To Mend a Broken Heart - Ch. 1
I let out a slight sigh as I look out the train’s window, watching nothing but hills and mountains pass by. I feel something, well rather someone lay on top of my lap. I look down at the pony invading my peronal bubble with stoic look. I come to find Private Rose looking up at me with the same half lidded eye look she always gives me. Her cheeks tinted rosy as my icy blue eyes lock on to her green slitted emerald eyes.
“You seem to be spacing out a lot Captain Yutani. Is there something, or somepony on your mind? Maybe that somepony being me?~” She says seductively as her tongue slides across her lips.
I turn my attention back out the window and let out a grunt of annoyance. “Like you’ll ever be on my mind. You’ll be the last pony to be ever on my mind” I reply coldy.
Rose giggles at my rudeness. “Ooooh~” she moans out. “So cold captain. Your voice just sends pleasurable chills all over my body. I might not be able to hold myself back any longer if you keep that act up.” She runs her hands up my stomach and chest.
I narrow my eyes at her, which gets her to stop. “Get it together private. We are not here to mess around, do you understand?” I snap at her.
She just pouts and grumbles like a child. She turns away from me, but still lays on my lap. I don’t mind at all as long at she behaves and keeps her hands to herself. I reposition my look back out the window once again and begin with my thoughts.
So... the princesses told me to go on a mission, but the mission was to “cure my wounded heart, and to rid of my past” therefore; I have no damn clue what they meant by that.
I let out a tired sigh as I shift uncomfortably on my seat. Honestly, I didn’t know that the princesses knew how I was feeling. To be honest, I thought I was keeping my emotions in check pretty well. Maybe I should try and follow the princesses advice in opening up more to others. I mean I’m alreay opening up to the private who is currently laying on my lap. For some reason I’ve allowed to let this aggravating batpony lay herself on my lap. So far, I’ve only let the princesses do that. That goes to show that I’m opening up to people, right? Though, Rose is always hitting on me and touching me. She follows orders accordingly and doesn’t disobey any order I give her. She’s also a very skillful guard for just being a low rank. She’s got potential in being a captain some day, but just not today or any other day for that matter.
My thoughts are soon interrupted by someone’s grabby hand. My eye twitches in irritation as she thinks that I’ll let her cop a feel. I lightly lay a hand on her shoulder, this gets her to jump lightly and turns to look over her shoulder slowly, almost scared to see me. She should be.
My magical engery surrounds me as I let my magic flex out. My eyes are on hers, I just smile sweetly at her, making her feel on edge now.
“Rose,” I say dangerously sweet to her, a vein bugling from my forehead. My hand grips her shoulder tightly and I hear her squeal in fear. “Do that again and I’ll have your ass demoted and sent back to boot camp, is that’s cystral clear?”
She sits up straight and nods her head quickly. I then let go my aura of magic and settle myself against the trains seat.
“Geez Cap, you don’t have to be so mean and scary.” She says as she rubs her aching shoulder. “I just wanted to feel on how much your packing.” She then gives me those bedroom eyes again as gets on all fours and licks her lips. “And I gotta say, your built like a dragon.”
I pinch the bride of my nose, letting a sigh out as an oncoming headache is soon to arrive.
“This gonna be a long ride to Ponyville.” I mumble out.
Then a whisper is heard to the right of my ear. “It won’t be long if we do something fun~” Rose says, moaning in my ear.
I snap my eyes on to her. “Sit.Your.Ass.Down. And behave yourself. NOW!”
Rose ’mphs’ and crosses her arms under her chest, pouting away like a kid who was told no many times by their parent. I know for a fact that this is going to be a tiresome ride.
Two Hours Later
Arrival: Ponyville
I and Rose step off the train as we both take a quick stretch. I breath in some air and let out a calm breathe. I feel a tap on my shoulder and I know all to well who it is. I don’t even have to turn around as I look around the train station. “What is it private?”
“I was going to ask why you brought your weapon with you? I mean we are on military leave sir.”
I give her a side glance and answer back, “You always gotta be prepared for the worst case scenarios. Does that answer your question?”
She hums thoughtfully and nods her head. “I guess, but you don’t gotta be on edge Cap, we’re in Ponyville for crying out loud. Nothing ever bad happens here.”
I shake my head for her jinxing it. “Never say never, and good job for jinxing it.”
I prepare to walk out of the station, but stop and secure my pistol to the holster on my right thigh. “Alright Rose, lets move out.”
“Aye, sir!” She cheers with a smile, and falls on in beside me.
