White Noise
Prologue: New Beginnings
Load Full StoryThe jingling of keys echoed throughout the house as Wind Breaker slowly opened up the front door and walked in. He took a deep breath as he studied his surroundings, an empty living room with a connecting kitchen and a hallway containing two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It wasn't the biggest house, but considering he'd be living here until he finished high school and possibly college, it would do just fine. Especially since he wasn't the one paying the rent. Wind set his keys on the island separating the kitchen and living room and went back out to his car to grab his belongings.
Out in the car's passenger seat was Flash Sentry, an old childhood friend. Flash got out of the car and followed him to the trunk, "Man, your folks really left you the keys to the house?"
Wind chuckled and nodded his head, "They bought a second house in Manehattan, and they're keeping this one for me until I finish high school since I chose to stay here in Canterlot."
"That's pretty awesome dude! You basically have your own bachelor pad!" Flash joked as Wind opened the trunk and handed him a box, "Joking aside though, you gonna start coming to Canterlot High?"
"Yup I'm not enjoying Crystal Prep, so starting tomorrow I'll be coming to Canterlot High." Wind said as he grabbed another box and followed Flash inside.
As they set the boxes on the living room floor, he paused for a moment. "Like always, I just didn't fit in. I'm an outsider."
Flash walked over to him and gave him a pat on the back, "Come on man, don't give up hope yet. Canterlot High will be different."
"I hope you're right. I really do." Wind sighed before they went out to grab more boxes. After about four more trips, the last of the boxes and other various belongings were now finally inside. The two boys came inside and sat down on the floor to rest for a moment.
A minute of silence passed before Wind spoke up, "I've been meaning to ask, what clubs and extra-curricular activities does Canterlot High offer?"
"There's a lot actually." Flash replied, "Theatre, Band, Choir, Sports, and a ton of clubs. It'd be hard to name all of them off the top of my head. Why? You thinking of joining one?"
Wind shrugged, "Maybe. I feel like trying out a sport and doing something related to music to spice up my free time, you know?"
Flash nodded, "Good idea. It does help take some stress off of schoolwork at the end of the day."
"Yeah, not only that but I need something to keep me out of the house according to my parents." Wind laughed as he recalled his parents lecturing him before they left.
"What about a job?" Flash asked curiously.
"Well I haven't put much thought into it since my parents are covering my bills and food, but I'll probably apply for a job at that coffee shop down the street for some extra money in my pocket." Wind explained as he looked around the room, "I'm definitely going to need the money for furniture and decking out my bachelor pad."
"That's true!" Flash stood up and laughed, "Anyways, I better get going so I can get some chores done before bed."
Wind stood up and walked to the door with Flash, "Alright man, I guess I'll see you tomorrow morning?"
Flash nodded, "Yeah. I'll meet you in front of the school doors, sound good?"
"Sounds good to me!" Wind gave a thumbs up and opened the door, "See you later bro!"
"See ya!" Flash said before leaving.
Closing the door, Wind looked back at the mess of belongings in the living room. It was going to take quite a while to unpack before bed. Sighing, he stretched and made his way over to the bathroom. Standing there in the mirror in front of him, was a reflection of a snow white boy with matching snow white hair that was messy and unkempt in style. The reflection stared back at him with royal blue eyes that shined in the bright light of the bathroom. As he observed his appearance, a memory came rushing back to him.
A thousand eyes stared down Wind as he was walking down the large halls of Crystal Prep. Anxiety took over his senses and he overheard the whispers around him as he made his way to math class.
"Would you look at that freak? He looks like a ghost!" One girl whispered with other girls nearby laughing.
Another guy nearby scoffed, "Who let Frosty the Snowman come to school?"
Wind's breathing began to shake as he began to get upset and tear up a little. He started increasing his pace as soon as he saw his class up ahead.
"Would you look at! He's crying!" A jock laughed with a smug smirk on his face.
The jock's friend rolled his eyes and chuckled, "Nah man, Frosty's melting!"
Immediately everyone in the hallway started to breakout into laughter, causing Wind to run inside the classroom and sit down in the first desk he saw. Once sitting down, he hid his face in his arms and waited for class to start. Hopefully math would be a good enough distraction so no one would see him cry.
Returning back to reality, Wind just sighed and exited the bathroom and went back to the boxes to finish unpacking. The first boxes he unpacked were full of clothes and and shoes. Various button up shirts, t-shirts, jackets, and black jeans littered the floor as he sorted through them. He would need an outfit tomorrow, so he grabbed a plain navy blue t-shirt, a black leather jacket with a hood, and a pair of black jeans with a pair of marine green converse. Satisfied with his selection, Wind let out a yawn and looked at his watch. Deciding he would deal with the rest of his belongings later after school tomorrow, he got up and made his way to the master bedroom to get ready for bed.
Wind was going to need all the rest he could get.
Author's Note
Hey everyone!
This story has been something I've been thinking about for a while and I decided to finally try it out. Considering this story is a bit a side project for me, it might not be super polished. So go a bit easy on it! LOL Anyways, I'm off to go back to writing the next chapter for With Bursts of Speed (my other story). Until next time!
Stay Classy!
