Unveiling The Godly Past

The Start of a Special Day

The bright sun shone through the window blinds as the birds began to chirp for the morning’s coming. I got up from my bed moaning as I stretched my body until I heard satisfying cracks. My wings extended and retracted softly, hearing a resounding crack.

There really is nothing better than an early morning routine!

My jolly attitude had me cleaning and tidying my room as well as feeding the outside birds seeds I had stored for Fluttershy’s birds.

Once that was finished, I came to the kitchen and cooked a rather delightful meal. A bowl of oatmeal with a side of heated waffles from last night’s takeout. I wouldn’t call myself a chef, considering that I can’t cook, but anything that I get is gratitude.

A smile splattered on my face as I looked at myself in the mirror before I got ready for the morning shower. My physique isn’t the best, but good enough to at least attract some mares. I got out wearing a purple long-sleeved shirt along with basic black pants. I dawned a black jacket as well since the season is closing in to winter and weather ponies should be doing their jobs setting it up.

To which, reminds me, today was Rainbow’s birthday! I’ve always adored and admired Rainbow since I came Ponyville. It was love at first sight and grew even more attached when I was introduced by Twilight Sparkle herself.

I can’t wait to give her an autographed Wonderbolts costume along with an autographed Daring Do book with a map to find the secret treasure, which I hope is something rewarding, because Rainbow always loves rewards after a hard-earned task.

I opened the front door and was greeted by a vast number of early ponies scattered around the place doing about their daily business. I closed the door behind me and locked it before putting it inside one of my pockets.

I walked across the town taking my early morning stroll rather lightly before getting ready for Rainbow’s party surprise. I waved at the ponies and received the same with a warm and cheerful smile.

I can tell today is going to be a blast!

I walked over to Sugar Cube Corner and already saw Pinkie getting ready for one of the biggest party later tonight. Hopefully, it turns out well. She wore a pink skirt that was covered by a white apron that was tainted with cream and red paste.

I greeted Pinkie, “Hey Pinkie! How’s the preparations going?” I asked.

She looked at me and smiled from ear to ear, “Hey Miracle! Yeah, I just finished another batch of red velvet cake! I know she is going to LOVE this!” Pinkie bounced up and down holding a pair of frostings on each of her hand, squeezing them and somehow perfectly placing them neatly on the cake.

It was random but nothing to expect from Pinkie.

“You do your thing and good luck! Let’s make sure Rainbow gets the best surprise in her life!” I said in excitement.

“Of course, silly! I always bring the best surprise parties for any kind of pony!” Pinkie said before going back to her work.

I walked out of Sugar Cube Corner with a bottle of mango juice with a hint of chocolate balls submerged at the bottom. I’m not sure why but it tastes so damn good.

I looked at the town clock seated in the middle of the streets right between the Ponyville filly school and Fluttershy’s cottage. It was 9:23, lots and lots of free time before the main event later this evening.

Along walking the roads of Ponyville, different plans and thoughts crossed my mind as to what to do. Should I get her more presents? Should I help out Pinkie? Maybe I should get an outfit to look fancy in front of her?

My daydreaming mind was abruptly interrupted by the calling of my name. I quickly shook my head and turned around to find who called me. My eyes then landed on a tiny green dragon with purple scales waving at me with a smile. He stood outside of Twilight’s tree castle.

“Hey buddy, didn’t know you’d be awake til’ later,” I said as I walked towards him.

“Well, since today’s day is somewhat special to Twilight and her friends, I was tasked to do some of the preparations while Twilight goes out shopping for the rest of the stuff.” He explained.

“Is that so? Mind if I help out for a bit then?” I asked.

“Hold on, you know who’s the special somepony today right?” Spike asked speculating that I didn’t know.

“Of course, its Rainbows!” I said.

“Well, better get decorating because the party is going to be held somewhere in the halls! I don’t want Twilight mad now do I?” Spike raised a brow with a smirk.

“No, you don’t.” I chuckled.

Before we both got to work, I suggested an idea that would’ve been great for a pony like Rainbow.

“Hey Spike,” I called him.

He turned around with a confused look.

“What’s up?” He asked.

“How about we set up the party outside. I mean, it has a bigger space for most of the townsfolks, wide enough area for most of the gifts, and most of all tonight was going to be Luna’s brightest moon yet! I’m sure Rainbow will enjoy it!” I spoke with confidence.

He placed his hand on his chin, thinking of the idea before finally smiling, “Hey, that’s a pretty good idea! We do have a space somewhere in the side of town next to the school. That should be a good place don’t ya think?”

“Hell yeah! Now c’mon, we gotta go ask for permission and maybe some help. Don’t forget to leave Twilight a note of the sudden change, she might be shocked and surprised at first but can’t go wrong that this is the best idea yet!”

Spike nodded and he wrote a note on a scroll before putting it in front of the door. He came to my side with a determined look.

“Alright, let’s get down to business!” I shouted with determination.

We got the plan going for us. With the help of some builder ponies and permission from the school, we were able to use the biggest free section of Ponyville. Gladly, Rarity came by with Rainbow and upon looking at this, tried to avert Rainbow’s eyes to avoid the surprise. She quickly led her away from the ongoing construction.

