Twi Forces Shining to Share His Middle Name
It's just a normal day when Cadence comes over to foalsit Twilight Sparkle. As soon as she runs in, Twilight goes over and greets her with their little handshake dance. "Sunshine, sunshine, ladybug awake, clap our hooves, an' do a whittle shake," giggles Twilight. Cadence giggles back.
"That was fun," giggles Cadence. "Is Shining around???"
"In his woom," responds Twilight as the two go to his room after Cadence picks Twilight up and onto her back. The two then drag him out into the main room.
"Oh, hey Cadence," says Shining armor with a blush. "Didn't expect you to come over today. I thought you were out of town."
"No, the trip with my aunts isn't until next week, silly," responds Cadence with a smile. "Remember?"
"Oh, right?" responds Shining. "Well, I'm glad you're here."
"Game! Game!" the two hear Twilight say behind them.
"Fine, how about my favorite?" says Cadence, "the middle name game."
"No! No! No!" says Shining adamantly. "Why don't we do tag? Charades? Anything but that?"
"Mid name! Mid name! Mid name! C'mon big bwother. Mid name! Mid name! Mid name!" cheers Twilight.
"You're outnumbered two to one," responds Cadence, "and the last thing you want to do is let down your little sister in front of me. After all, I'm your marefriend. I have a right to know your middle name."
"Fine, but you go first," responds Shining.
"My middle name is the name I go by silly. It's Cadence. My first name is actually Amore, remember?"
"Then Twilight go," responds Shining with a grunt.
"Fwine," responds the filly, "it's Polaris. Now go big bwother."
"Fine," says Shining letting out a long breath. "It's Caesar."
"No, it's not!" blurts out Twilight.
"Fine," says Shining. "It's Maximus."
"It's not that either, come on bwother," responds Twilight.
"Fine, it's Velvet," says Shining. "I told you it was embarrassing."
"It's cute," says Cadence. "But I won't tell any pony else. I promise."
"Promise?" says Shining.
"Promise."
The two then share a kiss. Meanwhile in the corner, Twilight can't stop laughing.
"Twily! Stop it!" Shining yells at the filly. He then storms back up to his room and slams the door. Cadence shrugs it off and begins to play a round of tag with Twilight downstairs. All the while, she makes sure the filly's magic doesn't get out of hand as they play.
"What the heck is wrong with me?" grumbles Shining upstairs in his room. "How could my little sis talk me into sharing my middle name with Cadence? Gagh! That filly can sometimes be a pain in the rear. I can't stand her sometimes. Especially right now. Gagh! Gagh!" He uses his magic to throw his action figures into the wall with a thud.
"Wait here Twi," says Cadence as she hears the thud on the wall upstairs. She goes up the stairs to Shining's room.
"I heard the thud," she says as she stands in his doorway. "You alright?"
"Fine, just embarrassed and mad with my sister," responds Shining.
"Don't be mad with her, I'm the one that started it," responds Cadence sweetly.
"I know," responds Shining, "I'm just used to blaming everything on my sister. It's kind of what I do."
"But just know, I had no right to ask. She had no right to encourage either, but she's just a foal, Shining," responds Cadence.
"I know," grumbles Shining. "I owe her an apology, don't I?"
"Yep," says Cadence as she pulls him down the stairs by the ear with her magic. She then plops him in front of Twilight. "Well, do it."
"Twily," says Shining, "I'm sorry."
"You a forgiften," responds Twilight as she goes over and hugs him.
Cadence even joins in on the hug. As she does she whispers in his ear. "See, that wasn't so bad."
"Yeah, I guess so," responds Shining. "As always, you're right."
A few minutes later, the three go into the kitchen and bake cookies together from dough Twilight Velvet had saved away in the freezer. They even eat a few of the balls raw. After awhile, the ones they didn't eat raw come out of the oven and they gobble down those too. After that, they finally do charades like Shining wanted.
"Oooh, Monkey," says Twilight.
"No, it's a turtle," responds Cadence with a giggle.
"Bird," says Twilight.
"Cadence got it right, Twi," says Shining. "Your turn love."
Cadence nods and gets up in the center.
"Monkey," says Twilight.
"No, bear," responds Shining.
"Bird," says Twilight.
"No, umbrella mare from down the street," responds Shining.
"No kite," says Twilight.
"No, ballerina," says Shining.
"Neither of y'all got it and you're out of chances," says Cadence. "It was a rocket ship. Your turn, Twi."
Twi then gets in the center.
"Bird," says Shining.
Twi then motions her arms again.
"Monkey," says Cadence.
"Mmhmm," says Twilight. She then claps and gets excited. As a result, she has a magic surge and magic shoots everywhere.
"Man," says Shining, "mom's gonna kill me now. This is the second time this week Twilight's destroyed the house." A few minutes later, Twilight disappears.
"Where? Where'd she go?" asks Cadence stunned.
"I don't know. We lost my sister!" He begins to freak out and the two begin to call out.
"Twily! Twily!" say the two. "Where are you, Twily?"
"Up here," says Twilight. The two then look above their heads as Twilight phases through the ceiling and pops down into her brother's arms. "Hey, Shining Velvet Armor." This makes Cadence laugh.
"It's time to let the middle name cease from existence again, Twily," says Shining with a grumble.
Twilight nods and shuts up. The three then go off to the park and to the ice cream cart after cleaning up the mess around the house. At the park, Twilight giggles as the two lovebirds take turns pushing her on the swing.
Three hours later, Velvet and Nightlight approach the children at the park and take them home to dinner. "So, what was today like?" asks Velvet with a smile.
"Normal, just like every other day," responds Shining. "Nothing weird or embarrassing happened at all."
"You're lying," says Velvet with a smile. "Twi embarrassed you in front of Cadence again didn't she."
"No," responds Shining, "this time I actually embarrassed myself in front of Cadence. It was a silly game."
"Let me guess," responds Velvet, "it was the middle name game."
"Yes," says Shining going red out of embarrassment, partially stunned as well. He didn't even know his mother was aware of that game. "But, but how did you know that mom?"
"Ponies on my cheer squad and the ponies I worked with at Disneigh land used to do it all the time," responds Velvet. "I'm kind of the one that taught it to Cadence."
"Darn it mom," hollers Shining. He then bursts out laughing.
"Don't worry," says Velvet. "My middle name is Rosida."
"And mine is Frolic," says Nightlight. "Yours isn't the most embarrassing in the family."
"Why does Twilight have the only normal middle name?" grumbles Shining as his head hits the table with a thud. He then summons an icepack and puts it on the sore. He can't believe that all of this started with his mother.
