Chapters Well, the small mint pony was not expecting this queston, “Oh, um, I was playing in the woods, the forest just seemed to bend for me. I don’t know much else, it just suddenly appeared when I was there.”
The Queen was thoughtful, thinking over what advice to give the small mare, “While I don’t know how or why you were given that cutie mark, I do believe it will hold great importance later in your life. I would like to explore your obvious magical talent, if I was permitted to, of course.”
“The Queen took me on as her pupil, though, never pushing me too deep into my studies. She was very sweet, as was her husband, King Cosmos. I was encouraged to learn about magic and friendship, to approach a problem from both sides. Once they believed I was ready, they sent me to live in Ponyville, or, the early stages of it.”
Fluttershy held the doll, looking at it carefully, “Did... Did something happen?”
Rose Briar nodded her head, “Back then the Everfree Forest was just starting. Yet it grew fast, invading Ponyville. Many ponies tried to stop it, Pegasi weren’t fast enough, Earth Ponies weren’t strong enough, and Unicorn magic didn’t phase it.”
Fluttershy carried a perplexed look, “That isn’t right... We were able to push it back with Elements of Harmony...”
Rose Briar smirked, “Ah, see back then, the Elements of Harmony didn’t exist yet. No one knew enough about magic to stop it. The princesses thought they did, even though they were only in their younger years, by alicorn standards. They got everypony to safety before rushing in, using their magic. They failed. I was forced to step in and save them, I had to create a spell in that moment.”
Fluttershy raised a hoof, as if she were still a filly in a classroom, “I should have asked earlier, but I didn’t want to interrupt, but, um, who is Queen Galaxia?”
Rose looked at her strangely, “You mean you were never taught who the King and Queen were?” Fluttershy shook her head.
Rose stood up, quickly stretching before walking towards her large bookshelf. She scanned the titles, looking for an old journal. Spotting it, she grabbed it and floated it to Fluttershy, “This was my journal. I should have some pictures of her in here.”
Fluttershy watched Rose Briar, eager to learn more. ‘I wonder what Rose went through... I’ll ask later. ’ She watched Rose sit, but shifted her attention to the book. It was bound by leather and looked old. A name was written on the front in gold, “This journal belongs to Rose Briar. It looks very old, may I open it?” She asked, careful not to touch without permission.
Rose nodded her head at her, which Fluttershy returned. Carefully opening the book she read what was on the first page, “A picture of me and the Princesses, I love having them as friends!” Fluttershy looked at Rose, but noticed that she was to busy staring out a window to notice. In the picture there was a filly mint unicorn next to two young alicorns. “Is-is that you?” She asked.
Rose visibly flinched but answered nonetheless, “It was me... once...” She turned to Fluttershy, motioning for her to give her the book. She did, and Rose carefully flipped the pages, looking for a certain page. When she found it she flipped the book around to face Fluttershy, “This was Queen Galaxia. She was beautiful.”
The picture showed a mint alicorn tackling a taller alicorn. The taller alicorn was a milky white, with her hair pink turning blue. Her face had a suprised, yet amused expression. Underneath it, written in gold was a short sentence, “I tackled the Queen today, we then had a game of tag.”
Fluttershy giggled, quickly covering her mouth. "You can laugh, I don't mind. It was a fun day." Once Fluttershy stopped laughing, she motioned for Rose to continue her story.
The sounds of screams echoed throughout the town of Ponyville. Rose Briar stopped and ran towards the sounds. She skidded to a stop seeing vines wrapping around ponies.
Rose Briar watched wide-eyed as the Princesses dove towards the ever-growing forest. She was frozen in place at the sight of the princesses being grabbed in mid-air. The vines shook them mercilessly, knocking Luna out in the process. Rose looked at her cutie mark and back at the forest before running straight towards the vines. She used her magic to fend off vines, "You want to hurt me, fine, but you don't touch my friends!"
She used her advanced magic to attack vines, freeing trapped ponies, but the vines kept the princesses away from her reach.
Rose shook with anger as her eyes began to glow blue. She was raised into the air by a magic light, it surrounded her, encasing her in blue light. It suddenly exploded, pushing the forest back. When it disapated however, she was different. On her back were two mint wings.
Fluttershy gasped, "Is that how you became an Alicorn? By saving the princesses?" Rose gave her a nod, but said nothing. 'I should talk to Twilight about this....I should ask Rose Briar first.... ' Fluttershy paused before muttering, "Ms. Rose Briar, I was wondering, would you, come back to Ponyville with me?"
Rose Briar turned to the cowering pegasi, "I.... I wouldn't mind that..." she muttered, hiding her head. "But what'll I do with my castle? My home? My wolves?"
