Prelude: The Meeting With the Trio
It was a normal day in Equestria. The circle of the sun shined brightly in the cloudless blue sky. The trees swayed from the breeze that swept by.
On the ground, was a dragon with a black body and a purple underbelly. He had blue eyes, small spines sticking out of his back, as well as black wings.
Its name was Moon Star, a shape-shifting dragon who is currently in his dragon form. He was a muscular dragon with a silver colored sword and with the hilt of a dragon wings and rubies as eyes.
It's been no more than a few months since the battle with Tirek, and everything was going well except for one thing: the darkness is on the loose, and Moon is not yet prepared for the worse thing that could happen if he was unprepared.
Suddenly, raising his head high in the air, Moon sniffled for anything suspicious as he noticed a strange vessel going down on the planet of Equestria.
"I wonder what that could be here..." Moon whispered to himself as he noticed the vessel going down to Sweet Apple Acres. "That's where Applejack is right now!"
Spreading his wings, Moon flew at top speed for the backyard of Sweet Apple Acres where his friend should be working at right now.
They groaned as the gummi ship landed harshly on the ground. The trio never expected it to be going so fast in just a matter of a few minutes. They really need to be careful with the controls of this vessel.
"You guys okay?" the teen with brown spiky hair asked his friends as they nodded slowly in a dazed way. The teen looked out of the cockpit of the gummi ship. "Looks like we made it to another world." The boy noted.
"Really?" the duck asked as he looked out of the cockpit. "Who would've thought it?"
"Really, Donald?" the teen questioned. "You're going to be that way now?"
"Yeah." The duck, named Donald, simply answered. "We're in another world, and that means more fight with the darkness."
"Ahyuck," Donald's friend, Goofy, gave a chuckle. "Looks like we're pretty much in for a ride, huh?"
"Yeah," the teen, who was called Sora, agreed. "This will most likely be the last time we'll be seeing the darkness, and I'm pretty much excited to seal it away."
"Same here," his friends agreed with nods of their heads.
Stepping out of the gummi ship, the trio was about to take another step until they noticed their new forms.
Sora's form was a brown pegasus with his clothes still attached. He had a spiky brown mane and tail when he looked with his eyes. He still wore his necklace.
Goofy's form was an Earth pony. He had his usual skin shaped form, but he still maintained weird looks and face.
Donald's form was also a pegasus. He had his wings on his back, with his form being a white pegasus but he still has his magician tipped hat on his head.
"Check us out!" Sora exclaimed in surprise. "We're horses!"
"I dunno, Sora," Goofy looked at the teen. "We're actually ponies now. You're an shorter version of Pegasus from Olympus, the same goes for Donald."
"Huh," Sora hummed until they heard the beat of wings as they noticed an rather smaller version of Maleficent's dragon form landing on the ground a few meters away from them.
"Who are you?!" the dragon demanded for answers in a hurried voice. "Where did you come from? And, most important...why are you looking as weirdos?"
"Weirdos?!" Donald's face went red as his short-temper got into display. "Why...I oughta give you something!" He was squawking so much the dragon couldn't understand him.
"Huh?" the dragon questioned.
"Excuse him for a moment," Sora told the dragon, still shell-shocked to find a smaller Dragon Maleficent. "Anyway, are you some sort of a smaller version of a dragon we know?" He was referring to the evil fairy, but the dragon in front of him tilted his head in confusion.
"Who are you talkin' about?" the black dragon asked the teen.
"Wait a moment." Goofy got his friends in a circle with their backs turned to the dragon. "You know, Sora, we can't just reveal the things we are doing to someone we don't know."
"I know," Sora reminded him. "But, he is confused and was a bit demanding than what he's now. I dunno about you, but I'll tell him about her in some way he might recognize the fairy we are enemies of." He was whispering as he didn't want to be eavesdropped by the dragon, who was currently tapping his claw on the ground in impatience.
"Are you done?" the dragon questioned the trio.
"Sorry," Sora apologized, as he decided to reveal what the one he was referring to with the dragon. "But, as you didn't seem to know who I was referring to, I was talking about an evil fairy named Maleficent. Have you seen her in this world?"
"Maleficent?" the dragon tilted in much confusion. "Sorry, but haven't notice that fairy, of who you are referring to. But, I know that the darkness from other worlds. This darkness has caused so much deaths on my home planet, that I'm just dying to destroy it more than ever before."
Sora smiled at the determination the dragon displayed in his eyes. "I think I can relate to that," the teen said.
"Oh?" the dragon was intriguing now.
"You see," Sora began, "I'm looking for a few friends of mine along with a King. If the four of us work together, I believe we can vanquish the darkness from the face of the universe. If you're up for it."
