A Horror She Can't Drink Away
The mile trek from the station to Sugarcube Corner was longer than Twilight had remembered it to be. Of course she hadn't set foot in the place in over 3 years and she pondered on what had changed about it. As they got closer the giant cupcake Pinkie had made years ago towered above the tiny, and very badly beaten store. The years had not been kind to Pinkie, nor anyone in Ponyville for that matter. Ever since the murders started happening from Manehattan to Las Pegasus, everyone in Ponyville worried about when they would start happening closer to home. Stores would close in the middle of the day, no one would be outside by around 4:00 p.m., hell no one would care to even help a stranger nowadays. Complete and utter entropy would ensue if the police force crumbled.
No sooner than Twilight could step one single hoof through the door, a pink blot of lightning swooped by dragging the two startled ponies in with it.
"Pinkie! What the hay was that for?" Twilight yelled at the bright pink pony's face hanging inches from her own.
"Twilight, what are you doing outside this late at night! Are you a crazy pony or do you want to get killed!"
"Dammit Pinkie Pie, how many times do i have to spell it out. No pony is going to die just from walking outside at 3 in the damn morning!!" She didn't mean to yell at her like that, but who hadn't she yelled at over the past few days. This is what no sleep can do to a pony.
"Ugh, fine. But i don't want to be scrapping you up from the sidewalk, i may do weird and disgusting things but i have my limits. So what brings you two down here so early. Do you want some of my giant cupcake? I mean i know its edible and all but i just don't feel comfortable letting ponies eat it, well maybe this time, no or yes, maybe i don't know. I guess i could beca-"
"Sorry to interrupt your uhh.....rant and all, Pinkie, but we don't have much time. Just get us a couple of somethings and some whiskey."
"Ok!" The pink bolt once more almost knocked her down as it darted towards the kitchen. Twilight sighed remembering the good days, also remembering that she was a recovering alcoholic and whiskey was the very last thing she needed.
Buck It
Pinkie returned moments later carrying two bottles of Applejack Daniels and what looked like a mix of a cake,a muffin and a waffle covered in hay bacon and apple jam. It was something alright
"Here you go, and don't worry about the cost...its on the house."
"Thanks." Twilight sat down. She didn't plan to fondle around with the two shot glasses the were already there and took one long swig from the bottle
"Twilight, should you really be drinking? I mean you have been sober for almost 5 months now, so why give up on it?" Maelstrom thoughtfully asked worried about a repeat of the last time she had gotten drunk and woke up next to Pinkie two days later. That sight still haunted her young filly mind, partly from seeing Twilight in bed with another mare and partly from jealousy.
"I'll be fine, its just alil to calm my nerves." before she even finished speaking the first bottle was down and gone. They sat in silence as she drank her sorrows away. 7 bottles in less than an hour was still not enough for her, she was hell bent on drowning her feelings in it and not waking up.
She passed out for about 20 minutes dreaming abut the time before Spike died when she was supposed to. All she had left was the scale around her neck but it was enough to know that she had made her promise and would stop this murderous bitch before she died. No matter what it took
CRASH! The horrid sound of metal scrapping the side of the building was enough to jolt Twilight awake from her drunken slumber.
"TWILIGHT! YOU THERE!!" She sighed and went to the window. The gray and blonde mail pony was jammed into the wall covered in twigs and stamps.
"Derpy, what are you doing out this late and more importantly why are you looking for me?"
"TWILIGHT YOU GOT SOMETHING! I TRIED TO FIND YOU BUT YOU WEREN'T AT HOME OR WORK SO I LOOKED ALL OVER FOR YOU!" She wiggled herself free and flew carefully over to the lavender unicorn. No matter how long she had known Derpy her eyes still bothered Twilight. They were beautiful but you could never tell who she was looking at or listening to. The pegasus reached into her satchel and handed her a small box and a tape recorder before flying off and crashing into another building.
Twilight looked at the tape recorder in fear. She knew who it was from, but why did it get to her. A small tape fell from the box as she opened it and she immediately put it in the recorder and played it.
"Hello Twilight. I would like to play a game. Over the past few years you have been looking for me day in and day out, always searching and for what? Nothing but vengeance for your fallen comrade, not caring about the other ponies who i have been giving second chances to. But now, it is your turn to care for the others and see what's more important to you, your friends or revenge. You have 7 days to figure out the puzzle i have left before all the ponies you care for are...put to the test. Will you save your friends and hide your hatred, or will you drown in the sorrows of your own trials. Look in the envelope taped to the box. You have 7 days. Let the games begin."
Twilight dropped the recorder and immediately turned over the box. Just as the tape had said there was an envelope taped to it, but it was soaked red with blood. She slowly opened it and removed its contents....
She screamed as a chunk of flesh landed on the ground.
The image of a magic wand with pixie dust adorned the azure coated flesh. Next to it laid a picture of Applejack and Apple Bloom with Ponyville Hospital painted in blood on the back.
