Rainbow Maned Guardian (Redux)
The events take place during season 4
In The Human World...
Drake wanted to be somewhere else. He didn't like the place he lived at, nor the people he had to deal with on a daily basis. He just wanted everyone to go away and leave him alone. But, no one would leave him alone. Instead, he had to sit in a classroom that was filled with other students he despised. Luckily, or unluckily in his case, school was almost over.
Drake was in Kindergarten. He was a five-year-old, who didn't have that many friends. He just pushed people away. They didn't know what it was like for him. They didn't understand why he was like this and they never will understand. He had dirty blonde hair, and would usually wear a plain green button-up with a pair of dark blue jeans. As if right now, he was just doodling on a small piece of lined paper.
He was drawing a character from a show that he saw last night. He didn't remember the name of the show or what it was about. All he could remember was the character. He pulled his pencil away to see how well he was doing with the picture. It looked good enough for his standards, now all he needed to do was color it in.
As he was about to pull out his pack of colored pencils, he stopped when he heard the noise. The bell had rung, indicating that school was over. All the students stood up, with their backpacks and made their way out of the class. He too was about to follow them but was stopped by the all too familiar voice of his teacher.
"Drake, may I speak with you for a moment?" She asked, making Drake sigh. He hated whenever she did this and he always knew the reason why.
"What?" He said, walking up to her. She tried to put on a smile.
"Drake, you don't ever want to spend any time with your classmates," She started. "Whenever there's a small group project, you never want to do it. Your work, in general, is either never finished or is incorrect." She stopped for a moment, before continuing. "I know there's something wrong and I can't help you unless you talk to me..." Drake looked away.
"I don't have a problem. I just don't like the other kids and I don't like doing the work." He replied, looking back at her. She could tell that he was lying.
"Well, why don't you like working with the others. I know they don't pick on you, so what's wrong? Please tell me..." She said, with a voice of true concern. Drake, however, didn't want it.
"Look, there is nothing wrong with me, so would you please stop saying that there is? I'm so tired of you always thinking I have a problem when it's you who's causing it!" Drake shouted. With that, he stormed out of the class before the teacher could stop him.
He didn't want to admit it, but he did have a problem. He had one that he wished would just go away, but he knew that it wasn't that simple. He looked around at all the other students, who were running to their parent's cars. Their parents seemed excited to see them, as they wrapped their arms around their children. A flair of jealousy rose up in him by just looking at the others. He wished someone would care for him like that. He wished someone would greet him after school, wanting to know all about there day. While there was someone, that someone didn't care about those things at all.
Maybe, someone would save him, if he just talked to someone about his problems. But he never did. He didn't trust any adults. Drake looked at the street, and saw his fathers car, making its way towards the school. He didn't want to go with him again. But he didn't have a choice. The ran down car quickly made its way to the school, parking right across the street from where Drake was. He walked over to the car and got into the passenger side.
The smell of heavy alcohol made its way into Drakes' nostrils. He covered them, trying his best to block out the odor. He looked up at his dad, who didn't acknowledge the fact that his son was doing so, as he drove off.
"You're going to have to clean up the entire house after we get home..." His father said in a deep, gruff voice. His father was 6.0 in height, who always wore a stained covered white shirt. He didn't seem to mind though. His hair was dirty and he smelled like he hadn't had a good shower for days. Because it was true.
"Why...?" Drake said, in a low mumble, making his father glared at him.
"Because I'm going to have someone over who isn't as miserable to be around like you are!" He said, almost shouting. "Stop asking questions, otherwise I'll smack you and you wont do anything for the rest of the day." Drake shook his head slowly. His father sighed "I don't know why I still let you stay with me. You're really worthless, aren't you?" Drake felt anger starting to swell up in him. He wanted to shout as his father. Tell him exactly what he thought about him. But he knew that would lead him to severe punishments.
"Yes, sir..." He said, defeated, as they continued their way back to their house.
Back In Equestria.....
Rainbow Dash was speeding through the air as she did on most days. She enjoyed the wind going through her mane, she enjoyed the adrenaline from going so fast, she enjoyed just about every aspect there was for flying.
"This is great." Rainbow Dash said. "I don't have any more weather patrol, I can do whatever I want to-" She was cut off, by the familiar voice of Twilight.
"Rainbow Dash!" She shouted, causing Rainbow to put on her brakes, nearly causing her to crash in a cloud. She looked down at Twilight, with an annoyed look.
"What Twilight? This better be important!" Rainbow said, flying down to where Twilight was.
"It is Rainbow. Do you remember that time I had to travel through a mirror, to go get my crown from that other world?" Twilight asked. Rainbow did remember that. She even remembered when Twilight said, "Hands" after she came back and she had no idea what it meant.
