grasp the concept of love from others; especially when they who attempted to give it were so very different from us."

White skin and crimson eyes, that radiated like the sun, to match the symbol of the sun itself on the flanks of what was now 'Celestia'
At the very sight of her sister, Chrysalis detects a wave of resentment wash over her from Luna. The shocked pony princess staring wide-eyed at the image of Celestia presented before her, Luna's mouth left open mid-sentence - before slowly turning into a snare coupled with narrowing eyes.
"You were saying?" Hissed 'Celestia' gleefully, feeding off the anger Luna was physiologically producing at her sisters' image. "I rest my case."

The silence dragged on, stretching with time that seemed like an eternity. Not one sound was uttered while Luna's mind continuing to delve into her inner true feelings:

Luna, almost forgetting Chrysalis was present, looks up at the Changeling before being confronted with a gaze of green eyes glowing a warmth of nurture alongside a smile of sympathy on the corner of the Chrysalis's mouth. Remaining silent as she continues staring into Chrysalis eyes; eyes that seemed to emanate a sweeping aura of calming green energy that glowed from her gaze. But before the dams truly burst however, Chrysalis grabs Luna's still slightly bleeding thighs and gently pushes against them. Realising the gestures' meaning, Luna loosens the grip of her mane around Chrysalis's neck so that she may pull away.
Taking a deep breath of fresh air, Chrysalis licks her lips to taste the stray juices that had seeped onto the areas around her mouth; the flavour of Luna's cilt meal swelling on her tongue with wonderful taste.
Raising herself upwards to stand, Chrysalis eyes the Alicorn with eyes of seduction as the two met face to face, "Still hungry?" Mused Luna, her lusty look matching the Changelings's, "Am I not satisfying your thirst for love, Changeling? Are you not entertained?"
Wrapping a soft hoof around Luna's waist and resting it on her plot, Chrysalis proceeds to rub the Night Princess' full moon with gentle strokes, the pattering of hoof on plot causing Luna more solace; resting her head on Chrysalis' shoulder, Luna shuts her eyes and moans in delight at the gentle crawling shivers on her plot as she feels more love seep from under her legs:
DRIP! DRIP! DRIP!...
"Your love is running excessively low, Alicorn." Whispers Chrysalis, her eyes watching the drops with aroused amusement as she bits her lip and pants: "I prefer to milk every drop you can offer, before fully relieving you."
"And how is that coming along?"

With a swift motion Chrysalis slaps Luna's plot before grabbing the Alicorn's throat and slamming her head into the wall that she hung from, a wave of anguish shooting up Luna's neck as her head hits the solid stone; the muffled scream of pain soon being drowned out by the dripping of vaginal liquid beneath. Clenched teeth in response to the trauma slowly giving way to a faint smile, "Watch." Orders Chrysalis, slowly withdrawing her firm grasp from Luna's throat.
Taking a step backwards and opening her mouth wide, Chrysalis gestures for Luna to do the same to which she obliges:
Soon the air between the two monarchs that slightly separated them, began to change into concentrated lines of purple light that became brighter and brighter. The air itself hummed with energy as it touched these passing ethereal rivers that seems to originate from the depths of Luna's mouth and was flowing into Chrysalis's.
For several moments the lines of flowed, visible to both Chrysalis and Luna to whom the latter watched with fascination. Eventually Chrysalis closes her mouth with Luna coping shortly after and to the Alicorns' surprise the purple ethereal flowing lines vanished in an instant.
"What was that?"
"Love. Specially your love. The kind that you have been producing ever since I first hit you. And the kind I've been feeding on ever since."
"Love? So I can feel it?"
"It's a very different kind of love that I've never tasted before and yet it is one of the most delicious kinds - I've never known a pony who enjoys feeling pain and humiliation and likes it. Much less loves it."

