'Its funny really, the pony you like is told you like them, then is told you don't, and they are still [strike]akward[/strike] Awkward....'
"Rarity! " Sweetie shrieked
"Sweetie Honestly can you be any louder?" She said
"Did you spell check my diary again?" Sweetie said, looking at Rarity with daggers shooting out her eyes.
"No?" Rarity said with an obvious look of guilt on her face.
"Rarity! " Sweetie yelled.
"But Sweetie, a diary is no good if the person reading it can't understand it!" Rarity said
"But You're not supposed to read it, you're only supposed to read it when I tell you to!"
"I..uh...." Rarity said looking for an answer.
"Wait, how did you even get into it, I have the only key....." Sweetie said
Rarity's face turned red, she had managed to get in using her own diary key, it had fit the lock perfectly.
"You left it open" Rarity lied through her teeth.
"Oh....I.....oh....well, Close It Next Time! " Sweetie Said
'Thank Celestia she bought it' Rarity thought to herself.
Just then Pinkie Pie burst through the door and started singing.
"Pinkie what on earth are you doing?" Rarity stopped her, shoving a hoof in Pinkies mouth.
"Oh, this seemed like a perfect place to put the theme song!" Pinkie said
"Theme, what?" Rarity said
And with that, Pinkie galloped out the door.
'That's pinkie for you' Both sisters thought in unison.

Sweetie Belle sat on Rarity's bed, again spending the week at the Boutique. Her diary was open and she was writing more entries. It really was a great gift from Scootaloo and Apple Bloom, the first entry into the diary was a copy of the letter to Celestia they wrote.
Dear Diary, Its been a month now and Shadow Fire still won’t talk to me, its really awkward (Yes Rarity I Spelled It Right This Time) around him now, its like, its like he wants me gone.
Sweetie was writing in her diary, her day had been extremely taxing on her. First she was bullied by Diamond Tiara and Silver spoon, what else is new, And then she came face to face with Shadow Fire only to be given an awkward look as he walked away.
'Some things never get better I guess' Sweetie thought to herself.
There was a knock on the door.
"Sweetie! Time to go to bed" Rarity said before entering the room.
"Fine" Sweetie said with a huff.
And as usual she fell asleep as soon as she crawled into bed not realizing how tired she was.

The next morning was typical, Sweetie managed her mane and got her school supplies together. The walk to the school yard was also uneventful as any other day since the diary incident.
"Hey Sweetie Belle!" Scootaloo said as Sweetie got to the school yard.
"Hi Scootaloo" Sweetie said, she was depressed, or a close equivalent.
"What’s the matter?" Scootaloo asked
"Its just that everytime I try to talk to Shadow Fire he runs away from me, and I don't know what to do, Scootaloo you have no idea what it's like to be in love and have the pony you love not want anything to do with you." Sweetie said, she started thinking about things to herself.
"I was in love once" Scootaloo said
There was a long pause.
"I Said I Was In Love Once " Scootaloo yelled into Sweetie's ear.
"Oh, what was that Scootaloo" Sweetie said, her eyes locked on Shadow Fire as he walked into the schoolyard, he was a pegasus pony, he had a grey coat and a dark orange and red mane, he even had a cutie mark, 2 wings symbolizing flight, which was something considering he was a year younger than Sweetie. Sweetie was locked in her trance.
"Oh never mind" Scootaloo said before walking away.
"Ok, you do that" Sweetie said before falling on her face after not noticing her fore hooves were balanced on Scootaloo's saddle bag which she just took with her.
Sweetie just stood back up and stared awkwardly at Shadow Fire, who hadn't even noticed her.
"Uh, Sweetie Belle? the school bell just rang" Apple Bloom said
No response.
"Sweetie?" Apple Bloom said before Sweetie felt a hoof collide with her head.
"Ow, what did you do that for?" Sweetie said rubbing her now sore head.
"Yer gonna be late for class" Apple Bloom said.
"Oh...uh, yeah lets go" Sweetie said following her friend, thoughts of Shadow Fire still lingering in her mind.