Fluttershy gaped at her, "You have wolves?"
Rose simply nodded, "Quincy and Duke, they guard the castle at night."
Rose Briar walked through Ponyville, a cloak firmly on her body, Fluttershy beside her, "Where are we going?" She asked, nervously.
Fluttershy gave her a small smile, "We're going to see Twilight, she'll understand why you tried to destroy Ponyville."
Rose hung her head, nodding slightly. "O-okay..."
As the two walked, Rose Briar got weird looks, some ponies going as far as to try and step on her hood. Fluttershy always reasured the older mare, telling her Twilight would understand. Deep down, Fluttershy doubted her own words, she had seen twilight freak out, frankly she didn't want to see Rose Briar freak out. She had to stay calm.
The two arrived at the castle shortly. Fluttershy knocked shyly, waiting for Spike to open the door. When he did, he stared at Rose Briar oddly, but let her in nonetheless.
"Um, Twilight!" Called out Fluttershy, 'Please don't hurt Rose Briar, Twilight... '
"We're in the library, dear!" Fluttershy gulped,
"That was Rarity, which means everyone else is here too...."
Rose Briar placed a hoof on her shoulder, "You don't have to do this you know."
Fluttershy nodded, "I know, but you deserve it."
They continued on, Rose Briar following the shorter pony. They came to a stop as Fluttershy knocked on the library door softly, "Come on in Fluttershy!" Twilight called out.
Pushing open the door Fluttershy walked in motioning Rose Briar to enter as well. Her odd behavior caught everyone's attention, but they kept quiet. "You can come in. They won't hurt you." She called out. Slowly, a cloaked figure walked in, they seemed to hide behind Fluttershy, even though they were obviously taller than the mare. "Show them who you are, I'll protect you."
The figure slowly lifted their hood, only to be met with five different faces. Rose Briar's eyes naturally gravitated towards Twilight's, but she wished she hadn't. Twilight's eyes were filled with fury. Twilight stood up suddenly and launched herself at Rose.
"How dare you show your face in Ponyville! After all the innocent fillies you hurt, after every innocent life you took, you show your face!" Twilight screamed in Rose Briar's face.
"W-what?"
Twilight used her magic to create chains around Rose Briar, "You hurt them! And I had to stand by and watch!" With every word the chains got tighter, eventually getting to the point where Rose Briar could barely breathe.
"After everything I did, every piece of my soul I sacrificed, this is how I'm treated!" Rose Briar boomed, her voice echoing through the castle halls.
"You didn't sacrifice anything besides innocent ponies!"
It was a screaming match between Twilight and Rose Briar, more of the former though. "You come back to Ponyville, trick my friends, and hurt everyone I love! You're not worthy of your wings! You're worthy of being trapped in stone!"
A deadly silence fell upon the castle, as Rose Briar looked at Twilight with a rage fueled expression.
Rose Briar's magic wrapped around the chains, snapping them into pieces, "You dare say I don't deserve my wings?! You dare try to claim I haven't sacrificed anything?!" As she spoke she was walking up to Twilight, who was holding her head in pain, "If it weren't for me Ponyville wouldn't exist!"
Still in pain, Twilight looked at the ash colored mare, "Ponyville wouldn't exist? It was made before you were even thought of!" She shouted back, eyes ablaze.
While the two mares fought, Fluttershy had a look of worry on her face, "What's going on sugarcube?"
Looking at Applejack, Fluttershy quickly explained, "That alicorn I brought? That's Rose Briar, she was around when the princesses were born. It's a long story, but if we don't seperate them, somepony could get seriously hurt."
The remaining mane 6 looked at eachother, "Well, what can we do?"
"I think I have an idea." Startled, the mane 6 who weren't busy turned, seeing Starlight Glimmer, who carried a book with her magic. "I found a legend about an old mare, who fits the description of Rose Briar over there, maybe if we can get all the princesses here, they can stop this fight." Pausing, Starlight looked at the two mares, who had began using spells to battle.
"It's worth a shot." Spoke Rarity, who had began to stress knit, "Oops, sorry." She sheepishly tucked her knitting on top of a bookshelf.
"But how will we get them from their castles? We don't have the magic Twilight does. I'm only so fast, and Rarity's only so strong." Spoke Raindbow dash, voicing everypony's thoughts.
"Wait, Starlight, don't you and Twilight know how to teleport? I betcha' you could teleport them all here if you an' Rarity tried."
Rarity looked at Starlight, "It's worth a shot. Starlight?"
"We'll try... Do you think you could distract them?" At the words distract them, Applejack pulled out her rope.