This energy possessed an enigmatic nature to its being that was only rivalled by its insatiable hungry for corruption of its host; the corruption of Luna. It was a shadow of hidden feelings, a desire of selfish motives that had grown ever stronger the more positivity and hence love had been sapped from Luna by Chrysalis. And with the occurrence of her climax, the last drops of love and goodwill had been taken by the Changeling queen, leaving a storm of negative desires in its place; a storm that soon showed itself to the world:

Within an instant, in an explosion of energy and gale winds, Chrysalis is thrown across the room before smashing into the opposite wall. Groaning in pain at the concussive force that ravaged her head, blurred vision lingering in the corner of her eyes as she wills herself to not fall unconscious from the impact. With the wind resisting her movements and her mind spinning, Chrysalis slowly rises to her feet with effort as she holds a hoof over her face to stop her hair from blowing into it. The wide-eyed Changeling staring in unbelieved shock at the sight she saw at the opposite end of the room she was just at:
Abyssal black masses of air formed from the discarded pieces reality, smothers Luna in a shroud of darkness, tightening around her body and binding to the Alicorn in a iron grip more stronger than her material chains. The forsaken mass of complete darkness soon condensing into a spherical concentration of unholy energy that rotates rapidly over its hosts' now hidden body, the tortured screams of Luna lost within the cyclonic winds that wiped around the room. The symbiont that was this hellish collection of malevolent desires, absorbs all light that passes to close to it like a black hole, and beyond its event horizon laid Luna, her anguish screams of torment unable to reach the outside word other than in hushed whispers.
"Luna!"
BANG!
Than in a similar explosion as before, Chrysalis was once more thrown backwards, her body twisting around quickly as she shot her hoofs upwards in front to absorb the blow as her body raced back into the wall. With bruised hoofs, Chrysalis turns back around to face the horror:
The flash of hellish red and black light of the swirling mist around Luna disappears into oblivion as the once spherical mass reshapes itself across the Alicorns' body to birth a creature of midnight, resurrected from the ashes of reality; a mare of elegant grace standing before the shocked bewielded Changeling queen. Her sapphire mane shone with the stars of the heavens, her eyes of cyan glowed as her dark iris, a narrow vertical silt, glared at Chrysalis. The mares' skin glistened a shade of black so perching it seemed to absorbed all light that struck it. Dark wings spread wide as she breathed a heavy breath of fresh air, the once black areas of her crescent moon now a deep purple in colour -- Nightmare Moon.
In the act of transformation, the chains had that once held Luna were now tattered pieces of rugged metal that laid on the ground, shattered under the intense energy. Chrysalis watches the Mare in the Moon for several silent moments longer in awe, her mouth open; if Luna was the goddess of the night, Nightmare Moon was the night incarnate.
Unable to resist the gesture, Chrysalis takes a deep breath before bowing her head, her heart racing in response to being in the presence of such a magnificent goddess.
"Nightmare Moon. Welcome to the Changeling Kingdom."
"You may clench your tongue, Queen Chrysalis. I am well aware of where I am. The memories of Princess Luna was passed onto me."
"Than you must know why you are here?" Inquired Chrysalis, easing herself up to stand.
"Yes. You brought the night goddess to your kingdom in hopes of some sick satisfaction of lovemaking that in all honesty was quite........enjoyable." Answerers Nightmare Moon, her fanged teeth forming a devilish smile as she spoke. "But I feel that is not all you wanted"
"No it is not. I will explain everything to you in due time, but first-" With a hue glow of green coloured magic from her horn, Chrysalis opens the door to their chamber before gesturing towards the hallway outside the room, smiling friendly as she spoke, "Walk with me, please?"
With a raised eyebrow, Nightmare Moon turns to face the now opened door before switching back to Chrysalis. Her eyes shift from Chrysalis to the door once more and finally to Chrysalis again, "....Of course."
Leaving the chamber side-by-side and walking down the empty hallway m, Nightmare Moon couldn't help but feel a sense of uncertainty about Chrysalis who was leading her through the Changeling hive towards an unknown destination. Soon her mind inquired with itself about the answer, as her investigative eyes glanced to the side at the walking Changeling, Where are you taking me Chrysalis? To which, as if reading her feeling, Chrysalis answers with glance back, "If you wish to know why I brought you here against your will; I think it would be easier to show you, Nightmare Moon. A tour if you will?"
