The Dinner Date

Fluttershy was walking to Twilight's as both her and Twilight had planned to go out for dinner as a Fluttershy had offered to treat Twilight out, Fluttershy was quite nervous about this prospect as she had never gone out to a high class dinner with someone. Fluttershy was freaking out over the process that she would offend Twilight or disrespect her by accident and she didn't want any of those things to happen. Fluttershy looked down at her nice dress and sighed hoping it won't get dirty that evening.

As Fluttershy walked up to Twilight's door she wondered how she should treat Twilight, this was the first time Fluttershy was having a one on one dinner with Twilight, she knew that she would pay for the meal and everything and possibly open doors for Twilight but other than that she didn't know of Twilight would ask for help getting there, it was a few miles as the new diner was all the way in Canterlot.

Fluttershy sighed as she fixed her dress while she looked up at Twilight's royal castle, it looked intimidating in these circumstances which lead to Fluttershy feeling even more scared, she brought up her hand to knock on the door but hesitated as she thought about how to greet Twilight, she forgot if she had to bow to her own friend or not. Soon Twilight opened the door sitting in her wheelchair dressed up In stunning dress and Fluttershy bowed to her friend.

"I'm here your highness! I-I-I said I-I would c-come back on time." Fluttershy stuttered as she closed her eyes, Twilight looked at her with a bewildered face.

"What are you doing?" Twilight asked with a confused face, Fluttershy felt confused.

"Bowing, isn't that what one does when going on a date with a princess? I thought protocol required it?" Fluttershy asked, Twilight rolled her eyes.

"Fluttershy we live in modern times now, dates don't have to bow to royalty anymore, besides Princess Celestia doesn't require people to bow to her anymore, you don't have to worship me under the fear of execution for Celestia's sake." Twilight sighed, Fluttershy blushed as she now felt embarrassed for doing that for no reason she quickly stood back up and rubbed the back of her head.

"Really? Sorry about that I was just freaking out." Fluttershy said.

"Yes really it's not a crime to refuse bowing to the royal family anymore, You don't have to freak out Fluttershy your not going to be punished due to not bowing, Celestia ended punishments for that and legalized refusal to bowing after I became a princess...now would you be a sweetheart and push me to our destination?" Twilight teased.

"With pleasure!" Fluttershy exclaimed as her heart leaped into her throat due to excitement, Twilight pulled Fluttershy in with a hug and Fluttershy pushed Twilight in her wheelchair where they wanted to go.

When they got their Fluttershy pushed Twilight's wheelchair up to the table first and helped her get comfortable and then seated herself.

Once they sat down at the nice eatery in Canterlot which they had reserved seats at beforehand they were given menus, due to an advantage of Twilight being a princess Twilight and Fluttershy's food would have quicker prepare time than all the other customers. The waitress came up and told them the specials and asked what they wanted.

"Can I have red wine please?" Twilight asked the waitress nodded and wrote it down while she looked at Twilight, Fluttershy blushed as she watched Twilight due to being distracted and then Twilight cleared her throat which made Fluttershy blush and snap out of it.

"Do you have whiskey...um I mean if that's okay with you?" Fluttershy asked, Twilight wanted to slap her forehead in frustration and embarrassment, Fluttershy looked at her cluelessly, Twilight whispered into Fluttershy's ear.

"What do you think this is? A bar!? They don't serve that here!" Twilight whispered, Fluttershy felt so embarrassed, she looked back at her waitress.

"Sorry I only know so much when it comes to these type of places, I'll just have clear wine even if it doesn't taste to good." Fluttershy told her the waitress wrote it down and frowned with disapproval.

"You've clearly never been to a place like this? Please refrain from blunt comments like that, if you have any complaints wait after dinner." The waitress said, with that she left, Twilight sighed.

"Fluttershy are you serious right now!? Your lucky we weren't kicked out, you must never voice your displeasure our loud in these types of diners, the proper way was to talk to service people directly after the meal!" Twilight exclaimed, Fluttershy felt ashamed.