I mostly coordinated the whole thing and gave a brief outline as to what the whole thing should look like. About fifteen builder ponies agreed and within an hour or so, finished building a section for gifts, a neatly rainbow-colored throne, two giant Rainbow Dash balloons, table for food, and lastly, a DJ stage for the music.

Twilight came by later and was happy and relief to have set the party somewhere besides her castle. It would be tiring to clean up the entire mess and the probability of somepony breaking an ornament is pretty high considering that strong cider will be provided by Applejack.

I checked on the time and noticed that about roughly 8 hours has passed since we started, making that 5:00 in the evening, thirty minutes before the Rainbow’s birthday party starts. I signaled everyone to have a break and make sure to look ready for Rainbow’s party. They agreed as some suggested to take a simple shower, others got food, and the rest told the townsfolks about the new location.

With a satisfied sigh, I told Spike that I would take a quick shower and dress as casual as I can. He nodded and will do the same. I headed back home without a moment’s notice and hopped into the shower to clean myself off the sweat I’ve gained throughout a day’s worth of work.

I got out looking completely new and fresh. I dried myself off with a towel clothed myself with a simple V necked white long-sleeved shirt along with some blue jeans. I moved to the mirror and styled my black hair. I quickly packaged my presents for Rainbow and placed them in one bag.

With a smile, I spoke to myself, “Let’s go have the best night of your life! Confess to Rainbow and if she does reject you, be cool with it yeah?”

Suddenly, Spike’s voice echoed throughout my living room, “Miracle? Is that you talking to yourself?”

“Y-Yeah, it’s me! I mean, no, I didn’t talk to myself!” I exclaimed.

“Well, the party is going to start soon, you coming?” He asked.

“Yeah, I’ll be there right now.” I grabbed my things and met Spike sitting in my living room. He looked at me with a smile as he stood up, showing his attire for the night. A black tuxedo with a rose in his front pocket.

“Woah, your looking pretty swell bro!” He came to me and inspected my entire getup.

“You look pretty cool too. You getting Rarity on your side tonight?” I asked lightly tapping his sides with my elbow.

“W-What!? N-No! I’m just… Getting to know her better…” He said looking down, blushing profusely.

I chuckled, “Don’t worry about it, bro. I’ll be by your side even if you do get rejected.” I reassured.

“Which reminds me, are you gonna try get Rainbow tonight?” Spike looked up to me with a raised brow and smirk.

“Heh, I’ll try my luck tonight. If that doesn’t go well, I’ll need to try move on.” I chuckled once more.

Spike deadpanned, “You know, you’ve said that like hundreds of times without actually doing it.”

“H-Hey! It’s not that easy you know!” I exclaimed.

“Yeah, yeah. I’m with you on that.” He headed for the door, “C’mon, don’t want to be late now do we?”

“No, we don’t.” I smiled.

While walking, we talked about what we got for Rainbow. In the middle of our sweet conversation, I spotted dandelion, a flower Rainbow admired for its simplicity.

“Spike, go ahead first. I wanna take these flowers for her.” I kneeled and began grabbing a few.

“Sure, I’ll leave you to your thoughts on Rainbow when you pick those flowers.” Spike chuckled as he went first to the party.

I grabbed three dandelion flowers and stuck them on both presents and unto the big bag that held those two presents. I smiled as this was the most perfect gift anyone could give her.

Suddenly, a familiar voice echoed through the street corners. A voice I was happy to hear, accompanied by another voice. I walked to the voices and saw Rarity and Rainbow talking to each other. I was about to come in and give them both a cringy but funny entrance until I heard my name being spoken out by one of them.

“Hey, are you still going to continue dumping Miracle?” Rarity asked.

“Well, duh! Of course! He is nothing but a lousy annoyance who thinks he is part of a group!” Rainbow dash replied.

“Well, I don’t think I can say no to that.” Rarity chuckled.

What was I hearing? Did they really think of me like that? As an annoyance? Before I could make any more judgements, they continued to talk.

“I mean, don’t get me wrong. He is a good guy with a good heart who likes to help anypony. But this kind of passion for help does not sit well with his clumsiness. Remember when he burnt down your carousel boutique! You were fuming!”

“I guess I was quite hard on him that time.”

“Quite hard on him? No no no, you HAVE to be hard on him. Or else, how will he learn?”

“Heh, you can say that again. I remembered the time when he burnt down 5 houses just by helping with Princess Celestia’s entrance preparations. SHE was the only one who showed remorse for the little coward!”

“Coward is here, and he is like down here.” Rainbow showed a giant gap with both her hands.

“If it were me, I recommend not dating him at all. My beautiful mane and wonderous body wouldn’t last a day with him.”

“Who said I’d be dating him? It’s better if he dated a yak, they’d be loving each other as much as they'd be destroying each other.”

Their laughter continued as the insults came pouring. With a couple more talks here and there, I sped off as quickly as I could. My beating hard thumping fast emotionally and physically. Tears falling down my cheeks. For once in my life, was I able to finally find the reality….