"If it will offer me answers, and allow me to stay in your pleasing company queen Chrysalis than I will accept."
"Thank you Nightmare Moon, and please just Chrysalis will do."
"Very well. Please just call me Nightmare."
From that, no further words were said for several minutes of strolling down the hallway and around corners, eventually leading to a balcony overlooking a VAST open chamber of the hive that could easily have passed for the outside world. Indeed that is what Nightmare first though before noticing the roof overhead and realising they were still within the hive.
"This first area is the Training Ground." Explained Chrysalis, giving a wide arch with her hoof stretched out in front, "It simulates the varies habitants of Equestria. Forests, plaines, hills, deserts and so on. Each broken up into their respected sections. As you can see, my warriors below are busy putting it to good use."
Chrysalis points out the small figures that were Changeling soldiers training and allows Nightmare to watch inquisitively; the warrior drones partook in magical firing exercises using their green magic beams that shot several dummy ponies at varies test rangers within the different terrains. All the while officer Changelings directed the varies squads with shouted orders that Nightmare could just hear over the BANG! BANG! BANG! of magic sparks and projectiles being firing:
"Delta squad go up the left flank!"
"Get moving before they pin you down Foxtrot!"
"Bravo fall back, let them come to you!"
"You are poor excuses for soldiers! If this was the real war, those Pegasi would have picked you off by now!"
War? Thought Nightmare, as she watched the soldiers work, "Impressive troops."
"Thank you. It's what they were born for - moving on."
After the soldiers, the Changeling monarch led Nightmare to her leading General, Pharynx who gave the Alicorn a kiss on the hoof as they introduced. During their brief discussion, Chrysalis enquired about several 'operations' to which Phyarnax replied formally and confidently, "Each of the preparatory stages has been compleat my queen. The invasion will soon take place."
Invasion?
The third area Nightmare was than led to consisted of another huge open chamber of the hive with its vast floor filled with clusters of overmorph eggs. Tiny lava were hatching from some of the older clusters as Changeling drones darted in and out of the clusters, to tend to the needs of their young brothers and sisters with hundreds entering the world at any given time and hundreds of drones rushing about to make the transition as easy as possible.
"The Hatchery." Declared Chrysalis, a warm motherly smile on her face as she watches the young Changelings, "My new recruits. We will need as many as we can muster for the coming storm."
The final area consisted of several rooms each reminiscent of an office building with walls lined with dozens of photos of Equestrian ponies.
Hanging next to each photo were sheets of paper with descriptions describing said ponies' interests, personality, history and relations with other ponies. A group of leading Changelings gave each new comer a pony to replicate of which the participating Changeling than proceeded to walk towards their separate booths to a shape-shift into their given pony.
Said Changeling than stood next to their pony photos and sheets all the while practicing what is was like to be their new identity; pretending to talk to imaginary friends and family, enacting some of their hosts' interests and recalling their history:
"Hi I am Lyra. My best friend is Bon Bon and we do everything together except express our love for each other......yet."
"Greetings, my name is Fancy Pants. I spend 3 hours every morning preparing to look fancy before I eat breakfast."
"Hello, My name is Doctor Whooves. I secretly love Derpy; she is the Morty to my Rick - two geniuses followed around by two retards. I know, I met them using my TARDIS.
"I'm Big Mac. Yeeep."
There were dozens of "Ponies"/Changeling each practicing their role like an actor about to go on stage. Exactly what kind of "stage" the Changeling had in mind was still eluding Nightmare but she was starting to put the pieces together:
"Spies of yours, Chrysalis?"
"Yes. Each pony photo you see one of my spies replicate is a pony we have captured. The spy becomes the new pony and we send them back into Equestria to undermine the efforts of the ponies in preparations for our main attack."
