It happened 10 years ago.

10 Years ago was when Gaius merged with Earth through unforeseen circumstances. At first, we had good relations with the nations, trade was good, and everyone was happy. we taught them our best sciences, and they taught us magic. We combined the two practices and ushered in a Golden Age of humanity and Ponies. Some Humans even got their versions of Cutie-Marks.

That was Ten Years ago. Now, we are at war with them. Fighting for what's left.