She got into the classroom and sat down in between Scootaloo and Apple Bloom near the back of the classroom, she got out her notebook and started writing something. What was odd was it was not notes she was writing, but a doodle of her and Shadow sitting together at a nice picnic.
"Sweetie Belle, stop doodling in your notebook and take notes" Cheerilee said.
"Oh, whath, I'hm Sowry Msh Cheerilee" Sweetie said through the pencil that was in her mouth, she spit it out onto the desk in front of her.
"Good now, can anypony tell me.." Whatever Cheerilee said next trailed off, Sweetie was staring at Shadow Fire, this time he noticed and gave her a weird look. She did not care, she just wanted to talk to him.
Several hours passed and she was still staring at Shadow Fire, by now being more discreet about it, then he got up and walked over to her.
"Uh, Sweetie Belle? You do know school is over right? you haven't moved since the bell rang, ten minutes ago." He said
"Yes I will!" Sweetie said, instantly snapping out of her train of thought, in her mind he had just asked her to go on a date with him.
"Uh, what?" he said
"Err, uh, yeah I know, I was just uh, waiting to ask Cheerilee a question." Sweetie said
"Oh, ok then" Shadow said, he had an awkward look on his face, he knew she liked him, even before he was told, but now there was something different, he felt strange around her, his hooves got sweaty and he got abnormally nervous. but he just put it off to be the weather or allergies.
Cheerilee walked over to Sweetie, "You wanted to ask me a question?" She said
"I, uh, what now?" Sweetie said
Cheerilee started smiling, she knew exactly what was going on, after all, she was a young filly in love once to.
"You can go now Sweetie" She said
"Thank you miss Cheerilee" Sweetie said leaving the school to catch up with her friends.

'My diary is missing, somepony is reading it, I just know it, my life is over, again' Sweetie thought to herself, she had just looked under Rarity's bed for her diary when she found nothing.
"Rarity! " Sweetie screeched.
"Sweetie, again with the yelling, every time-" Rarity stopped talking, she was looking right at Sweetie who was looking for her diary.
"Uh, you uh, you looking for your diary?" Rarity asked
"Its gone! I don't know where it went! My life is over! " Sweetie said, the issues with her diary were becoming repetitive.
"Its not gone Sweetie, I cleaned under my bed earlier and forgot to put it back, is all" Rarity said, she was lying, in truth she did find it under the bed cleaning but she decided to spell check it again after forgetting Sweetie was coming over that day. With all of Rarity's obsessions, reading Sweetie's diary had to be one of the biggest and grammatical errors just drove her nuts.
Rarity pulled the diary out of her mane and gave it to Sweetie, She instantly snatched it out of Rarity's hooves and started reading it.
"Rarity, have you been spell checking my diary again ?" Sweetie said suspicious of the new hoof writing in her diary.
"No-" Rarity said, being cut off once again.
"Rarity! it’s your hoof writing" Sweetie said
"Um....Oh this letter came in the mail today from your school, I thought you might be interested in it?" Rarity said desperately trying to change the subject as she picked up the letter with her magic and dropped it in front of Sweetie.
She started reading the letter.
"Ponyville School is proud to announce its Summer Sun Celebration School Dance" Sweetie read out loud.
Rarity looked at Sweetie, obviously pleased her sister had forgotten about the diary.
"Students are encouraged to bring a date..." Sweetie said before taking a long pause.
'I wonder if Shadow Fire-' Sweetie was snapped out of her train of thought when Rarity spoke.
"You should ask that little colt you keep writing about to go with you" Rarity said instantly regretting bringing up the diary entries again.
"How do you know about that!?" Sweetie snapped.
"Um....I-" Rarity again was cut off, this time when there was a knock on the door.
'Thank Celestia' Rarity thought to herself.
"This is not over" Sweetie said in a commanding tone before walking out of the room to get the door. Unsurprisingly it was Scootaloo and Apple Bloom, but Applejack and Rainbow Dash were also there.