"Equestria is aware of what is happening Chrysalis....at least partially."
"I know Nightmare. That is why they sent you- sorry I met Luna to the border regions; Celestia knows her precious little ponies are disappearing like whispers in the wind on a daily basis. She also knows that those who do return are behaving in a slight egocentric manner and it's causing the disappeareds' friends and family trouble."
"I can see that; your spies' acting needs work." Replies Nightmare, pointing at the Changelings within the room as they listened to their humours attempts of being Ponies:
"I know that I'm a Pegasus and that I can fly, but will my wings cause me to drown if I try to swim?"
"I'm a Unicorn and my horn can, besides casting spells, be used as a baseball bat. Quick pitch me that ball I'll show you!"
"Being an Earth pony isn't so bad. We make the other two races feel special because we are inferior; so that makes us special doesn't it?"
Chysalis moans with annoyance as she face palms herself with a hoof, "They are improving, although not as fast as I would have hoped. Besides, as long as Equestria doesn't find out what we are doing here until it is too late victory is ensured for us."
"And what exactly are you doing here, Changeling?" Inquires Nightmare, already pretty sure of the answer but just wanting to hear it from Chrysalis to confirm her theory.
"War; We are preparing for war with Equestria and the Crysatal Empire; A war against the Alicorn goddesses.......But here is not the place to discus such matters. Please let us return, Nightmare Moon."
And with that the tour was concluded.
Untold time was spent walking back to the chamber of which they came from, with Nightmare trying to keep track of the number of corners and walkways they had transversed in order to get a sense of direction - eventual she gave up trying to mentally map the maze that was the Changelings' hive, I am grateful Chrysalis is here. She thought while observing the architecture and seeing the numerous wall-holes that led to additional passageways, I would certainly be lost without her guiding me.
Once they reached their destination, Chrysalis opens the chamber and enters after Nightmare, her magical telekinesis pulling the door shut behind them as the two now stood silently within the same room.
Nightmare Moon stares across at the broken chain links dangling from the ceiling that had recently held herself/Luna captive. Her back facing Chrysalis, her eyes narrowing, "Equestria has not seen a war since my rebellion to take the throne from Celestia and that was over one thousand years ago. The nation is woefully unprepared for a conflict."
"Which is why it is now the best time to attack it, while it's blinded and weak." Replies Chrysalis, drifting past her company as she goes to lean on the wall Nightmare was gazing at, her hoof grabbing one of the hanging chains as she proceeded to spin it around in a small circle.
"That does not mean you should underestimate Equestria. Despite its weak persona, ponies are quick to adapt to new threats. Celestia in particular is, and she is somepony you should NOT underestimate. Trust me Chrysalis, I made that mistake a long time ago and it cost me my freedom for a thousand years."
"Celestia is not the reason you lost Nightmare Moon, it was the Elements of Harmony. I've herd the story; 'The Mare in the Moon was on the verge of defeating Celestia and enforcing the eternal night, when suddenly Celestia equiped the Elements and banished Nightmare Moon to the moon for a thousand years' - the biggest threat to us Changelings is NOT Celestia, it is the Elements of Harmony, specially those six ponies who wield them."
"Regardless, you need to figure out a way to neutralise the Element Bearers and Celestia as soon as possible if you hope for this war to be a quick victory for yourself."
"Don't worry about those details, Nightmare." Muses Chrysalis her eyeslids lowering at Nightmare, "I have already thought of a plan to remove the Elements and Celestia from the equation and when the time comes they will be, you will see."
"And how do you hope to do that?"
"Like I said, you don't need to know those details."
"Than tell me Changeling, what details must I know? Why are you telling me all this and what is the real reason you summoned me here?" Demands Nightmare, her regal tone growing with agitation as she stamped her hoof into the ground at the sight and sound of the Changelings' confidence or rather overconfidence as she viewed it.
