Best Friend To Marefriend
You always wondered what love is and you never had figured out nor gotten the answer to that question. All you know is that love is a mutual, heart warming feeling that happens in a lot of lives. But now is not the appropriate time to think about that, you got to help your friend Starlight Glimmer out. It was never clear to you how Starlight came to Ponyville. You arrived in Equestria about eight years ago and only met her two years ago but that is besides the point. Starlight Glimmer when you first met her was a very cheerful and somewhat timid pony and she's always been that way for as long as you can remember.
(Flashback)
It was a normal day in Ponyville everyone had gotten used to a human existing a few years ago and now treated you as one of their own. You had encountered Rainbow Dash and she seemed like she was eager to tell me something.
"Anon! Anon! Anon!"she exclaimed.
"What is it Dash?" you ask
"There's a new pony in town that I'd like you to meet."
"Okay. Where is she?"
"Here. I'll bring you to her." Rainbow Dash said throwing you on her back and flying off to where a unfamiliar light pink pony with purple hair and green highlights was standing there shy and lonely. Rainbow Dash approaches her as you follow behind.
"Anon, this is Starlight Glimmer. She's a new pony that we encountered a few months ago. I wanted to start her off with a new friend." Rainbow Dash said.
“So are you trying not to be friends with her and you just want me to do it instead?” you ask skeptically. Rainbow Dash puts her hooves up.
“N-No! It’s not like that! I just wanted to introduce her to you because you’re such a nice pony!”
“If you say so Dash.” you correspond.
You put a hand out in front of her. You were about 3 feet away from she rebut because of your long arms you was able to reach her.
"Hi." She lightly blushed but shook your hand with her hoof.
"H-hi."she said a little timidly. I chuckle quietly. This was just so cute.
"No need to feel scared Starlight. I'm a friendly human."
“I-I've just never seen a real human before."
"Well if you want I could tell you everything there is about a human."
"Sure that sounds nice."she said.
(End of Flashback)
So it would come as a big surprise to you to hear her cry. You had taken a stroll in the Everfree forest to think about a few things until you heard a cry from a pony. You quietly rushed over to the source and saw your angelic best friend, Starlight Glimmer sobbing by a pond and staring at her reflection. Something you hated that you never thought you would see out of Starlight or any pony is to see them cry.
Any act of sadness always struck you like lightning. It always left a sharp pain in your heart, especially if it's your best friend. You walk over to her and sat yourself beside her.
She didn't notice you from how loud her crying was. Just seeing her like this makes your heart ache so you take your left arm and wrap it around her. She froze from the touch and looks to where it came from. The moment she looks into your eyes with them being all puffy and red, she dive into your chest, her crying growing louder as if she was speaking into a megaphone. You softly stroke her purple mane and after her crying dies down you cup her cheek and make her look up at you.
"Tell me, Starry." you said. You had never used that nickname for her for a long time but you figured that now would be a right time to use it. She looks away from you, clearly thinking about her decision to tell you.
"I shouldn't. You'd think I'm a monster."
"If I really thought you were a monster I would have never been your friend in the first place. I don't want to increase the amount of stress in your head Star, but whatever you have to say, I will not judge nor insult you for. I wouldn't be a best friend if I did." Starlight let's out a sigh and lies her head down on the fresh green grass behind her. She places her hooves on her belly and gestures you to lie next to her. You do as told and she starts her storytelling.
"Well it all started when I was a small foal. I had one friend who treated me the best and we both enjoyed each other's company. Until one day he got his cutie mark which is that symbol on our flanks if you haven't noticed and they represent our destiny but he ended up leaving me behind and it struck me. I ran off heartbroken..."

"...and well that's when I met you."she said. Your jaw had dropped throttle floor at this point. However it was not because of her story. It was because you knew about all of that already. Twilight is really terrible at keeping secrets. But what you're shocked about is the fact that she would hide all of this from you. You both were always upfront about everything.
Starlight noticed your silence and sighs.