The dragon was murmuring as he thought deeply about this choice of a request. If he want to vanquish the darkness, along with his darker side, he'll have to do it the hard way and stop it with a group of friends who is in much need of help as he is. He also would want to protect his world from the evil of the universe, so that'll be a complicated quest to stop it once and for all.
"Alright," the dragon decided. "I'm up for it."
"Perfect!" Sora smiled gleefully as he wondered the dragon's name. "Um, not for much...who are you?"
"My name is Moon Star," the dragon replied. "I'm the strongest creature you have ever put your eyes on. You'll get to know more about my strength against the evil darkness."
1. First Battle for Equestria
Author's Note
This chapter has the Unversed from Birth by Sleep into the story. Sorry if it were short like the previous one, but I'll do longer chapters next time.
I'll go from Kingdom Hearts II to Dream Drop Distance and then Kingdom Hearts III, as I enjoyed watching a cutscene only video on YouTube to put the games into my fan fiction.
The one cutscene video I had seen (for Kingdom Hearts III) lasted for ten hours long, an hour longer than the Kingdom Hearts II cutscene video I also enjoyed.
1. First Battle for Equestria
After the introduction with the trio, Moon told his new comrades that he'll need to say farewell to his family and friends before they move on with their new mission. Sora, and Goofy, was understandable. Donald, well...
"Why do you even need to say goodbye?!" the white pegasus squawked in exclamation.
"Because," Moon repeated in irritation. "I'll need to do it. If I don't, then they might consider me something I don't like to be. So, that's why I need to say a farewell to them. They're my family, remember?"
Donald sighed in exaggerate as he fought with Moon over these small things. "You don't even need to say goodbye," he noted. "If Sora didn't tell you already, we didn't said goodbye to our family and friends."
"From what I remembered," Moon reminded the duck-turned-pegasus. "You were sad about leaving this 'Daisy' on your first adventure."
Donald's face went red as Sora and Goofy chuckled quietly with hooves on their muzzles.
"He got you good there, Donald," Goofy chuckled again.
"Oh, yeah?" Donald argued with Moon. "Well, I'll show you!"
"You already showed me your weakness," Moon noted in reminder. "Your weakness is about leaving Daisy behind, isn't it?"
"Stop it!" Donald demanded.
Suddenly, while having their argument, Moon felt a presence of a creature in darkness within the shadows. He whirled around, summoning his sword, Draconis, as Sora summoned his Keyblade while the Donald and Goofy got their weapon and shield ready.
Jumping out of the ground, an horde of Heartless was in front of the group of friends as Moon's sapphire eyes widened in shock as he never knew the darkness was going to be this big.
"W-What are those?" Moon asked his comrades, a bit shocked.
"Heartless," Sora gritted his teeth when he said that. "They're the creatures of darkness, beings who steals other people's hearts and turning them into their own kind. They're bad news to be in this world."
Moon got the message loud and clear as he turned back to face the horde of Heartless. Readying his Draconis, the dragon and the trio charged first into the horde as the Heartless began their group attack on the four friends.
Sora swung his Keyblade at the Heartless, destroying them easily with no difficulty at all. However, when a Heartless tried to jump behind him, Moon managed to flew at it and destroyed it in a slash attack with Draconis. He nodded to Sora as the teen thanked him before the duo got back to the fight with the Heartless horde.
Donald raised his staff into the air as he shouted, "Thunder!" A bolt of lightning struck the Heartless surrounding the white pegasus. He continued using his magic's mana until he absorbed some of the blue balls the Heartless turned into, making Donald's mana back to full energy.
Goofy barged through the horde of Heartless with his shield, causing the Heartless in his way to be destroyed into Munny, health orbs, and mana orbs.
Moon felt the Munny orbs into him as he opened his small, infinite pocket that Sora had given him for the Munny the teen has. He also absorbed some mana orbs, as well as the health orbs. The dragon pointed the tip of his sword at the rest of the horde of Heartless, as Sora and his friends looked at him while the many creatures of darkness were at one place in front of the black dragon. Feeling an surge of energy flowing through him, Moon's sword began to light up with a red flaming swirl coming out of the tip of he blade. He aimed at the Heartless before the swirling flame was shot at the horde, setting them ablaze as the Heartless was all but destroyed into multiple Mana, Health, and Munny orbs.
No sign of flames on the apple trees, which was good.
"Whoa!" The trio Moon befriended were all but impressed with the work the dragon had done.
"That was not even at my fullest," Moon said in disappointment, making his Draconis disappear from his right forepaw as did Sora's Keyblade when the fight was over.
Absorbing the mana and health orbs, Moon and the trio took the Munny orbs into their infinite pockets as their reward for defeating the Heartless horde, for now.
"Well, it was fun while it lasted," Moon murmured to himself.
As the group inspected any further of what the Heartless could've had damaged, no sign of any of fallen trees were seen in the area. That was good, so they decided to get to Moon's home in Canterlot for the dragon's piece of armor he need for this journey he was going into.
