Vinyl pushed her shades up her muzzle as she sank into her seat. She was incredibly tired from the night before. I don't blame her. Preforming 7 hours straight at the Grand Galloping Gala was hard work. At least she had me there a few rooms away, at least she knew a friendly face was there. That Gala was insane. I snapped back into reality again and watched Vinyl grab a black hoodie from inside her carry on bag and slip it on. She closed her eyes and tried to get comfortable in the train seat. Her glasses slipped down her muzzle just a little so if she opened her eyes, I would be able to see what magnificent color they were.
Vinyl felt her glasses slip down and she pushed them back up a moment later. I could faintly see the outline of an eye open and caught me staring. I blushed and looked away, and I could sense even through the glasses that she was rolling her eyes. It looked like she closed them again trying to get some sleep. Before she drifted off, Vinyl propped her legs up onto mine and gave me a small smile.
I looked out the window to see that the Pegasi were closing up the sky. I think that means we're in for a storm. I sighed and looked at Vinyl again to see her peacefully dosing in the train seat. I continued to look at her, but i was thinking of something totally different. Why were we going to Ponyville? What does she possibly here. We have everything we need in Canterlot! I considered waking Vinyl up to ask her, but that pony was not to be messed with, and especially not to be woken up by anypony but herself.
Vinyl had an interesting personality. She was really sweet and and nice and all but if you got on her bad side you would be in for a treat. It's like she unleashed a force of a thousand suns onto one single pony. I once slapped her flank in a fight once and she had me on the ground faster than I could blink. Vinyl would get right in my face and give this big twisted grin and would let me go when I thought she was going to kill me. That's another story. Otherwise from that, Vinyl was messy and when I asked her to clean she would always do a half-assed job. Other than that she was your run of the mill Dj pony.
Growing tired myself I too fell asleep on the train. When I woke up Vinyl was tapping my shoulder, kinda hard and she looked like she was in a hurry. I looked around to see what she was so worried about. I glanced around the train then out the window, huh we were already at the train station for Ponyville. I looked back up at Vinyl to see her standing on her hind legs, towering over me. She had both her front hooves on my shoulders, then she got in my face again. Oh Celestia was she going to do that insane crazy smile that scared me a lot?
Vinyl took a breath in and got into my face and it felt like she was looking my right in the eye. In fact, I could see the outlines of her eyes but not the color, which I swore was magenta! Would she ever take off those damned glasses? Vinyl opened her mouth, and instead of insane smiling she belted out as loud as possible...
"IF WE DON"T GET OFF THIS TRAIN NOW WE ARE GOING TO MISS THE PONYVILLE STOP! WE NEED TO GET OFF N-O-W!"
That was all it took for me to get all of my stuff and race off the train in 10 seconds flat. After that I couldn't breath steadily, and shaky. Like I said, Vinyl Scratch is not one to cross.
The two of us walked through Ponyville, Vinyl looking around and seeing nothing interesting. She looked how she usually looked, only a little more quiet. I was confused for a moment there, but the sights around me broke my train of thought. A mass variety of colors and shapes filled my entire view. Everywhere I turned I would see vibrant colors of buildings, stands, clothing and even ponies! A huge smile broke onto my face. I know Canterlot was high class and everything I could ask for, but there was something about Ponyville that screamed "Octavia!".
Maybe it was the classic, cottagy feel the whole place gave me. Or maybe it was the amount of music ponies. My jaw dropped. Or maybe it was amount of music stores this place had! I almost exploded right then and there! I've never seen so many music stores in an area! I jumped up and down, then quickly stopped, forgeting where I was or what I was doing. Looking and feeling embarrassed, I picked up my things and searched around for Vinyl Scratch. Oh no, she must have gone on, not realizing I wasn't following her! Panicking I went to the nearest pony and asked where Vinyl's house was.
Turns out the nearest pony was Lyra? I think that's what her name was? I trotted over to her and dropped the things from my mouth so I could speak.
"Excuse me? Lyra?" I said.
"Octavia? Oh hey! I didn't know you were coming to town! Is there something I can help you with?" the bubbly light green unicorn asked.
"Well actually yes, do you know where Vinyl's house is?" I replied, hoping she would know the answer.
"Of course I do! But I'm not good at explaining directions, so I'll just walk you there."
"Sounds good! Thank you kindly Lyra."
I picked up my things once more and we trotted of to Vinyl's house. When we got there, it felt like we were as far from town as possible. I had kept my head down the entire time but we had been walking and trotting for at least twenty minutes. When I finally looked up I was shocked. The whole house was rundown and the windows were boarded up. I looked over at Lyra and her shock of expression was a little bit later then what I had expected.
"Oh horseapples! I forgot I was doing something with Bon Bon in 5 minutes! Geez I'm sorry Octavia, but I gotta dash! We'll catch up sometime with Vinyl!" Lyra said as she galloped back to Ponyville. Her last words hung my head for a moment. "catch up with Vinyl!" Right! Of course, I had forgot about Vinyl Scratch! Oh silly me, I'd forget my head if it wasn't attached to my neck which was attached to my body!
I turned around, picked up my things once more, climbed up the porch and just as I was about to enter, I stopped dead in my tracks. Something was staring at me. I quickly looked around then out of the corner of my eye I saw it. A pair of crimson red eyes was staring right on at me, right into my soul.