"Oh...I'm sorry I wasnt thinking clearly, I think I knew that before hand but I forgot just about now." Fluttershy said as she blushed deep red as she shied away, Twilight shrugged.

"It's over with now I suppose, thanks for taking me out by the way I truly appreciate it." Twilight said as she reverted back to a cheerful persona.

"Your welcome Twilight having dinner with you is going to be amazing." Fluttershy said, Fluttershy and Twilight both talked for a bit and then looked at the prices.

"Well this place is more expensive than I though! I can only afford a handful of these!" Twilight silently whispered to Fluttershy who agreed.

"Do you want to leave or..." Fluttershy asked but Twilight shook her head.

"No that's okay I just made up my mind." Twilight said, Fluttershy worked to find some meal that she liked and then they both out he menus down.

Soon waitress came back and Fluttershy and Twilight put in her orders and the waitress left once again

"Um...I don't mean to ask this as I don't want to be rude but....why haven't they given us our wine yet?" Fluttershy whispered.

"They don't give you the wine until your meal arrives that's just how this place works." Twilight said, Fluttershy nodded and while they waited for their food Fluttershy spoke.

"When are you going to give up being a princess Twilight? Your getting close to retiring." Fluttershy said as she thought about the tabloids that were all predicting Twilight stepping down, Twilight knew this question would happen, she sighed as she thought about telling the truth.

"Pretty soon, I've been thinking about it a lot, I'll retire in a month or two, that's my plan, once I do retire I can go back to being a recluse in my library while I socialize with you and my friends and family, that day can't come fast enough." Twilight remarked with a sad smile Fluttershy laughed.

"Spike must have been happy to hear this." Fluttershy remarked, Twilight shrugged.

"Yeah he's pretty happy, he'll get to spend more time with Rarity and my parents once I do step down because I won't need his help anymore, I'll still see him but I won't require him to help me anymore as I've grown in my abilities of organization I have more energy to get several things at once and I memorized where the spots were now, Spike will grow up and possibly move to somewhere and I can be happy for him and myself, how about you Fluttershy? I've heard you have quite the thing for science now, I think I'm having an influence on you." Twilight teased causing Fluttershy to laugh

"I'm studying quantum physics aside from my animal care business, the science behind it is mind blowing I've been missing out on a lot it seems." Fluttershy said, Twilight smiled lovingly at Fluttershy causing Fluttershy to blush beet red.

"And it's something you enjoy? Do you like it more than animal care?" Twilight asked, Fluttershy smiled and looked away.

"I like both equally but I guess that will change to." Fluttershy said.

"We are adaptive to change the philosophers say." Twilight said, soon they got their meals and chewed while they chatted politely.

"Do you still like classical music? My favorite is string." Twilight said, Fluttershy smiled.

"Yes I do but it's not as sexy as you." Fluttershy complimented, Twilight grinned.

"You sure are a smooth talker these days, I'll admit that you've changed since becoming friends with me and it's a good change. Your more outgoing and playful your not the Shy scared girl I use to knew. I'm proud of you." Twilight said.

"Thank you." Fluttershy said as she took another bite.

"Is your brother doing alright? Also did you enjoy that museum you went to?" Fluttershy asked, Twilight loved the fact that Fluttershy remembered the museum incident.

"Aside from making a huge ruckus there about Celestia yes I did." Twilight said. Flutterhsy nodded and continued to eat. Soon they finished.

"Would you want some nice junk food Twilight?" Fluttershy asked.

"No it's alright. Thanks for taking me to dinner." Twilight said, Fluttershy nodded silently, Twilight payed the diner and they both left without desert. Fluttershy returned Twilight to the castle in Ponyville as she pushed Twilight in her wheelchair all the way back to the castle as they left Canterlot behind.

"Thanks for the night out Fluttershy your an amazing friend." Twilight said.

"Your welcome Twilight I hope to see you again soon." Fluttershy said and with that Fluttershy went back home deeming her dinner date a success.
