//-------------------------------------------------------// Sporting Pals -by Squint- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// The Announcement //-------------------------------------------------------// The Announcement "Rise and shine, Bon-Bon!!" A certain lime-green mare chimed, opening the door to her roommate's bedroom. There was a determined grin curled across her face as she pushed the door open, one hoof on her hip and the other on the doorknob. She was reared up on her hind hooves, standing like one of her 'humans' that she'd written so many songs about. Bon-Bon groaned and peered over at her alarm clock dazedly. She'd been sleeping soundly after her and Lyra's little 'treat' last night. "It's 5am, please just let me sleep.." She pulled her duvet up closer to herself and turned over onto her other side. She could immediately tell something was up, and she was pretty sure that she wasn't going to like that something, and certainly wasn't going to get out of doing it. "I've decided that we need to contribute to Ponyville, and to do that, this year we're gonna be in the annual Running of the Leaves!!" The unicorn mare passed a leaflet to Bon-Bon. When it wasn't taken by her roommate, she placed it on her table. "Huff. I'll go get you a protein shake to wake you up. Eggs and ... Protein are good for the soul!" Ick, that sounded horrible. Eggs? What had Lyra got into?.. Either way, she was probably going to end up having to run. Bon-Bon picked up the leaflet from the table and sat up in bed, swinging her hind legs over the edge. The Running of the Leaves is here again! Train up and get ready for this year's annual sporting ceremony, hosted right here in Ponyville's very own Whitetail Wood! Thunder through the fall leaves with friends, family, strangers and foes as you all race toward the finish to win 10,000 bits of prize money, and of course the glorious golden trophy, designed by none other than Photo Finish herself! Didn't Photo Finish just make dresses, outfits and take pictures..? Either way, this year's competition sounded pretty impressive. And 10,000 bits was quite a lot of money... Maybe Lyra was right in putting them up for this in the first place. Or at least, she hoped so. Down at the breakfast counter, an apron-wearing Lyra had finished cracking raw eggs and blending them to a gooey pulp. They didn't look good at first, but she added cinnamon to make them taste nice, with a bit of sugar...