Chrysalis drops the chain and stands up straight in response to Nightmare's words, her relaxed features disappearing as she acknowledged Nightmare's anger and quickly gets to the point, "I need your help Nightmare Moon. And you need mine."
"Explain yourself, Chrysalis."
"Taking Equestria through war will be a costly endeavour for us Changeling no matter how well prepared we are or how many numbers we have. One of the greatest threats like we discussed will be the Alicorn goddesses, Princess Celestia and Princess Cadence. The short answer is that we Changelings will be relatively capable of neutralising the six ponies who use the Elements of Harmony but to neutralise deities is a FAR more difficult challenge."
Pointing a hoof at her chest, Nightmare Moon raises an eyebrow as a small smile crept onto her face, "I take it that's why you need me? You want a goddess on your side so you can combat Equastria's goddesses?"
Chrysalis's eyes become hidden once more behind lowered eyelids as she sighs and speaks, "You know for the goddess of the night, you are quite bright Nightmare Moon....bright like the day."
Nightmare lowers her gaze to the ground in slight embarrassment, a tiny red hue of a blush forming on her cheeks, "....Thank you."
"Compliments aside however, yes that is the real reason I brought you here - I propose an alliance between the Mare in the Moon and the Changeling Queen."
Retaining her raised eyebrow, Nightmare shifts her eyes onto the Changeling with intense focus. Her voice stern, "The Changelings race will take new lands, resources and I will gain the Equestrian throne; those Changeling that live in Equastria will be my vassals?"
"Yes and yes. But furthermore we will require something else from Equastria's spoils."
"Name it."
"Cattle; specially the ponies of Equestria; inhabitants that we can use to farm love from like cattle in order to feed my Changeling swarms."
Nightmare's eyes widen as she felt her throat clench tight, she opens her mouth to speak but stutters, the lump in her throat preventing her from talking.
"No no no! Don't worry we will not kill anypony in the process." Reassures Chrysalis, forcing her mouth to not burst open in laughter at the sight of the stunned, lost-for-words goddess, "But we will drain all sense of love from them and possible convert them to our side, once they see how weak an emotion love really is. Like I have done with Princess Luna. Also, now that I have discovered a new way of extracting love more efficiently from intercoursing with you, via applying pain and humiliation, we Changeling will seek to replicate the process but on a much wider scale."
"How large a scale are you thinking, Chrysalis?"
"Nation-wide. Once resistance in Equestria is crushed we will established "pleasure camps" across Equestria and bring ponies to them, there we will subject them to sensations of pain and humiliation alongside sexual intercourse as we farm their love from them - again no pony will die in the process."

Breathing a heavy sigh, Nightmare runs a hoof through her sparkling mane and takes a step back. Her mind races with all the information she was just granted as she took several moments of quite contemplation, processing it all. Eventually speaking, "So in summary; I will gain the Equestrian throne and the ability to rule over ALL ponykind. Enforce my eternal night and command new subjects from Changelings who wish to live in Equestria. While you and the Changeling will gain a large source of love to feed on, possible new numbers to your ranks, more land and more resources?
"Yes that is ALL correct, Nightmare Moon. What do you say? Do we have an alliance?"
"I may need to think on that for a while Chrysalis. Just give me a moment."
"Take your time. After all, who wouldn't want to agree to a deal that granted you EVERYTHING your heart desires?"
Nightmare turns around to face her back to Chrysalis and walks to the opposite end of the room to pace there; Was this really happening? One of the arch enemies of Equestria, Queen Chrysalis was really proposing an alliance with her? The forces of the night and the Changeling swarms working together against Equestria?
Such a thought brought a cold chill up Nightmare's back as she continued pacing back and fourth.
Surly this proposal would only seem real if it were a dream, a dream not too different from the dreams she herself governed in the subconscious minds of her subjects - but no this was not a dream, this was reality and Chrysalis really was offering a meaningful partnership:
With our combined efforts we certainly would stand a better chance of success together than we would alone......but can Chrysalis be trusted?