We calmly walk out of the train station and walk into the shopping distract of Ponyville. I look around and spot different types of species going about their day. I spot ponies, gryphons, minotaurs, and even dragons coexisting together. I was a little surprised to see this. Back then it didn’t use to look like this at all. Gryphons didn’t like ponies for dumb reasons, which goes for the dragons as well. The minotaurs have been always cool with the ponies, it just the minotaurs are tough race, so they just want to make the ponies tough like them. I highly agree. The ponies are to soft and carefree. I seen it first hand when I first started off as a royal guard. The guards were pathetic. Simple as that. But that’s just Celestia’s Solar guards. Now, the Lunar guards, which are Luna’s, they’re more tougher than the solar guards. That’s why I have Rose as my companion, because she’s great in combat and has my back. Though, she still needs work, like learning how to know personal space and keeping her hands to herself.
My eyes sweep around the shopping district once more, quickly taking note that a lot of the people around here are staring my way. That’s what I thought anyways, but then I noticed they were looking at something behind me. I stop in my tracks, which Rose does the same and looks up at me with raised brow.
“What’s up, Yutani? Why’d we stop, we’re, like almost to Princess Twilight’s castle.”
My ears fold back at the sound of footsteps coming up behind us. Rose’s ears perk up at the last second and she turns around with her eyes narrowed, knowing all to well what the situation is going to be. I look her way and spot that her muscles are tense. Then a cocky voice is heard, which really got on my nerve.
“So, your that punk ass guard who think he’s all hot and shit, Captain Yutani, is that right?”
I let out a annoyed sigh, but I don’t reply to the asshole who’s referring to me. “See Rose, you fucking jinxed it.” I look over my shoulder and spot a red scaled male dragon with a smug look on his. To the sides of the male dragon is a female pony with the same exact look and a female dragoness with blue scales. Thought the dragoness look annoyed for some reason.
I fully turn my attention towards the trio, and cross my arms across my chest. “And if I am that guard?”
“Then I challenge you to a fight for your rank.” The male dragon exclaims broadly.
The people who have quickly surrounded us, making a circle, just look at each other for a second and laughter erupts around the crowd. The smug dragon looks around angrily at the people surrounding us. He then starts to cuss out everyone with a harsh tone. The people here in Ponyville know me pretty well when I first came here. Almost everyone knows of me cause of the heroic acts that I have down. You can say I’m pretty famous for what I do. Also, Ponyville is a peaceful and quiet town, but it’s not always quiet, sadly.
The male dragon then starts to get really mad at the laughter that keeps roaring on. I then quickly spot him inhaling air and see that his throat starts to glow red. That’s a sign of him readying to spew some fire. I act quickly. I take a step toward him, and in a flash I’m front of him with my fist drilled into his gut. The fire is spewed up into the air, where no one gets harmed. The dragon falls back onto the dirt floor out-cold.
The two that were with him looked on shocked. The female pony rushed to his side shaking him to get up. The female dragoness didn’t do the same, instead she walked up to me and stood right infront of me. She was about my height, so our eyes locked on to one another. We kept up are staring contest for awhile, and a smile adorned her scaly face.
“I’m glad somepony put that douche in his place.” She giggles cutely.
Before I can reply, six figures rush past the crowd and stop adruptly as they spot me. I look their way an a small smile appears on my face. “Hey girls, what took you so long to get here? I thought you would of ha— Oof!” The six girls all crash into me, almost knocking me down in the process. They all have me wrapped in hug.
A small chuckle escapes my lips at how touchy ponies can be.
To Mend a Broken Heart - Ch. 2
After the whole ordeal with that dragon and having a small reunion with the girls, Twlight sent the guy off with two guards escorting him to who knows where. Not like if I cared. The two females that were with him just looked on. The mare was by his side the whole time they were escorting the guy away and the dragoness, well she gave me a wink and left to catch up with her buddies. I didn’t know how to respond.
Right at this very moment, the girls are scolding me for not keeping in touch with them, via magically sending letters to them. I told them that it was getting busy around the castle, because of new recruits coming in to become a Solar Guard or Lunar Guard. They soon calmed down with the scolding and understood why. They were just worried that I had forgotten about them. That in turn made me smile at how soft and caring these girls are. Rose seen my smile twice now, which surprised her. She started to get all over me, telling me that I should smile more cause it makes me look ten times hotter. I just ignored her as usual.
Now, on to the question that you guys are thinking, how did I meet the main six? That’s not the question you guys were thinking about? Hmm.
Anyways, how I met the main six. It’s actually a long story on how I met them, so I’ll make the story quick and short.