I arrived home shortly after. Unlocking the doors and locking it as I went inside. I placed the gifts gently on the sofa and made my way to my bed, the only personal safehaven I had. I placed my head on my pillow as I let my tears flow as they pleased.

Thoughts ran through my mind with my heart and body both rejecting and accepting what they both just said about me.

He is nothing but a lousy annoyance who thinks he is part of a group!

His clumsiness.

Little coward.

Who said I’d be dating him?

Who said…… I’d be dating him.....?

Coward is here, he is like down here.

Miracle...?

Miracle?

MIRACLE!

I sprung up from my bed from the sudden scream. I rubbed my eyes and groaned, with only one question running through my mind.

Who said that?

“Hey Miracle, are you in there? It’s me Spike!” Spike called out from the front door.

I checked the time and it read 8:00. Did I really spend two hours thinking about this?

I didn’t answer as Spike continued to call my name. I went to the bathroom and looked at myself in the mirror. My hair was all messed up, my shirt had wrinkles, and my eyes were red from all the tears.

Once more, Spike continued to call me, “Miracle? It’s Spike!”

With enough courage, I said in a normal voice, “Yeah, Spike?” A part of me hated playing pretend. But another part of me told me I had to…. To learn from my mistakes and be a better pony without having anypony be worried.

“The party is going wild dude! Your idea was superb! Rainbow is loving it right now!” Spike shouted in excitement.

My eyes grew wide. A smile began to form on my face and a thought crossed my mind.

As long as she is happy, I’m happy.

“T-That’s great Spike! That’s really great!” I said tearing up a little, tearing away off my façade.

Silence grew on us. We didn’t say anything for about a minute or so until Spike broke it.

“Hey…. Miracle? Are you… okay?” He asked with concern.

In quick response, I said, “Y-Yeah! I’m fine…. I’m fine.” I reassured.

“Can I…. Come in?” Spike asked still keeping the concerned tone.

I didn’t say anything. I didn’t want him to see what I’ve become as of late. But I too… needed a friend to hang unto in times like this. I got out of the bathroom and unlocked the door, revealing the Spike I saw hours ago with his cutesy tuxedo.

“Oh, hey! Didn’t know you’d actually open th-.“ He was cut short when he looked at my face.

“H-Hey Spike…” I said embarrassingly looking down on the ground, unable to look at him in the eye.

“What happened!? Did you get into a fight or something!?” He questioned.

“No, no Spike… It’s nothing, really… Just… Just had some stuff come up.” I chuckled lightly.

“C’mon, Miracle. I’ve known you for two years now and I know if you’re feeling depressed, sad, angered, and even excited by just looking at you.” He deadpanned.

I looked at him in the eye. I didn’t say anything and led him inside. We both sat on the couch and he asked away.

“So, what really happened?”

I wanted to refrain myself from telling the truth, so I lied. “Like I said, some stuff came up and it was so sudden that I couldn’t handle it.” A part of that was true.

He came closer to me and placed his claws on my shoulder. I looked at him and he looked at me. He smiled softly, “Hey man, It’s okay. Like you told me, I’ll be by your side even. This time, I’ll always be there.”

I breathed in deeply and sighed.

Here goes nothing.

I told Spike about the conversation after I picked up the flowers. The mockery, insults, immense hatred…. I was on the verge of tearing up once more but was comforted by Spike’s anger.

“Are you serious!? That’s what they said? So much of me being with Rarity only to realize she was like this to my best friend!” He spouted in anger.

“Listen, Spike. This is on me, not you. There’s no reason to involve yourself with me.” I said.

“Are you kidding me? I never expected Rainbow out of all ponies to insult you! Sure you came across some bad events in your life here in Ponyville, but all of that came down to one thing, an accident.”

I looked at him with surprise. Out of all the beings living in Ponyville, Spike kept on caring for me, worrying for me, and comforting me. I guess this is the definition of a best friend?

His rant stopped and sighed before looking at me again, this time with a soft smile, “You shouldn’t feel bad about yourself, Miracle. Bad stuff happens every time to ponies and it’s only natural to move on from it. Rainbow might find you clumsy but she doesn’t hate you.” He reassured.

I was about to speak until he spoke first, “’Heh, I’ll try my luck tonight. If that doesn’t go well, I’ll need to try move on.’” He quoted me.

My eyes widened and my a big smile came forming back on my face. Without realizing it, I hugged Spike and he gladly returned it.

“Thanks Spike. Really needed that from a friend.” I said.

“No problem, bro. I’m always here with you as you are here for me.” He extended a fist and I responded by bro-fisting it.

“I’ll wash my face and quickly style my hair before getting to the party.” I said as I walked towards the bathroom.

“I’ll be waiting right here!” He shouted.

I looked at myself in the mirror and quickly washed off the left-over tears that stuck to my cheeks. My bloodshot eyes were gone and my face looked fresh once again. I changed my clothes to a pollo shirt and quickly styled my hair to what it was before. With that settled, I smiled and believed in the words of Spike.

I stepped out and saw Spike smirking. I smirked back and spoke, “Let’s go shall we?”

“Hell yeah!” He said as we both walked out of my room.

Just like that, we both walked to the party.
