Sunshine's Second Christmas
It's a beautiful snowy day outside as Rainbow rushes around her Cloudsdale home getting stuff ready for Christmas with her family. It's her turn to host this year and she wants to make it absolutely perfect. "Soaren, give me a hoof already!" moans Rainbow Dash as she looks at him somewhat annoyed.
"Fine," says Soaren as he gets out of the chair and helps Rainbow hang the tinsel. "Explain to me why you want everything perfect again."
"Because it's my little cousin's second Christmas and I want it to be absolutely perfect for her since I'm hosting the family Christmas this year," responds Rainbow. "I've told you this a million times." She then flies down and grabs a box of ornaments and begins to hang them on the tree and on the tinsel. After three hours, all the decorations are up and just in time because Rainbow soon hears a bell ring outside. "I got it!" she yells as she flies over to the door and unlocks it to her uncle, aunt, baby cousin, mom and dad. "Hey!" says Rainbow as she embraces them in a great big hug.
"Wow, this looks amazing dearest," says Windy with a smile.
"Awe, don't make me blush mom. Not in front of Soaren," responds Rainbow Dash.
"Oh, right, sorry," responds Windy.
"How's it going Dash?" asks her uncle Blitz. "It's been awhile."
"Great, I love the Wonderbolts. I'm glad you're here," responds Rainbow with a smile as she gives him a hug. She then goes over to Firefly and takes Sunshine from her. She then cuddles the little filly who happily laughs in her arms.
"Someone missed her cousin," says Firefly with a smile. "You're her favorite."
"Cool, is she flying yet?" asks Rainbow with a smile.
"Not yet," says Firefly. "Hopefully soon, though. I didn't start flying until I was about three, so I'm thinking that's the case for Sunny too."
"Where's the grill, Dash?" asks Bow. "I wanna get it fired up."
"In the back shed," says Rainbow. "Soaren, do you mind showing him?" Soaren nods as he flies outside followed by Bow to get the grill.
A few minutes later, Bow and Soaren get the grill fired up. Bow then goes inside and gets the haysteaks out of the fridge and throws them on the grill. Meanwhile inside, Firefly and Windy work on a nice potato salad and steamed dandelions and get stuffed prepped for the pineapple apple fritter trifle dessert. While all of this is going on, Rainbow happily plays with her cousin on the floor. Blitz, bored of being inside, goes outside to help Bow and Soaren grill up the haysteaks. Everything, so far, is off to a perfect start.
Sunshine's Second Christmas
Later that afternoon, all the food is ready, the dessert is prepped, and everypony sits down to Christmas dinner together. Bow then prays over the food. They all then chow down. After several servings of Christmas dinner, everyone gathers around the tree and open gifts. The first one to open her gifts is the youngest in the room, Sunshine. The first one she gets is from Rainbow Dash. She then picks it up and begins to shake the box. She then opens it with help from her mother. She then takes the doll out and grabs it close to her.
"It's my old childhood doll," says Rainbow with a smile. "I'm glad you like it, Sunny."
Sunshine then gets handed her second gift, the one from her aunt and uncle. She then opens it once again with help from her mother. Inside, there's a miniature Wonderbolts costume. They then help her put it on. Rainbow and Soaren then go hop in their Wonderbolt costumes and take some fun pictures with Sunshine. After several pictures, Sunshine opens her final gift from her parents. It's a Daring Do comic book and matching figurine.
"Cool!" says Rainbow Dash. "That's a good gift there, little cos." She then embraces the little filly in a great big hug.
It's then Rainbow Dash's turn to open her gifts. The first one is from Soaren. As she opens it, she finds an identical comic book and action figure to her little cousin's with the only difference being that the comic book is actually signed by Daring Do herself. "Your friend Pinkie helped me manage to get it signed by Daring," says Soaren as he rubs his neck.
"I love it," says Rainbow as she goes over and gives him a kiss on a cheek.
Rainbow then goes back to her seat and opens her next gift, something Scootaloo dropped by the house. Rainbow opens it to find a picture of her and Scootaloo along with a bunch of Rainbow Dash fan club march. Rainbow then moves onto her next gift, the one from her aunt and uncle. In this box, Rainbow finds a rare Emerald cover and Glowstone cover edition of Daring Do and the Adventure into Somnambula. She continues to go through the box and also finds the rare Sapphire cover, Moonstone cover, and Sunstone covers of the same comic. She then embraces her aunt and uncle in a hug and thanks them so much for the awesome gift. Rainbow then opens her final gift, the one from her parents. Inside, she finds a picture of her and her parents from when they took her to her first Wonderbolts show as a filly and then one from one of her recent shows of the three of them together.
"Mom, dad, I love them," says Rainbow as tears well up in her eyes. She then flies over and gives the two of them in a great big hug.
"You're welcome," respond her parents as they embrace their daughter.
The gifting then continues with Blitz giving a gift to Bow. Bow then opens a box to find a new set of tongs. He then happily embraces his brother in a hug as he gives Blitz his gift. Blitz opens it to find a signed Wonderbolts poster 1970s edition. "I...I love it," says Blitz as he embraces his brother in a hug.
"I figured you would," says Bow with a smile. "You always talk about how much you loved that era of the Wonderbolts. It took me forever to find a decent one on Ehay."
"Well, it's perfect," responds Blitz. "I'm definitely getting it framed."
Windy and Firefly then exchange their gifts. Firefly gets the Rainbow ruby necklace she wanted for years and Windy gets more gardening supplies. The two are absolutely thrilled and share a great big hug.
After all the gifting ends, everypony goes and joins up with the Shies to go caroling through Cloudsdale. Even little Sunshine does her best to sing along. Rainbow has to admit, she definitely did right by her little cousin, at least in her mind.