Rarity soon met them at the door. "Hello, please come in, what can I do for you four today?" Rarity asked.
"Well, there is that school dance for the fillies and colts coming up and Apple Bloom wants you to design her ah dress" Applejack said.
"Oh, that sounds like fun, and Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo, what brings you here?" Rarity said, Scootaloo got shy and backed up slightly blushing and dragging her front left hoof in circles on the floor.
"Scoots here wanted to go to and she also wants you to design her dress, she asked me to help her pick one" Rainbow leaned in closer to Rarity and started to whisper "She doesn't want to be all girly about it and she’s embarrassed about it, you know how she is."
"I See, well, Apple Bloom I am sure I can make you a wonderful dress, and Scootaloo, I am sure we can get you into a nice dress as well." Rarity said
Apple Bloom responded without hesitation "Well thank'ya kindly Rarity"
Scootaloo hesitated a bit, still staring at the ground and blushing. "Yeah, uh, thanks"
Sweetie Belle interrupted. "Do you guys wanna go crusading today?"
"Sweetie they have to stay here to be fitted for their dresses, why don't I make you a nice dress too and you can all go to the dance together and crusade there, the dance is only a few days away after all." Rarity suggested.
"okayyyyyyyy" Sweetie Belle said with a sigh.
"Great! It's settled then! let's go design some dresses!" Rarity said, she was overly excited for three small dresses.

About three hours later, and several hundred denials, the three fillies finally had dresses that they liked, though not all of them openly showed it.
"Wow Sweetie your dress is really pretty!" Apple Bloom said
"So is yours Apple Bloom, well Scootaloo, what do you think?" Sweetie asked.
"Its cool, I guess, for being all frilly and stuff" Scootaloo said, blushing that she was now wearing a dress, not something she would normally willingly partake in. She stepped out from behind the changing screen and was wearing her dress.
"Wow Scootaloo your dress is just amazing!" Sweetie Belle said
"Sure....uh, thanks.." Scootaloo said, still obviously embarrassed for partaking in such a frilly activity.
"Ha-ha squirt you wearing a dress has to be the funniest thing I've ever seen!" Rainbow Dash said bursting out into laughter, Scootaloo blushed a very deep red.
"Rainbow! " Applejack commanded before her hoof came into contact with Rainbow's shoulder.
"Oh relax Applejack, I'm just teasing" Rainbow said regaining her composure. "You look nice Scootaloo" She said with a more composed tone.
"Thanks" Scootaloo said looking up at Rainbow, her blush slightly disappeared.
"Ok, well give me back the dresses so I can store them somewhere clean until the dance." Rarity said
A few minutes later after returning the dresses to Rarity the three Crusaders left the room leaving the three mares to talking.

"Ok Apple Bloom it’s time to go" Applejack said
"Yeah Scootaloo we should probably go to, its getting late." Rainbow said.
"Awwwwwwww, do we have to?" Both Scootaloo and Apple Bloom said in unison.
"Why don't you guys just sleep over!" Sweetie suggested.
"I suppose they could..." Rarity trailed off.
"Well Scootaloo was staying with me while her parents are on vacation, so I guess its ok with me" Rainbow said
"Apple Bloom can stay to if its ok with you Rarity" Applejack said
"Oh pleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleaseplease" Sweetie Belle said with one breath of air, she sucked in another breath of air only to receive a white hoof in her mouth.
"Ok, you can have a sleepover" Rarity said, Sweetie removed Rarity's hoof from her mouth.
"Yay!" They yelled in unison causing the three older ponies to cringe at the loud noise.
It was going to be a very, very long night for Rarity, and probably a sleepless one as well.

It was still several days until the dance, Sweetie and the other crusaders were still getting ready, you know how fillies and mares are, but on the other side of the story Shadow Fire stood unaware of events that would change several things in his life.
"Someone has a secret admirer" Shadow Bolt teased as his younger brother Shadow Fire, arrived on the cloud.
