'Golden Eyes,' or 'Gold' for short, is a Griffon who is not of Equestria. He doesn't even remember how he got into the world, or how he was transformed into the creature he is now. He lived on Equestria for almost two years and most of that time is unknown to him.

As he struggles to regain those missing memories, a single overwhelming desire burned into his very soul.

Going home.

After unintentionally saving a Princess in the Kingdom of Eroza, he discovers that Equestria is having a crisis with unusual creatures masquerading as ponies and causing havoc. Initially, after many failed attempts to prove his identity, he learns about the creatures, and what happens to them when they are discovered... Not wanting to be mistaken for one of those creatures, he now keeps his true identity a secret, and after doing a bit of studying; he realizes that his goal demands him to travel to other parts of Equestria.