"Um... Yeah, why do you ask?" Rainbow asked, with a curious look.
"Well," Twilight showed her a letter that was sent to her. "This spell lets us go to another world that's like that one, except this one is different in many ways." Rainbow went into thought.
"So... You're going to another version of the world you went to?" Rainbow asked, rubbing her head. Twilight nodded.
"Yes, but in order for it to work, we need six ponies or more..." Twilights voice trailed off, not really wanting to be rude to Rainbow. She, however, caught onto this and smiled.
"Sure, I would love to go with you to this, weird human world." Rainbow Dash put her hoof to her chin in thought. "I wonder what it will be like to be one of those things that live there..."
"In this world, you don't get changed into then when you go through, you stay pony, I'm sure anyway," Twilight said.
"Awww, oh well, still I would like to go," Rainbow said. Twilight giggled.
"Great! We just need our other friends for this to work." Twilight said, and Rainbow nodded.
"Well then, let's get......." Rainbow's voice trailed off, as she suddenly felt something. Something that wasn't right. She felt it course through her chest. She only had this feeling when one of her friends or somepony else was in serious danger. She slowly began to hover down towards Twilight, who noticed her strange behavior.
"Rainbow? Are you okay?" Twilight asked, causing her to snap out of her little trance.
"Oh, yeah, I'm fine, just got a feeling about something, that's all," Rainbow said, with her usual cocky smile. Twilight gave her a suspicious look but soon shrugged it off, as it just because Rainbow Dash was Rainbow Dash.
"Alright, whatever you say," Twilight stated, as they left to find their other friends.
Rainbow Dash, along with her friends, we're all gathered in an opened field. Each of them had a look of curiosity.
"Darling, how will we get to this, "Other World" again?" Rarity asked, and Twilight walked up to her.
"All we have to do, is use this spell, and then we should be there, is everypony ready?" Twilight asked, and her friends all gave her a nod of approval. "Alright, let's use the spell then." As she said this, her horn glowed with a bright purple light surrounded them, as they all turned into nothing but white light, as they slowly vanished into thin air.
In The Human World.....
Rainbow Dash, began to slowly wake up. Rainbow Dash sat up and rubbed her head.
"Ow, what happened?" Rainbow Dash asked as she looked around the area she found herself in. "Where is this place?" It seemed like some sort of park, that was empty, with no one around at all. "Hello? Is anypony out there?" She called out, hoping that someone would answer, but the only response she got was the silence.
"Where did my friends go?" Rainbow asked herself, frantically looking around. She was a brave pony, but not even she wanted to be alone in this strange and new world. Everything around her seemed so much different. The building was built differently, there were these black paved things outside of the park that had a yellow line shooting down the middle of them.
"Maybe I can find somepony to help me, I hope," Rainbow said to herself, as she began to make her way out of the park. As she walked out, she saw a figure, who was holding something by its ear area. Rainbow walked up to him, slowly, not sure whether she could trust him or not. She never saw anything like him before.
"Look, just get it down by tomorrow, I already got enough on my plate, so just try to help me out here please..." The man said with frustration. Rainbow was confused, thinking that he was just talking to himself. She hesitantly taped his back.
"Excuse me, sir, I'm a bit.." Rainbow was cut off when the man turned around and just stood there. There was an awkward silence between them before the man spoke up.
"What the... what are you...?" He asked, not moving a muscle
"Umm, I'm a pony and my name is Rainbow Dash," Rainbow said.
"Oh my god! Its an actual talking pony!" The man shouted, grabbing the attention of the other people around him. The all walked up to her, shocked and surprised that she was there. That's when Rainbow became a little uncomfortable.
"I'm a talking pony, so what?" Rainbow asked, and they all began to run up to her, with their phones out, taking pictures. Rainbow backed up a bit.
"Stay back! Get away from me!" Rainbow shouted as she began to fly off in the opposite direction than them. As she flew, she looked for a safe place to hide, from the ever-growing mob of people. She soon found an ally way, that seemed like no one was in. She quickly flew in it and hid behind a dumpster.
"I... I think I lost them....." Rainbow said. Her thoughts were soon interrupted when she heard the sound of something. It was crying. She wasn't sure if she should try to find out what exactly was crying, or just fly off. Something inside her told her to check out what the crying was, and where it was coming from.
"Hello? Is somepony there?" Rainbow asked to whoever was crying. The crying got a little quieter, but not by a lot.
"W-who's there?" The tiny voice asked. Rainbow could tell that the voice feared her. She wasn't really that great with these types of situations.