"I don't care Bolt" Shadow Fire said as he rolled his eyes, Shadow Bolt loved to tease Fire.
"Oh come now, I know you care" Bolt said. The two colts were sitting on a cloud high in the sky, it was something they often did together.
"Nope, Never have never will" Fire said.
"You mean to tell me you've never had a crush on a filly before?" Bolt asked, he knew the answer.
"Nope" Fire said as he arranged a small part of the cloud into a bed like form and he laid down on it exhausted from the flight up to the cloud. Bolt just chucked to himself, he knew Fire was a good flier, but he was still just a young colt and tired easy.
"You've never been nervous around a filly before? butterflies in your stomach, getting all sweaty, unable to grip things in your hooves or wings?" Bolt said, he knew he had Fire with that one.
"Well..." Fire trailed off, he was thinking of the other day when he talked to Sweetie Belle. "There was this one filly, but....I don't think-" Fire was cut off
"Aww, little Fire has his first crush" Bolt teased.
"Shut Up Bolt! " Fire snapped in response.
"Oh relax, I am just teasing, so who is the lucky little filly?" Bolt said.
"I don't want to talk about it" He said, Bolt let out a sigh as he heard this, he really wanted to know.
"Oh come on, I'll tell you who your secret admirer is if you tell me who you have a crush on." Bolt said, he was trying desperately to get his little brother to tell him who he liked, even though he already knew the answer.
"Well..." Fire paused he was unsure about telling his brother, he knew Bolt would not tell anyone but he would surely get teased to no end. "She, Swee...." Fire trailed off, much like Fluttershy would.
"Who?" Bolt said, now he was getting irritated.
"Sweetie Belle" Fire said, he buried his face into the cloud to hide his blushing face.
"Oh, well I have a sneaking suspicion that she might like you to" Bolt said
Fire's head immediately popped out of the clouds and he glared at his brother. "Don't joke about that kind of thing, I know its not true, Scootaloo and Apple Bloom said it was a lie" Fire said.
"Oh, it wasn't that, no, a little, 'magic' told me" He said.

Two Days Earlier.
"Honestly I don't know what to do anymore, she is letting her crush control her life" Rarity said, sipping her tea.
"Well your lucky you talk to your sister, my little brother doesn't talk to me about such things" Bolt said, he looked down at the table. "Its really nice to see you again, its been so long"
"Bolt, darling, it has only been three days since I have last seen you." Rarity said
"I know, but I can't take a day without seeing my mare friend." He said
'And you though Sweetie was the only one getting romance in this story?' Pinkie Pie thought breaking all logic and undoubtedly having several scientists keel over from this thought.
Rarity nuzzled Bolt, they had been dating for two weeks now, though Rarity would not have Sweetie know about it.
"So who does your sister have a crush on?" Bolt asked
"Your brother" Rarity replied.
"Little Fire?" Bolt said, he started to smile, the idea of his brother dating was amusing to him, because he already knew Fire liked Sweetie, he was a terrible liar.
"Yes" Rarity said
"Well Fire likes Sweetie, but neither of them would let the other know." Bolt said
"I'll suggest Sweetie asks Fire to the dance, you should do the same." Rarity said
"You know Fire, there is the Summer Sun Celebration Dance at your school, you should ask Sweetie to go with you" Bolt said
"I don't know" Fire said
"You'll never know if you don't try" Bolt said.
And with that response, Fire got up and started flying to the Boutique, unaware that he was about to do something that would change the next few days of his life for the better, or the worse.

'An Open Heart'

Flying closer and closer, faster and faster to Rarity's boutique, Shadow Fire, his stomach had butterflies, his hooves were sweaty, he was shaking, why? He was nervous, he could not understand why he was so nervous, 'It's only Sweetie Belle' He thought to himself. 'It's only, Sweetie.....' His thoughts trailed off, it finally hit him, the little colt was in love, in love with Sweetie Belle, he would have denied it before but now... Now he was sure, it was the only logical explanation, and he had to tell her, he had to tell her how he felt.
