Swapped And Confused

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

Big Mac knew something was wrong when he woke up and his siblings were standing taller than him, when it was usually him that was tallest.

He also knew something was wrong when he noticed that one of those ponies was him.

"Is this real?" Applejack asked his doppelganger, and Big Mac suddenly felt nervous. Where the hay was Apple Bloom? Suddenly, a feeling of dread entered his stomach, and he lifted up a hoof. It was small and yellow- not at all what his large red hoof should be. Big Mac gulped, and booped his nose. It was a filly muzzle, all right- and he could feel it. Without meaning to, he answered Applejack's question.

"Eeyup." His voice sounded like Apple Bloom's! But how? As he pondered this question, the two ponies stopped talking, and his doppelganger sighed.

"Big Mac, stop playin' jokes on us with that filly-like voice. You're not foolin' anypony." Then his doppelganger looked down at him, and his eyes widened. Big Mac had to admit it was a weird feeling.

"Uh..." His doppelganger looked very confused, and suddenly Big Mac realized that who he thought was Applejack was not in fact Applejack, but was probably-

"Apple Bloom? Is that you?" his doppelganger said, looking at Applejack. Applejack- no, Apple Bloom- nodded, and then his doppelganger, who he thought actually was Applejack, turned to him and said, "Big Mac? That you?"

Big Mac nodded. He looked up at Applejack, feeling extremely strange, for the face that looked back should not be staring at him except in a mirror. That face nodded before Big Mac could even get a word out.

"Yep. I'm Applejack." Applejack said. "And the first thing I'd like to know is, HOW IN THE HAY DID THIS HAPPEN TO US?!" Big Mac jumped a bit, not used to hearing his voice scream. Even Apple Bloom looked a bit shocked, and she ran over to jam a hoof in Applejack's mouth. The sight was so weird that Big Mac had to suppress a un-stallion-like giggle.

"Shush!" Apple Bloom said, looking around wildly. "Do you want Granny Smith to hear?!"

Big Mac had almost forgotten about what this would mean to Granny. He still wasn't sure how she hadn't been affected in the first place, but it didn't matter. He walked up to Applejack.

"Before we try and make the best of this situation, until it's fixed we should probably set a few rules," Big Mac said, still shocked about how young his voice sounded. "That okay with you two?" Applejack and Apple Bloom nodded.

"Number one," Big Mac said, "Applejack. No playing with that thing in between your legs." He fixed her with a glare, and Applejack blushed.

"Number two," Applejack said, "Apple Bloom. Keep to your- my- duties. Apple bucking, laundry, you know it."

Apple Bloom nodded, and turned to Big Mac. "Big Mac. Number three: Stay in school. Actually TALK to the Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo. Don't ignore them." Big Mac rolled his eyes.

"I'm SERIOUS, Big Mac. Don't ruin my social life. Got it? And, oh, right! Number four: Don't, I repeat, DON'T start anything with Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon. Even if they start things first."

"Eeyup." Big Mac said. Then, turning to Applejack, he said, "Number five. Speak as little as possible. If you talk as much as you usually do, then ponies may start getting suspicious." Applejack nodded.

"And Apple Bloom-" Applejack turned to her sister. "If your cutie mark starts glowing-"

"My what?!" Apple Bloom looked down at her flank, and stared at the three apples featured there. "I... I..."

"I HAVE MY CUTIE MARK!" Apple Bloom screamed happily, bouncing in a circle around them. If Big Mac didn't know better, he would've thought that Pinkie Pie swapped bodies with Applejack instead of Apple Bloom.

“Apple Bloom! Calm down!” Applejack said. Big Mac nodded.

“Applejack, you need to help out Granny, plus apple bucking. Make sure that Apple Bloom doesn’t blab.” Big Mac said. “I’m serious.”

“I’m not going to screw things up!” Apple Bloom said, annoyed. “If anypony would screw it up, it would be YOU, Big Mac.”

“Me?” Big Mac asked, confused. “Why would I do that?”

“Because you’d be annoyed about it, and complain to somepony. Then they would blab to other ponies, and all of Equestria would know!” Apple Bloom said sarcastically, rolling her eyes. Big Mac narrowed his eyes, and was about to retort when he realized something.

I’ve never really been this talkative before, he thought suddenly. This is crazy! I wonder if it’s because of the swap? Either way, he didn’t really like it.

“Alright. Is everypony aware of the rules?” Apple Bloom asked, putting a hoof in front of her.

“The rules sound fine to me,” Applejack replied, putting her hoof on top of her sister’s.

Big Mac nodded. “Eeyup.” With that, he put his hoof on top of his siblings’ hooves. They raised them up at the same time.

“Good luck, Big Mac,” Apple Bloom whispered, and ran off to start Applejack’s chores. Big Mac followed, ready to start his own chores, but stopped as a sudden realization came to him.

I have to go back to school… Big Mac thought. I really will need that luck.