"Hey, I'm not going to hurt you kid," Rainbow said, trying to sound reassuring. "I'm friendly." She heard some shuffling coming from somewhere in the ally. She then saw the tiny figure of a human child walk out of the darkened alley. Rainbow was shocked to see that he was in such poor conditions.
"Are..... You a p-pony...?" He asked, with some unsureness in his voice.
"Yeah." Rainbow Dash said. "My name is Rainbow Dash, and I'm the fastest flyer in all of Equestria, do you have a name?" The boy nodded.
"Yeah... My name is Drake...I'm, five" Drake said. Now that Rainbow knew his name, she wanted to know why he was out in the ally all alone.
"Kid..... Why aren't you with your parents?" Rainbow asked. Drake cringed at the thought.
"Well, I live with my dad, but he.... he isn't very nice to me. He wanted me to clean our entire house in less than an hour. I can't do that, it's impossible! So when he left, I decided to come here" Drake said. Instantly, Rainbow began getting bad vibes from this.
"What do you mean, by "Not nice?" Rainbow questioned.
"He's just really mean sometimes, I guess," Drake said. "How can you talk?" Rainbow chuckled a bit at the question.
"Where I'm from, almost everypony can talk," Rainbow said. "I'm trying to find my other friends that came with me here, but I had no such luck yet." Drake thought about something.
"Maybe... If you want..... You can come to stay with me at my house if that's okay with you." Drake said. "It's probably better than staying out in the cold." Rainbow thought about it.
It has to be better than being out in the cold, right? Plus, those other creatures are just too much to handle Rainbow thought to herself, as she looked back at the child.
"Sure, we can crash at your place, until I have to leave to find my friends," Rainbow said. Drake smiled at her.
"Okay..... My house is this way..." He said, pointing in that direction. They began to walk to the house.
This kid says his dad's mean to him... How mean could he be...? Rainbow asked herself in her thoughts, as they made their way down the road
Rainbow Maned Guardian (Redux)
As Rainbow Dash and Drake walked back to his house, they made a short conversation, which was mostly about themselves. Rainbow talked about Daring Do books, whilst Drake talked about how he wasn't that big of a fan of school. Something that they both mostly agreed with.
"Yeah, I was never that big of a fan of school either," Rainbow replied, feeling like Drake was getting more comfortable around her. "But, my friend Twilight says that school is important, which I guess I can kind of agree with." Drake let out a sigh.
"Yeah," He replied. "It's just boring to me and I don't like the people there..." Rainbow was about to ask why he didn't like them, but before she could, he cut her off. "We're here." He pointed forward and what Rainbow saw made her face turn into confusion.
"So... This is your house?" Rainbow asked, looking up at the place Drake said he lived at. The house looked old, dirty, had a lot of broken windows. The house barely looked like it wasn't in any condition to live in at all.
"Yeah... It's really not that great." Drake admitted. This made Rainbow Dash go uneasy.
A dad that isn't too nice, living in a house like this...... There is something going on, I'm going to find out what. Rainbow thought to herself. She looked down at Drake, who was trying to get the door opened. Rainbow didn't know why, but she felt like she needed to protect this child somehow.
Why is his father "Mean" to him and why does this house look unstable. What if there's something going on here. If there is... and if he is in danger, I wonder if he would like to come back to Equestria... Rainbow thought to herself, before quickly shaking those thoughts away. He would probably just want to stay here anyway. Besides, I just met the kid not even an hour ago. Her thoughts were interrupted when she heard the sound of the door clicking open.
"Finally, sometimes this thing doesn't want to open...." Drake said as he looked at the door, with an annoyed look. Rainbow hovered next to him.
"Are you sure it's alright if I stay here, kid?" Rainbow asked, and Drake nodded.
"Of course it is... My dad would probably get mad, but you could just hide when he gets back," Drake replied, as they both walked into the house. Rainbow was still uneasy. She tried to shrug it off, but it was too hard to do so.
"Wow...." Was all that Rainbow could manage. The house was a complete wreck. Beer bottles were scattered all over the place, the furniture was broken, there was broken glass on the floor, along with a frame of a picture. She picked up the picture, and saw a man, with a girl. They both looked happy.
"Are these your parents?" Rainbow asked, and Drake nodded.
"Yeah, that's when my dad was happy..." Drake said. He remembered that one night. His first birthday. His father told him that his mother couldn't handle giving birth to him and because of that, she had passed on.
"Kid is it just you and your dad....?" Rainbow asked, even though she already had a feeling what the answer was.
"Yeah, why do you ask?" Drake asked, and Rainbow shrugged.
"Just curious, I guess," Rainbow replied. Her stomach then let out a small growl, indicating that she was hungry, and needed food. Rainbow blushed with embarrassment. "Sorry, I guess I'm a little hungry." Drake nodded.