"I'm sorry, you must think I'm a beast."
"No...I don't Starlight."
Starlight gives you a puzzled look.
"Do you think that I would still be here if I did? Like I said, I wouldn't be a best friend if I did. Starlight, why didn't you tell me this before?"
"Because I didn't want something as terrible as that to break up our friendship."she sobbed quietly.
"Starlight, the bond between us is too strong to be broken up by something like that. Plus to be honest, I already knew."
Starlight's blue pupils shrunk to the size of blood cells.
"What?! How?! When?! Who told you?!"she asked very nervously.
"Twilight is not good with keeping secrets." Starlight grew agitated.
"But that's not the point Star. Our friendship is stronger than the elements of harmony. Keeping a secret from me would hurt me. I don't care about how evil you were in the past. That's history, you changed. A new mare who has more knowledge on spells than the princess of friendship and has a charming personality who has made tons of friends over the years. The past doesn't not matter. Sure you may have had a stone heart in the past but that heart changed to gold. It's as beautiful as you are." you said brushing her hair away from her eye. Starlight was speechless. She didn't know what to say. She cleared her throat before answering.
"Oh! T-thank you."she said twirling a lock of her hair with her magic.
"I feel a lot better now."
"Good that's my job as a best friend. To keep you safe and happy."
"Yeah.”
'Just wish it was more than a best friend.'she thought.
"How about we head back to the castle and I'll make you your favorite sandwich?" you suggest. Her eyes lit up and she gave you a soft hug.
"Yes. Thank you Anon."she said.
"No problem. Let's go then. You want me to carry you?" you ask. She blushes and nods her head. You smile warmly and scoop her up in your arms as she snuggles in your chest. It always makes you smile to see ponies happy especially Starlight because she's your best friend.
(After arriving at the castle)
You looked down at Starlight. "How about I give you the sandwich in a more comfortable position?"
"Where is there a more comfortable position then your arms?"she asks sighing happily as she slowly nibbles on the palm of my hand.
"My bed." Her face goes flat instant red.
"W-What?"
"That's right in my bed."
'I-Is he serious?'she thought.
You carry her over to your bed and place her next to the pillow. You lift the bed sheets so that Starlight could slip in and then tucked her into your bed.
"There. Is that more comfortable?"
"Y-yeah."
"Good." You respond as you kiss her forehead. She jumps a little and her face was ever more red than before. Which you soon realized.
"Oh! Sorry! I just do that when I tuck the other ponies into bed."
"You...tuck them into bed too?" Starlight asked.
"Yeah they say that it's makes them feel more peaceful. Especially Twilight for whatever reason."
"Oh."
"I'll go make your sandwich." you said walking out of the door.
You headed down to the kitchen to make Starlight her most favorite sandwich. Starlight was always the one to have things simple so a daisy sandwich would work for her.
"Hmm. Now to add a little bit of love." Something you always love to do is make food with extra love. It makes them appreciate it more, especially Starlight.
You walk back up to the room to see Starlight more cozy. It was quite a cute sight.
"Starry? I got your sandwich here." you said which got her attention.
"Oh! Anon, do you mind bringing it over on the bed?"she asks.
"Sure." You walk over to her side of the bed. Gently she used her magic to take a bite out of the sandwich. She let out a small pleasant moan from how good the sandwich tasted to her.
"Wow that tastes amazing. What did you put in here?" Starlight asks.
"Extra love Starlight." you say. She blushes and takes another bite.
"Wow, it's just amazing. I can't describe how good it is."she said.
"Heh. I figured. You feel better Star?" I ask. She nods. It was then that I noticed how late it was getting.
"Well it's late. I guess I should head off to bed then."
"But Anon, isn't this your bed?"
"Yeah but you know. You're in my bed and I want to respect your privacy and give you some space. Plus the couch is very comfortable."
"Anon, that's really sweet of you but I'm more comfortable with you."she said. Her face flushed as she looks away.