It was a couple of months into the time I appeared into Equestria. I was getting use to living at Canterlot and getting use to my new body. When I arrived to Equestria, my body magically changed to live here. Though, I kept some traits from my human body, like my canines, scars, and tattoos. Also, some of my stuff that I had on me came with me too. I had my gear that I had from my marine days, my iPhone, and my wallet. Damn, losing focus! Back to the main topic.
I was getting use to the living in Equestria and serving under the princesses. They had given me a task to open up with others, and to rid of the ache within me, which was kind of hard due to the situation I and Celestia went through.
*sigh*
That’s another story for another time. Again, back to the main topic. Anyways, they assigned me to go to Ponyville and to choose someone to go with me. Guess who I chose? Yeah, that damn pervy crazed mare, Rose. I don’t regret choosing her though, because she’s a great asset to me. Also, I feel a lot closer to her. Not as in close as in relationship close, more like... close friends. Rose, the girls, and Luna have been the only ones I can really open up to. When it comes to other people—er... ponies, it’s kind of hard due to the backstabbing and mistrusting people I’ve met throughout my life. I’ve only trusted them, because they were the most impact in my life here. They’ve helped me out when no one else wouldn’t. They even dealt with my rudeness and bullshit I put them through. They have my respect.
That’s my task. To open up more to others. Honestly, this is going to be a bitch cause of old habits. Gotta try though, right?
The crew and I arrive at the castle of Twilight’s. When we arrived and got inside I noticed that Fluttershy, the shy one of the six, was being very clingy. The whole walk to the castle she had her arms wrapped around my arm. I asked her what’s wrong, but all she did was let out this meek squeal and hide her blushing face. I asked the girls, but they said it was just Fluttershy being Fluttershy. I went with the answer so I didn’t bother going into it anymore. Rose seeing Fluttershy so close to me started to get grabby again. She started to hold on to my other arm and caress it. I didn’t let her continue, because it started to get on my nerves on how she was touching me. I snap at her like I always do when she does this, and like on the train, she pouts like a child and crosses her arms.
Once inside we gather around and sit down on some comfy couches. The girls all sit together as I sit one sitter chair. Rose thought it was funny to sit on my lap, but I wasn’t having any of her bullshit. I magically sit her ass on an open sit and tell her to stay. This got the girls to giggle at the angry pouting face of Rose. Then the whole mood changed quickly, which I knew what the girls all wanted to know, so... I prepare myself. I dig through one of the many pockets in my cargo pants and pull out a packet of cigarettes. I tap it on the palm of my hand and out pops out a cigarette stick.
I put it to my mouth and before I can even light it, I get stares of disapproval from the girls, including Rose.
Rainbow Dash, is the first to speak up. “I thought you were quitting?”
And with that, the girls started to tell me how bad it is and all that shit that I know already.
I sigh as a puff of smoke floats around, but camouflages with the air itself after. “Listen girls, I know you don’t it like, but you know why I do it.” The girls then quickly stop their bickering as they remember why I couldn’t stop. I know I told them that I will try and stop, but... I just can’t. I look towards the girls, “Please don’t tell Barb about this. I know she’ll be more on my a-....”
“Yutani!” A loud young voice calls out to me.
Upon hearing that voice, I incinerate the cigarette and use some magic to rid of any oder of smoke. I catch the kid stomping over to me with her fists clenched in anger and her slitted eyes narrowed at me. She gets in front of me and pokes me in the chest with her clawed finger.
“You think you could hide the scent of smoke from me? I smelt it from the moment you lit it!” She exclaims loudly.
A bunch of playful ‘ooo’s’ go around by some of the girls as Barb begins one of her lectures, but of course I stop her before she can start it. “Look kid, I only smoke once a month, and smoking doesn’t-..”
“Don’t give me that crap again about “it doesn’t affect me”. I’ve heard it to many times!” I was about to argue that, but she stops me with a hand in my face. “And it doesn’t matter if you just smoke once a month.”
I groan in annoyance as I rub my hands on my face. I don’t know how I let this fifteen-year-old kid talk me down like this. A snort is heard to the right me. I peek through my fingers to see who it is and it’s not surprising to see Rose trying to hold her laugh in. I know it isn’t everyday that you see a kid talking a grown ass man down about how smoking being bad for your health. I groan even louder as Rose bursts out laughing at the sight of me. She won’t let this down for me and I know it. This gets the other girls to follow a long with her, while Barb has her arms crossed and shakes her head at me.
“See what you have caused kid, now this one over here,” I point at Rose who has tears in her eyes from laughing so hard, “is not going to let it down for me.”
