Things were pretty bad in Equestria. Crime was rampant, ponies were starving, and the country was ruled by a tyrant. Shining didn't really give a fuck, it just happened that those on his list of ponies to murder weren't highly appreciated by others.

Things were looking pretty bad for the citizens of Equestria. Famine, pestilences, the loss of any form of justice, a cruel and tyrannical ruler, ponies getting killed on the side of the road every day. Shining didn't really give a fuck about that, it just so happened that those he was interested in killing were also the root of all those problems. Not that he didn't appreciate the support from others, but really, he was just doing it because he wanted to butcher those ponies. And those who stood between him and them, for good measure.

I know Dragonslayer is the name of Guts's sword, but I didn't want Shining running around with a thing like that, so I just gave him the title.