The answer to said question remained as hidden as Chrysalis's true motives; unless her motives were what she truly said they were? Were they? But would Chrysalis not try and betray her the first chance she could?
Too much uncertainty continued to cloud Nightmare's judgement, her anxious thoughts racing wild for the entire time she paced. Her breathing increasing alongside the speed of her footing, until eventually she couldn't take it any longer - she needed to know if Chrysalis was trustworthy. And to that end, she begged the question to the Changeling queen in hopes of putting her doubts to rest:
"I have one condition -- tell me why you hate love so much, and Equestria."
"...To explain that...I have to use yourself as an example."
"Than do so."
Taking a deep breath as she collected her composure and organised her wording, Chrysalis looks Nightmare up and down in a glance before closing her eyes to think - Nightmare's request being not the expected answer she thought.
After opening her eyes again, Chrysalis stares the Alicorn in her eyes as she gave the long awaited responses that plagued the Nightmare, "It's strange; originally you were almost entirely void of love for me to feed upon, and yet the moment I discovered that through pain you will release the last inklings of love your soul held onto - was the same moment I realised that you truly were a pony out of my own heart."
"How so?"
"As Luna, you never felt genuine love from any pony, not from your subjects, your friends or even your sister. Quite the contrary as they seemed to have been the cause of your suffering as the Princess of the Night and so you became as you are now; the Mare in the Moon."
Nightmare lowers her gaze to the floor in a gesture of shameful acknowledgement, another lump forming in her throat as her tail mane seemed to curl itself under her legs.
With her Changeling magic reading Nightmare's emotional feelings while her eyes watched her body language, Chrysalis feels the kindling warmth of her heartbeat rise as her eyes shifted in a sympathised gaze of care, "I too know what it's like. My entirely Changeling race knows what it's like; to be at the centre of humiliation and torment, for everyone around us to hate us and reject us for being the creatures we didn't ask to be and yet to still be hated for it.....I know what it's like, Nightmare Moon."
Slowly walking over towards the hurting Alicorn, Chrysalis rests a gentle hoof on Nightmare's shoulder before using the other to lift her companion's chin up, "I know why you became their monster. The stuff of their nightmares; because you lost all sense of love for them because they stole it ALL from you - we Changeling too, had our love stolen from us - now we steal the love of others, to replace that what was taken from us and for our enemies to know our torment."
"I loved, and still love, the thing I was born for - I loved the night and all it's beauty; the moon and the stars, the tranquilly silence and the cool winds that blow across a pony's face and lifts their wings so that they may fly above Equestria."
"We are not so different. I needed to only show you; to show how shallow the love of your subjects and sister was - the same "love" that was so very wasteful for you to cling onto when in truth - you didn't need it anymore. You didn't need to keep forcing yourself to believe a lie."
"You held onto it as a last hope; hope that maybe those who wronged you could be forgiven and they learn to love you back like you always wanted? But now you must see that will never become a reality, unless you force others to love you. And I just demonstrated that with you; I showed you how I can force another pony to love something or somepony else through force."
With hesitant hoofs Nightmare wraps herself in an embrace of warmth around Chrysalis, her eyes becoming watery at the soft touch of the Changeling queen against her body, "You showed me the truth. You showed where my true love lies; it lies with the torment and humiliation of myself and others - maybe because I felt anguish for so long, I've learned to love it?"
"Yes! That is exactly correct. As I injured you, the love you produced did not say anything else. And you can't lie when I say that you enjoyed it considerably."
"And you think it can copied onto other Ponies?"
"I am optimistic. We won't know until we try but if it does work I have you to thank for it."
Nudging Nightmare's hoofs clear from her chest, Chrysalis offers a reassuring smile, her eyes glowing a determined gaze. Wiping away a small tear from her companion's cheek, Chrysalis combs Nightmare's mane with caring strokes as she once more raised the Alicorns' chin up with a hoof before speaking in a hopeful tone, "Rise, you are the Mare in the Moon; stand upright with your head raised high like the regal goddess you are, Nightmare."