"Want me to make you some nachos?" Drake asked, and Rainbow gave him a confused look.
"Sure." Rainbow Dash said.
"Well, I can make some for you, if you want...." Drake said, with a warm smile. Rainbow thought about it. She was hungry. It might be good for her.
"Sure, kid," Rainbow said simply. Drake smiled, as he went into the kitchen, and got out the small bag of chips. He got a bag of some cheese, what little was left, he only had the bowl kind. He opened the ziplock bag, but before he did anything with it, he dumped some of the chips on the back, before sprinkling the cheese on them. He put it in the microwave for forty seconds.
Once done, he grabbed the bowl and brought it over to Rainbow, who was now sitting at the kitchen table. She stared at him, with shock in her eyes. He was really good at cooking.
"Wow, this looks good," Rainbow commented, as she started to the cheesy nachos. Drake just smiled, thanking her for the compliment. She picked up a piece of the meal, before taking a tase
"Kid, this is one of the most awesome things I have ever eaten!" Rainbow said, with a huge smile present on her face.
"I'm really glad you like it," Drake said, with another smile. Dash took another bite, then another, then another, until it was all gone. Rainbow looked down at her chest and saw she had gotten some crumbs on herself.
"Sorry, I guess I've gotten some on myself," Rainbow said, with an embarrassed smile. "Do you have a restroom that I can use?" Drake nodded and pointed to the third door on the right. "Thanks," Rainbow said, as she dashed off to the door. When she stood in front of the door, she felt something under her hooves.
"Is this mold...?" Rainbow asked herself, disgust filled her as she flapped her wings so she wouldn't have to stand on it. This made her nervous to see what was inside the bathroom. But once she was inside she was shocked.
The bathroom wasn't a complete mess, in fact, it was really clean.
"Wow, this is a..." Rainbows voice trailed off, once she looked at the mirror. There was a giant crack in it, with some dry blood on it. Rainbow let out a little gasp, before having a determined look on her face. "I'm going to have a little "Talk" with Drakes father," Rainbow said. Even she knew this was no conditions for a child, even if he was a different species.
Meanwhile, Drake was waiting in the kitchen, when he heard a noise that he feared every day. His dad's pickup truck. He looked at the door, with horror in his eyes, as his father burst the door open. Rainbow heard the burst and looked at the source. She couldn't see it, but she could tell that it was a door being forced open by someone.
"There you are..." The voice of a middle-aged male said.
"Dad..." Drake said before Rainbow heard a sudden smack and a thud.
"I thought I told you to clean this damn house, but as usual, I see you were being lazy again," He shouted. Rainbow peeked her head out of the bathroom, seeing Drake's father, with Drake who was holding his cheek. He noticed that his "Date" wasn't with him. This must have ticked him off.
"How do you expect me to clean this entire house?!" Drake asked. "Even I can see that this place is falling apart-"
"Shut up!" His father replied, cutting him off. Rainbow could just only stand there in shock. She's never seen anything like this before. His father went to the table and grabbed a pair of scissors. "I don't care how much I'll have to clean up after this, at least you won't be here anymore." Rainbow felt red flags in her. Then his father used the scissors to slash his face. Then Rainbow felt a wave of flaring anger in her.
"HEY!" She shouted, grabbing his attention. He didn't have time to react, as he was suddenly punched square in the face by Rainbow. He fell back, with shock clear on his face. He looked up and saw an enraged Rainbow Dash.
"What the-" He didn't have time to finish, as he was punched again, making him fall back once more.
"You sick disgust! How could you do that to your own son?!" Rainbow asked, looking at him, with a glare saying that she would have no problem killing him there. As she got closer, Drakes Father became more panicked. He looked at the small table that was next to him and saw the plate that he left there the previous night. He picked it up and smashed it against Rainbows head.
She fell back, with pain emanating from the side of her head. Drakes father got on her and began to choke her. Rainbow, still stunned by the plate, couldn't do anything about it. Drake saw this and looked at the floor. He only saw one thing that was useful. The pair of scissors
"I must have drunk too much, that doesn't matter though, I'll still kill you!" Drake father said. Rainbow was getting some of her strength back, but suddenly, she heard a noise and felt his grip loosen. She looked up and saw a look of horror, and pain on his face. Rainbow then noticed that Drake was behind him, and she noticed the scissors in his hands.
His father fell back, as the injury to his lower back caused great pain. However, that did not stop trying to get up again. Rainbow, knowing that she had to get out of there, quickly went up to Drake.
"Kid, get on my back." She said. Drake did as she said, and got on her back, as she flew out of the house, Drake still had the weapon he used to stab his father with.
