“So, do you believe what the Inn keeper said about a Goblin outpost being in the middle of the desert?” Vladimir the Barbarian asked.
“I do not know, my friend. I will believe it when I see it.” Replied Gregoth the Wizard. “Its worth the gold you know. I need it for a new window, the one that you broke remember?”
“Oh yeah… I was wondering why we’re doing this in the first place!” Replied Vlad with a guilty tone in his voice. “Sorry about that again. like I said, I was practicing my axe throwing and your window happened to be in the way.”
“Well, it seems you need a LOT more practice if the damn target was three feet under my window!” Gregoth said. Vladimir chuckled.
“Lets pick up the pace, we are almost there.” He said trying to change the subject as they walk.
====================================
The valley was dark and cold, nothing special. It seemed to be like a maze of rocks and sand with some rocky overhangs above. The search for the ’Goblin Outpost’ had begun. Vladimir and Gregoth stayed together not separating. After a while, Gregoth noticed his friend Vladimir was getting rather annoyed by sheer boredom.
“Greg, we have been out here for an hour!” Vladimir yawned, “I don’t think there is a goblin outpost here. Lets just head….” As Vladimir was finishing his sentence, Gregoth ears twitched at the sound of stumbling rocks.
“Stop.” Gregoth held his hand up to his friend signaling to be quiet, “Did you hear that?” Gregoth turned around and noticed a small pile of pebbles that have fallen next to him. He quickly peered up at a small overhang to see if anything was there. Nothing.
“Hear what? Don’t be so paranoid. There is nothing here besides rocks and dust!” Vladimir exclaimed to Gregoth, “Lets head back and tell Inn keeper that nothing is here.”
Gregoth paused for a second, then nodded at his barbarian friend. He still was suspicious. As they took a few steps back, more rocks began fall in front of Gregoth. He looked up quickly and noticed something moving. He looked again and noticed it was a goblin, with a short bow. Gregoth pointed his quarterstaff In the direction of the running goblin.
“Ray of Frost!” Gregoth yelled as his the end of his staff began to glow light blue. A beam of ice shot toward the little goblin. It hit the goblin in the chest, it recoiled him back and sent him falling. The goblin landed with a loud *Crack* and *Thud*. Vladimir was startled and pulled out his duel battle axes.
“Calm down, I killed him.” The Elf wizard said to the startled Human Barbarian. “I had a feeling we where being watched. We're alright now.”
“Why would there be a goblin out in the middle of nowhere?” Vladimir asked, “They never go alone, they are always in-” Vladimir stopped as he readied his axes. “Groups…” As soon as his words made existence four goblins appeared around them with hammers and dirks. Two was facing Vladimir and two was facing Gregoth.
“This seems quite familiar doesn’t it Vlad?” Gregoth said,
“Yea, it reminds me when we where on that mountain pass with those drunk Dwarves.” Replied the Barbarian chuckling a bit, "That fight was fun".
Before anyone could make their move. A sudden bubble of purple energy appeared above the goblins Gregoth was faced with. In terror of the orb, the two goblins fled, but the ones where Vlad was facing just stood there.
The bubble was as large as Gregoth.
“Vlad, look!” The old wizard shouted. Vladimir turned around to see the purple veil becoming more dense with a darker shade of purple. A silhouette started to appear in the purple orb. The silhouette became more clear. It seemed to be a horse, but smaller and had a sharply pointed horn sticking out of it’s forehead. When the silhouette became perfectly visible Gregoth stepped forward. He began to extend his quarter staff toward the bubble. The tip of the staff puckered the orb. The magic within the orb began to collide with the magic in Gregoth’s quarterstaff. As a result, a bright purple flash appeared, Gregoth and Vladimir closed their eyes to protect them from the bright light. Vladimir began to open his eyes as the light dimmed down a bit. Vlad quickly turned around and threw his axes straight at the bewildered goblins that where covering their eyes, puncturing their skull’s and killing them instantly.
‘Good aim Vlad’ Vladimir thought to himself smirking. Soon after, Gregoth opened his eyes to find the magic bubble had disappeared leaving a purple horse laying on the ground, out like a light.