Arriving in the city of Canterlot, the noble ponies looked at the strange trio of friends as Sora was nervous as was Donald and Goofy. However, no one said a word as they kept on doing their daily life, relieving the trio for now.
"We'll just need to get to the palace," Moon told his comrades. "I have my armor there."
"Alright," Sora nodded as the four moved on to the palace in the back of the capital city. As the four friends got to the gate of the palace, the guards noticed their lieutenant in front of them as they moved out of the way for the group to pass. Sora was surprised at this as the group got inside the palace. After a while, the teen asked the dragon, "How did that go so quick?"
"Let's just say," Moon smiled a bit, "that I've been in the royal guard for six years since I was five years old. I am a lieutenant even if I am not in the guard anymore. They still call me that, because I've saved them from previous threats in this world. Since I faced those threats, I was in the guard protecting the innocence of Equestria."
Sora nodded in understanding as they were now in front of Moon's room. The dragon opened the door to his room and, as the trio got inside, closed the door as Moon made his way to his closet on the left side of the room.
Moon opened his closet, revealing a golden clad piece of armor hanging on the attire in within the closet. He put the golden piece of the helmet on his head, perfectly fitting as the horns stuck out from the holes. Then, Moon put the tail piece on his tail, before moving to his back and the wings, putting them on.
Turning around after closing the closet, Moon was greeted by the admiring expressions his comrades showed. He chuckled as he spoke. "Is this really that admirable?"
Getting out of their admiring expressions, the trio simply replied in nods of their heads as Moon shook his head in amusement.
The group was about to leave until Moon spoke once more, making Donald irritated at this point.
"I'll need to say goodbye to my family," he told them for the record of the tenth time.
"Why is that so important?!" Donald squawked angrily, getting in front of Moon's face as the dragon was unfazed. "You are getting us late to save the worlds from darkness, you idiot!"
Not intimidated, Moon responded calmly, "Relax, Donald. I'll not be long for this." Then he pushed the duck-turned pegasus out of the way as the dragon made his way to the throne room of the palace.
Donald muttered something under his breath, but Sora heard what he was muttering.
"Why are you saying that, Donald?" the teen asked his friend.
"Because--" Donald was cut off by Sora, who put a hoof on the white pegasus' muzzle, silencing him.
"Don't say it," the teen warned. "If he overhears you, who knows what will happen?"
"Gee," Donald removed the hoof away from his muzzle. "I wonder what he's going to do?"
"Maybe getting all your feathers off your whole body if you're not careful with your words." This was Moon's voice as the dragon was in front of the trio outside the doorway.
"Wha--" Donald was not expecting the dragon to be that quick. "H--Where did you come from?!"
"Was just reassuring my family that I'll be returning after an errand," Moon replied. "I told them that, it'll be a long while before they'll see me again. So, they need to hold their spirits up."
"Alright," Sora nodded as the group of four made their to the front gate of the palace. As the group got out of the palace, they soon spotted shadows going under the ground of the city as they were alerted by this move.
The guards of the palace's gate wasn't there, so the Heartless could just attack it anytime now. That is, if the four friends has something to say about it.
Nodding to each other, the group followed the shadows through the city of Canterlot, as the citizen ponies was indoors as they knew a threat was coming by unknown means.
As the group got to a safe part out of Canterlot, in a plain area, the shadows revealed themselves. The Unnerved appeared, who are also creatures of darkness.
"Let's get ready to rumble!" Moon shouted as his Draconis sword was summoned in his forepaw's claws. Sora's Keyblade, and Donald and Goofy's weapons, was summoned as well.
The Unversed moved in first, as the group of friends split up to take on the creatures by different places. The dragon made his work by slashing against the Unversed, destroying a couple of them with sharp and fast swings of Draconis. Sora slashed his Keyblade at the Unversed as well, destroying a few in a couple of swings. Goofy barged his shield into the Unversed, making them disappear into darkness as they were defeated.
Donald raised his staff into the air, shouting: "Thunder!" A bolt of lightning struck the Unversed surrounding the white pegasus.
More Unversed, even Heartless, appeared around the group of heroes. Moon readied his trusty sword, as did Sora with his trusty Keyblade.
The dark creatures jumped out of the ground, as they began their attack on the heroes while Moon, Sora, Donald, and Goofy used everything they got in order to beat the heck out of the enemies. Many Mana, Health, and Munny orbs floated above the ground after the battle was over as quickly as it had come.
The group then made their way to where the Gummi ship was waiting for them. Moon wondered why it had the word 'gummi' in it, but Sora said he shouldn't ask the question as he does not know the answer either.
They got into the ship's cockpit, which was big enough to host four people. Then, the ship flew into the atmosphere as it disappeared into space.