There was a knock on the door, Rarity opened it to see nothing, empty space, she closed the door and returned to her work after mumbling to herself, something along the lines of "Honestly those hooligans, when will they stop ding dong dashing..."
Shadow Fire sat in a bush next to the door, he was frightened, he knocked but at the last second, failure, he could not do it, it was just too hard. 'Why is it so hard, it's just Sweetie Belle' He thought 'It's just....just the filly I love.' Filled with a new sense of courage he got out of the bush and knocked on the door again.
"If this is the hooligans again I am calling the guard" Rarity said through the door as she opened it. She looked down to see Shadow Fire, blushing, incredibly nervous. Rarity smiled quickly before hiding that she knew exactly why he was here.
"Oh Shadow darling what can I do for you?" She asked.
"Is....is Sweetie Belle here?" He said, he was so nervous he felt like he was going to pass out,
"Sweetie, can you come down here! " Rarity yelled up the stairs behind her.
'D-does he not, he doesn't like me...' Sweetie thought to herself, she was still on the stairs, her eyes started to swell up with tears, Rarity looked at her, instantly understanding what was going through Sweetie's mind.
'Oh Celestia, why did this just happen, this has turned into a mess' Rarity thought to herself.
"H-he H-h-hates m-me!" She said through her tears. Rarity just wrapped her fore hooves around her sister.
"Oh Sweetie, it's not you, you can't bla-" Rarity was cut off.
"It's always me, don't you understand, the only colt that I have ever loved doesn't want any time of Celestia's day with me." She sobbed more, her world came crashing down just because of one misinterpreted moment.
Rarity opened her mouth like she was going to say something, but then closed it and just continued hugging her sister.
"Stupid, Stupid, Stupid! " Shadow Fire said to himself, he kicked the cloud floor of his room. "Why do I have to be so stupid!? " He yelled as he fell backwards onto his bed, it was in this moment he realized that something was extremely wrong, he was thinking about what happened and didn't pay much attention to one important little detail, Sweetie's feelings, he felt awful. Now, not only did he not have Sweetie, but he potentially ruined his relationship with her forever, the sight of her eyes tearing up. It had not registered in his mind until now, but now, was far, far too late.
After the incident, the few days before the dance passed slowly, but life went about as normally as it could for the colt and filly. They avoided each other as best as they could, neither of them wanted to upset the other.
"You can't be upset about it, what happened happened" Shadow Bolt said
"But its ruined! " Sweetie Belle yelled.
"You can't let your feelings ruin your life." Rarity said.
"But its totally my fault!" Shadow Fire said.
"You can't blame yourself" Both Rarity and Bolt said at the same time.
"But I ruined it with Sweetie! "
"But I ruined it with Shadow! "
Sweetie was sitting on the bed in Rarity's room with her, at the same time Shadow Fire and Shadow Bolt were up on a cloud high in the sky. Neither of them knew it, but both Sweetie and Fire were having the same conversation with their older siblings. The dance was that night, and only Rarity and Bolt could save the relationship between Sweetie and Fire.

"I just don't understand, its a disaster" Bolt said to Rarity.
"It is truly awful that both of them feel this way, I really wish there was something we could..." Rarity's voice trailed off.
"Ideeeaaaa! Rarity said in a loud almost sing song voice.
Later that day...
"But Rarity...I don't want to go." Sweetie moaned at her sister who was still trying to get her to go to the dance.
"Oh Sweetie I know that's a lie" Rarity said
"No its the truth, I don't want to go to the stupid dance anymore" Sweetie said.
"How in Equestria did you convince yourself of that?" Rarity asked.
"The same way you thought a giant rock was a diamond" Sweetie mused at her own humor.
"Remind me to make Rainbow Dash’s Gala dress as frilly as possible this year, but anyway, that's not really important now, Just go to the dance, please, for me?" Rarity said putting the biggest puppy dog eyes on she could.
"Fine" Sweetie said again aggravated at her sisters persistence.
"Great!" Rarity said with far too much enthusiasm. "I'll even walk you, I'll go get your dress!" Rarity said.