Quiet followed with Nightmare Moon taking the encouragement and lifting her posture. Blinking away the tear drops in her eyes, her firm legs setting in place as Nightmare's body forms a rigid frame that screams of dominance and command while her stellar mane waves in the current of a non-existent wind like a flag.
"Wonderful. Now you look like the deity you were born as."
A small blush forms on Nightmare alongside a faint smile. She looks at Chrysalis who returns the smile back before the Changeling shifts her features into a more serious tone of flat lips and slightly narrowed eyes, a gesture signalling her willingness to return to matters of business instead of pleasure to which Nightmare followed, "...You spoke about your Changelings consuming other ponies love to replace the love they lost...Is it possible that your thirst can ever be fully sautéed?"
"If it could it would have occurred by now. Equestria is not the first land we have annexed free of love and it won't be the last. We simply try to consume love faster than we crave it -- it's an addiction, but one that makes us strong. It unifies us."
"At the cost of others feeling happiness?"
"Like I said, the world took all sense of happiness from us and if we show it again they will only take it once more; we would rather be spiteful and strong, than happy and weak."
"So their is no salvation for your species?"
"This is our only option; to consume the love of others. There doesn't exist any other solutions."
"Have you tried?"
"We have tried EVERY conceivable possible means for centuries to no avail! There is no way we will produce love ourselves and risk becoming weak or risk experiencing the same humiliation and suffering as before when our love was taken from us!"
Taking a series of deep breaths to calm down, Chrysalis rubs the pounding centre of her head with a hoof as she closes her eyes for several long meditative moments before eventually speaking once more to the stunned Nightmare Moon who looked regretful for upseting Chrysalis, "Surly you must know where I stand, after all you know what it feels like, Nightmare?"
Conducting a similar silent mediation as Chrysalis, Nightmare closes her eyes and thinks carefully for the duration of the silence before finally answering with a nod.
"And because you know what it feels like...I wish for you to help me and for me to help you...All we Changelings have are each other and all I have to relate to is you - in time I hope to care for you like my subjects so that we may share the same purpose...And the same sympathy."
"...You speak almost like you...love me."
"..I care for you because I see in you a reflection of myself - a pony who the world turned its back on."
"...Are you fully incapable of love yourself, Chrysalis?"
"I feel a powerful sense of care, you may call it "love", to my hive and my Changelings because I am their queen - I have wondered at times if I would ever develop an even deeper feeling of attachment to somepony.........I suppose I now have towards you, Nightmare Moon."
"So you do love me?"
A non-responsive pause follows as Chrysalis lowers her eyes to the floor with a heavy blush, her legs quivering. Alongside the rapid beating of her heart that raced ever faster, a hot sweat soon dripped from Chrysalis's neck the longer she stood in the presences of Nightmare.
Bitting her lip and feeling a warm glow build inside her chest that felt like the flutter of butterflies flying inside her, Chrysalis rises her gaze to look Nightmare within her beautiful eyes that shone like stars for her, and proclaimed:
"...Yes. You can say I do...I love you, Nightmare Moon."
Nightmare takes a deep breath of air as she stares into the Chrysalis perching emerald eyes that sparkled. Her chest rises and falls with each heavy breath as a similar blush to Chrysalis's grows on her own cheeks. Suddenly she felt like she was flying without flapping her wing as she leaned in close to Chrysalis, "...Maybe I can help give you the love you lost so long ago, Chrysalis......I love you too."
And with that the two monarchs kissed; a passionate gesture of each other's love for their spouse that carried over for several moments; Nightmare and Chrysalis spreading their wings wide overhead as they felt the calming body warmth of the other wash over them like a gentle wave of relaxation as they embraced.
Slowly pulling away from her beloved, Chrysalis strokes strands of Nightmare's mane from her partner's cheek as she whispers in lustful tone with lowered eyelids, "...Are you with me Nightmare?"
"...I am with you Chrysalis..Where do we begin with the invasion..my love?"