"Ah' think we can handle um' now you better work quickly."
As the mane 6 started trying to distract Rose Briar and Twilight, it was a shock for Cadence and Shining Armour to suddenly be interupted.
"Princess Cadence, we need your help. Twilight and another alicorn are locked in magical combat, the others are trying to stall, but it won't last long." As Rarity explained briefly, Starlight was stumbling slightly, but shook her head to clear it.
"Another alicorn? Are you sure?" Questioned Cadence. Rarity nodded her head. "So you need me to help stop a potentially dangerous magic battle?" Rarity nodded again, "I'll do it, but you'll need Celestia's help too."
"She's out next stop. Come on Rarity"
All Celestia wanted was a calm, peaceful day with her sister, but fate had other ideas as it seemed. "Princess celestia, Princess Luna!" Both princesses looked up from their game of chess.
"Hello Cadence, Starlight, Rarity, what brings you here?" She asked, hiding her slight annoyance.
"Twilight's fighting another alicorn!"
Time stopped for Celestia, she knew few alicorns, but those she did either died or were turned to stone. "How bad is it? I'm sure if it is another alicorn they would be friendly to another of their kind?"
Cadence shook her head, "From what they told me, it was Twilight who initiated the attack. The other girls are distracting them but, we're not sure how long."
"This is troublesome sister, is it not? Why would Twilight feel the urge to threaten somepony?" Celestia nodded at her sisters words,
"It is worrisome... Very well, Luna and myself shall join you."
Twilight and Rose Briar were still fighting, the spells becoming more and more dangerous, "Give up villian! Maybe Celestia will go easy on you!"
Rose Briar sneered, "I would rather rot in a cell then to give up!"
The two magical beams of light that the alicorns emitted collided, black against purple, purple against black. Twilight struggled to match the others power, "I will not surrender!"
With a loud boom Rose Briar was thrown through a wall, into an unsuspecting crowd of ponies. She skidded across the stone, scratches littering her skin. Wiping her mouth with her hoof she asked, "Is that all you've got? Predictable."
This was not what Celestia expected, not even close. The once friendly and bubbly mare she knew had become cold and harsh.
"Enough!" Her loud voice boomed, stilling the crowds and the two fighting ponies.
"Would you like to explain why I have arrived to find both of you half dead?!"
Author's Note
Have this crappy chapter. I know, I'm sorry
Rose Briar sat at her wooden table, a small tea set ready. One of the tea cups was lifted into the air by a swirl of black magic. It was placed infront of a familiar yellow pegasus, "So, Fluttershy, tell me, why did you agree to see me?" It was a simple question, but it was one Rose Briar's mind couldn't explain.
Fluttershy lifted up the cup to her mouth, sipping it, "Well, I guess I was curious. You said this would be a peace like meeting, so, I took you up on your offer." Rose nodded her head, also sipping her tea, she sighed before looking at Fluttershy, her black eyes bore into Fluttershy's blue ones.
"It started a long time ago, when there was a Queen."
A young mint unicorn observed the large garden around her. Her class was taking a tour of the royal gardens, something very few ponies were permitted to see. Her class was being shown around by the queen herself, Queen Galaxia.
Rose Briar was excited, she was going to try to talk to her. As the class walked through the large garden, Rose Briar snuck to the front of the class, walking beside the queen herself. Of course, their teacher, Ms. Dae, was distracted. "Ms. Queen Galaxia?"
Queen Galaxia turned to face the small unicorn, "Hm? Yes small one?" "I-I was wondering... Can-can I draw you? I wanted to ask, I've been told I am very good artist, but I would love to try drawing you and Mr. King Cosmos..."
The Queen had a thoughtful look on her face, "I will permit it. Although, I do wonder, how did you get your cutie mark?"
"Back then I had a forest cutie mark, but it wasn't an ordinary forest. It was vines wrapped around three small cutie marks, Princess Luna's cutie mark, Princess Celestia's cutie mark, and Princess Twilight's cutie mark. It was odd, I didn't know back then, but I was destined to become the bad guy."
Fluttershy gave her a suprised look, "I don't think you're the bad guy! I think you're just scared..." Fluttershy turned her head towards two handmade Luna and Celestia dolls, "I was wondering, what were those made for?" Rose turned back to Fluttershy. Setting her cup down, Rose used her magic to lift the two dolls.
Gently laying Celestia in front of Fluttershy she whispered, "You can keep her." She sighed, "I made them for company. I don't blame them for what happened to me, but, quite frankly I'm scared to see them again. Luna would probably be excited to see me, but Celestia?... Probably not..."