Back at the Shadow's cloud house the two brothers were sitting in their shared room.
"Bro, just go to the dance, you won't regret it I promise." Bolt said to Fire.
"If I go I will only see Sweetie and she won't talk to me." Fire said.
"Go, I'll even fly there with you, will that make you feel better?" Bolt said.
"I feel bad enough as it is I don't want to ruin Sweetie's night!" Fire said, his voice turning into a
"Come on, do it for me? I'll owe you" Bolt said, he knew he would get his little brother with that one, he knew Fire would want him to do something.
"Sure, I guess, But if it gets all awkward I am blaming you." Fire said.
It was getting dark out, Sweetie and Rarity walked side by side closer to the school yard.
"Sweetie you look lovely, I am so glad you let me do your mane." Rarity said trying to strike up conversation with her upset sibling.
"Don't even talk." Sweetie said.
"But I ju-"
"No words"
"But if yo-"
"Nope" Sweetie said with a shake of her head.
As they neared the school yard Sweetie's frown turned into a slight smile, it was beautiful, the decorations, the lights, Even Princess Celestia herself was there, she was going to rise the sun from the school for all of the little colts and fillies to watch, for many of them it was their first Summer Sun Celebration as most of them were unable to stay up all night.
"Look at these lights and decorations! Fire I am telling you you’re going to have a great time" Bolt said to his younger brother, they flew side by side inching ever closer to the school yard.
"And look down there, Princess Celestia herself is there" Bolt said trying to cheer up his brother.
'Maybe the night wouldn't be so bad after all' Both Sweetie and Fire thought in unison. "Oh Sweetie can we stop here, I need to take a rest, all of this walking is exhausting!" Rarity said
"Rarity, you walk me to school all the time, you never get tired I don't-" Sweetie was cut off.
"Hey Fire can we land for a second, I need to take a break" Bolt said landing.
"Sure, but your-" Fire was cut off as he landed.
Staring into each others eyes from a moderate distance was Sweetie Belle and Shadow Fire, they were far enough away from the school were the music could be heard but not much else. It was an open field as the school resided on a hill on the edge of Ponyville. Not a light shined bright enough to dim Luna's wonderful moon that shone down on them.
Both Sweetie and Fire looked back at their respective siblings, each receiving an approving wink from them.
Sweetie and Fire inched closer to each other, Rarity and Bolt kept their distance.
Sweetie looked at the ground and kicked her hoof in the dirt, she was blushing a very large amount. Fire just looked at her and put an awkward yet welcoming face on that seemed to make Sweetie more comfortable.
"H-hi" Sweetie said softly.
"Hi" Fire said.
"I uh, I'm sorry I-" Sweetie was cut off.
"Don't, it was me really" Fire said.
A slow song started to play in the distance at the dance, this caught Fire's attention, out of the corner of his eye he saw Bolt land next to Rarity and start dancing with her.
'I knew he would try something like this' Fire thought to himself.
"Want to ah, want to um, wanna dance?" Fire said, the words seemed hard at first and he was anxious for a response, that was the longest fifteen seconds he had ever had to go through in his life.
"Sure." Sweetie said, and no sooner had they started dancing to the music, it was truly a cute sight, the two brought together after thinking neither of them liked the other, it was truly amazing that after going through so much they managed to look so well together.
"I, I thought you didn't like me?" Sweetie asked as they danced, she looked down at the ground, still a bit embarrassed.
"I thought that you, didn't like, me." He said, they stopped dancing and just looked into each others eyes wondering what went wrong, why they ended up thinking that, but it did not matter. They were together at last, and that's all that truly mattered in the moment. That cute romantic moment lasted for a few seconds before Fire leaned in and kissed Sweetie, receiving a shocked look in her eyes at the start but met no resistance.
And the night progressed on, the two danced under the stars and Luna's bright moon that would eventually give way to Celestia's stunning sun, and begin the best thing that ever happened to either of them, the bond that they now shared.