"Um...okay. If you really insist." You lift up the bed sheets and get under the covers with her.
Starlight wraps both her hooves around me and tries to get as close to me as possible.
"Wow you really like to hug me don't you?"
"Everyday. It makes me feel safe warm and cozy." Starlight moves to where your heart is and she sighs. I smile as I turn off the light.
"Goodnight Starlight." I said before drifting off to sleep.
"Goodnight Anon."she said.
(Later that night)
You were woken up by Starlight screaming. "Whoa Starlight! Calm down! What happened?" you ask. Starlight starts to tear up.
"I...I had a nightmare."she said pulling you into her tight embrace.
"Oh Starry, I'm sorry. What about?" you ask stroking her mane.
'She looks beautiful with the moonlight reflecting on her.' you thought.
"It was about me and you. We were talking together enjoying ourselves while taking a stroll. And then something grabbed you and...and you were killed. I don't want to lose you Anon! You're my closest friend! I love you so much! Please don't ever leave me!" Your shirt was stained from all of the tears she was shedding. You stroke her head and kiss her forehead.
"It's okay Starry.It was just a dream. Don't worry, I will never leave you. You're my best friend Starlight." you said. She grabs you with her magic and slaps you on the cheek before slamming her lips against you. You felt her moan as her cheeks grew hotter before she finally pulled away.
"I don't want to be your best friend anymore Anon. Please I want to be your marefriend. You make me feel safe and comfortable at night. Every night I always dream about you! Please Anon...please."she said starting to cry again. She drops you with her magic and you look down at her. You cup her cheek and make her look up at you.
"If you really felt this way why didn't you tell me?" you asked.
"Because I was afraid of—" you cut her off with a passionate kiss. She melts into it as she moans from all of your tongue movement.
"Star, I told you before, you can tell me anything, and you will not be judged for it." you said.
Starlight wipes the tears from her eyes and gives me another tight hug.
"What did I do to deserve you Anon?"she asked.
"Your heart Starlight, that's what. You had a change of heart." you said. She smiles and sighs as she rests her head on your heart again.
"You have an amazing heartbeat you know that?"
"It's not as amazing as you Starry."
"Aw you're so sweet." She starts to cuddle with you.
"We'll continue this in the morning."
"Alright. Good night Anon."she said kissing your forehead.
"Goodnight Starlight." you said giving her a peck on the cheek.
You have finally figured out what love is. It is affection that you give someone special to you. Starlight has taught you that and you will never forget it just like how you will never forget her.
So...a lot of things happened. Your best friend has confessed to you that she has always secretly loved you. Now you’re both a happy couple sand have been enjoying yourselves for the past few months. Though for whatever reason, whenever you show your love to Starlight, your next best friend Twilight gets real angry and you have no idea why. Today Starlight wanted catch up with her childhood friend Sunburst, so you decided to hang back at the castle with your other friends. You looked out the window and stared at the afternoon sky. Twilight comes up behind you and placed a hoof around your back. You give her a soft smile as she does the same to you.
“Hey Twi.”
“Hey Anon. What’cha doing?”
“Just looking at the view of Ponyville. It’s really a nice view.” Twilight tightens her embrace around you and pulls you into a hug as she climbs on top of you. She sighs and looks out the window.
“Yeah. It’s beautiful.”
“Um...yeah. Uh...what are you doing?”Twilight looks up at you and the hugs you tighter.
“Sorry, I’m a little cold.”
“Oh, well I can go get you a blanket.”
“No. No. It’s fine. I know humans are warm-blooded animals and that they have natural body heat.”
“Okay...but don’t you have a fur coat?”
“Yeah but I need more warmth and blankets don’t make me warm.”
“Um...okay?” You said confused. Twilight smiles and scoots up closer to you and rests her head directly below yours. She starts to nuzzle your neck as she hugs you a bit tighter. You could barely breathe but Twilight soon lets you go as she starts up a different conversation.
“So how did it go Anon?”Twilight asked you.
“How did what go Twilight?”
“How did it go when Starlight told you that she took over a village. Did you get mad at her? Did you hate her?”she asks kind of sounding like she was expecting a yes.
“What?! No! Where would you even get that idea Twi?! You’re the princess of friendship! Why would you ask that kind of a question?” I asked a little insulted.
Twilight shrugged as if what she said didn't matter. “No need to snap Anon. I was just asking. So what did you do?”she asked.
“Uh...have you lost your touch on the magic of friendship? I told her that it was okay and that the past is in the past etc.”[/color}
“So...you didn’t get mad at her?” Twilight asked.
“Is that a trick question?” you ask raising an eyebrow.
Twilight was about to say something but you jumped in and cut her off. “Wait, why do you keep asking that? Do you...” you pause. You were starting to think that Twilight told you those things for a reason.
“Are you...trying to ruin my relationship with Starlight?”
“What?! Don’t be silly Anon! I would never do that! I was just curious! I swear!” Twilight said rasing her voice.
“Uh Huh. You were curious if I got mad at her.” you say rasing your eyebrow again.
“Well yeah. It’s not like I’ve ever seen you mad at her before.” Twilight said.
“Twilight, you could be curious about absolutely anything. You could be curious of what the environment is capable of. You could be curious of creatures that you never thought could exist. You could be curious about goddamn cheese. You could be curious of what Pinkie does in her spare time. The list goes on Twi, but being curious of me getting mad at a friend is saying I’m curious if your friendship will ever fall apart. ” you said. Twilight acted like she was falling asleep. You couldn't understand why. It's not like her to sleep through something unless she's really tired.
'Where the hell did that come from?' you thought.
"Relax Anon. It's just my curiosity kicking in." Twilight says in a 'I don't give a damn' tone.
"Yeah well your curiousness is increasing my furiousness."
"That doesn't make any sense Anon."
"It didn't have to! I was making a fucking point! You know what? Screw off Twilight! I don't know why you're acting like a teenage mare but seriously, you have to stop!" you yell as you storm off.
“Anon wait!” Twilight yelled from behind but you just kept on walking. Twilight sighed and tucked her head in her hooves sobbing quietly.
"It's was only because Rainbow Dash told me it was a good idea."she cries muffled in her hooves.
Soon Spike came walking down the hallway and noticed this.
“What’s wrong Twilight?” Spike asked with sympathy.
“It’s nothing Spike.” Twilight said looking up at him. Her eyes all puffy and red, filled with tears.
“This nothing seems to be upsetting you and I want to know why.” Spike persisted. Twilight let out a sigh knowing that he won’t let it go. So she tells him.
Meanwhile you walk out of the castle to see Starry standing there with a warm smile.
“Hey Anon.”she said. You smile and give her a kiss on her muzzle.
“Hey Starry. How are you feeling?” you ask.
“Happy and safe now that I’m even close to you.”she says as she wraps her forehooves around your legs. She squeezes them and rubs her head gently against your pants. She lets out a sigh as she did that. You smile and stroke her mane.
“Have I ever told you that you’re the most beautiful creature in Equestria?” you ask. Starlight smiles and jumps up on to your chest and gives you a tight hug. You were amazed of how she did that due to her size being on the small side.
“Everyday, even before we were soulmates. It’s one of the many reason of why I grew fond of you.”she says.
“Do you want to know how I grew fond of you Starry?” I ask. She nods and scoots her body closer to my face.
“From how beautiful and sweet you are.” I said making her giggle and hug me tighter.
As you both were showing our affection to each other. Twilight was watching you from a stained glass window of the castle. She stuck her tongue out in disgust.
“Ugh. They kiss too much to be in a relationship.”she says.
“Well to be fair hun, there are no rules to love.” Applejack said placing a hoof on Twilight’s back.
“I know. I know. I just don’t like it when they kiss.” Twilight says. Applejack gives her a confused look.
“Now Twilight. Ah know that sometime ya spent in that other world, ya met some guy and ya seemed to like him and Ah think ya may have kissed him so Ah know ya lying about not liking kissin’. ” Twilight turns her head from the window and to Applejack.
“I never said I didn’t like kissing Applejack. I just don’t like it when they kiss.” Twilight says pointing a hoof toward you and Starlight.
“Oh. Ah see. Well why is that sugarcube? There’s gotta be some sort of reason why ya don’t like it. Are ya jealous of Starlight?”
“What? No I don’t. I just don’t...like it.”
“Are ya sure because every night for the past few months, ya been spying on them each time sounding jealous.”
“I was not jealous! I just wanted to know what was going on! They were making such a loud racket with all that weird moaning!” Twilight shrieks.
“Oh come on Twilight! You can’t help but feel a little jealous of Starlight? I mean I wouldn’t blame you if you did have feelings for him.” Rainbow Dash says.
“No, No no no no NO! I DO NOT HAVE FEELINGS FOR ANON!!” Twilight screams.
“Then why do you watch Anon get undressed every morning?” Rainbow Dash asked. Twilight’s face turned from utter anger to utter embarrassment.
“Oh um...no reason. It’s uh...for scientific purposes.”she said.
“Oh really? Are you sure?” Pinkie asked with a devilish grin.
“Yes I’m sure Pinkie Pie!” Twilight yelled agitated.
“Really? Because if I didn’t know any better, I’d say you’re jealous of Starlight.” Rainbow Dash said with a smirk.
“No I’m not! Besides he’s a human. What could I possibly see in him?” Twilight asked.
“Well he is pretty strong darling. Have you seen him without his shirt off?” Rarity asked. The other mares giggled while Twilight started to blush and began to pant heavily.
“S-Stop. I don’t have a crush on him or anything. And why do you girls watch what I do in my spare time?” Twilight asks a little angry.
“Well you make it very hard to resist it darling. I mean you are not very good at hiding yourself.” Rarity says.
“What's that supposed to mean?"
"Your flank sticks out of the door when you're watching them."
"Okay seriously, why do you like to watch what I do? What I do is my business! This has absolutely nothing to do with Anon!” Twilight counters her blush started to grow and Pinkie noticed.
“Ooooh. Somepony’s got a crush.” Pinkie teased her. Twilight slammed Pinkie against the wall and covered her mouth with her hoof. She stared furiously into Pinkie’s eyes as Pinkie was still giggling.
“Not. Another. WORD!!!” Twilight screamed in her face.
“Okay sorry geez. You don’t have to be such a party pooper.” Pinkie whined.
“SHUT UP! SHUT UP! SHUT UP!” Twilight yelled at the top of her lungs.
“I DON’T LIKE ANON!! I NEVER DID LIKE ANON AND I NEVER WILL!!! HOW MUCH MORE DO I HAVE TO MAKE IT CLEAR?!!!” Twilight screams shaking the castle.
“You don’t. You made it clear enough.” you said twelve feet away. Twilight gasped and had a look of sadness in her eyes.
“Anon I...” You place your hand up.
“No Twi. You said it. It’s done. It’s out there. If you didn’t want to be my friend you could have just told me directly. For a princess of friendship you are a shallow friend. Well, your wish is my command. We’re not friends anymore. I hope you’re happy Twilight.” you storm off not saying another word.
Twilight starts to burst into tears and buries her head in her hooves. Her friends all gather around and try and comfort her.
"Wow. That was cold."
“Oh don't play innocent Rainbow! I’ve *sniff* I’ve lost my best friend. Why did you girls have to question me? Why couldn’t you just leave me well enough alone?!!” Twilight snaps making them step back.
“We’re sorry dear. We didn’t know he meant that much to you.” Rarity says.
“Yeah well now you do Rarity and it’s broken like how my heart is right now. He’ll never talk to me again.” Twilight sobs as she runs upstairs and slams the door shut. The girls all felt guilty, even Fluttershy who hadn’t said a single word. No pony was sure what to do right now.