“I don’t care. Maybe it will remind you that smoking is unhealthy, and stop calling me kid! I’m fifteen now!”
“Yeah, yeah.” I finally say.
A few knocks are heard from the door, and the laughing slowly starts to die down. Twilight is the one to get up and heads to the door. “I think that might be the guys!” She says rather excitedly.
“More people.” I say begrudgingly.
“Dude don’t sweat it. They’re our coltfriends, and we want you to meet them.” Rainbow says.
This got my attention rather quickly. My attention shoots straight to Barb, which she doesn’t seem to be looking my way now. Her posture is timid now as she plays with her hair.
“You guys have boyfriends? Why have I not been informed of this earlier?” My questions aren’t answered as Twilight opens the door. Six individuals step into the castle, three I already know and the rest I don’t know. The ones I know that are here are Big Mac, Flash Sentry, and Soarin. The rest of them I’ve seen around town but I don’t know their names.
“Hey, we heard you girls laughing pretty loud from outside the castle. Mind filling... us.....in?” Flash Sentry is the one to notice me as he stares wide eyed at me.
The other guys notice their friend freeze up. “Hey partner, what’s the matter? Can’t contain yer excitement?” A orange colored stallion with a stetson hat says with a chuckle. This gets his other buddies to chuckle with him.
I get up off the couch and stand up to full height. I see Flash start to sweat a little.
“C-C-Captain, sir!” He salutes me. “I didn’t k-know you w-would be here, sir!” Flash stands at attention with a shakey posture.
“Captain?” The other guys say in unison. They then look my way, and to my surprise the new guys I didn’t know give me fearful looks. This gets me a small smirk to appear on my face, but I don’t let the guys see it.
I walk towards the group of stallions and stand right in front of them, towering over them expect for one, Big Mac. Me and him stand at the same height. He doesn’t get intimidated by my approach because he knows me already and how I am.
The two three new guys slowly start to back up behind Big Mac. Then Big Mac a just shakes his head at the fearful stallions.
“So,” I start, “Your the guys dating the girls that I’m suppose be protecting.” Five of the guys start to sweat profoundly. Big Mac is the only one who just watches on with a smile.
I take a step forward towards them and they haul ass back behind the stocky red stallion. I flex out my magic making them even more on edge. By doing that, it made Big Mac a little nervous now. I was about to continue but Apple Jack is the one to interrupt my fun.
“Stop scaryin’ them already! Your going make them wet themselves.” She says with giggle, which gets the other girls to do the same.
I let my magic die down as I return to my seat. “Alright, Alright. Sorry about that you guys, I was just trying to have a little fun.” I say with no emotion and a straight face. “And at ease you two.” I say looking at Soarin and Flash Sentry. “I’m off duty right now so no saluting or getting nervous around me. Just relax and...,” I narrow my eye to them, “don’t do anything to upset these girls. Is that clear?”
The two stand at attention once more and nod their head rapidly. I nod my head as a small smirk adornes my face.
A gentle smack is laid on my leg. “You gotta stop being so mean to them, Yutani. That isn’t cool.” Barb says with a pout on her face.
I put my hands up, “Ok, ok. My bad.” I say with a smile. I look towards the group of guys who still hide behind Big Mac. “My apologies, I was just wanting to see how you guys would react.” I say with a small chuckle.
Then Soarin and Flash shoot me wide eyes of surprise and I think I know why. Soarin is the one to speak out first. “Whoa.” He says at first. “Captain Yutani, this is the first of me seeing you smile, or even laugh for that matter.”
“I’ve seen him smile once before.” Flash Sentry says with a nod. “I’ve heard that it’s super rare to see you smile Cap, but then I heard you stopped after some incident that happened when you were at Canterlot. Why exactly happened sir?” He asks a bit worried.
I let out a tired sigh at question, but I don’t get upset with him for asking. Then I can feel the mood shift suddenly as I feel everyone’s curious eyes on me. I look around and see everyone with not just curiosity but worry as well.
I shake my head at this. “Don’t worry about it. It was awhile back. That’s not relevant ri-...” A soft hand is laid on my shoulder. I look over to see Fluttershy looking up at me with a sad look. “Yutani remember, your here to open up to ponies. Maybe this a good idea to start now.”
She has a point. No point in arguing and making a big scene and hurting Fluttershy’s feelings.
I sigh, which feels like the one-thousandth time this day. I give everyone a hard, which startles them. “What I’m going to tell you now is going to stay in this room and only in this room. Do I make myself clear?”
Everyone nods there head nervously. Twilight then asks a question. “Is it really that bad that you want to stay a secret?”
I give Twilight a side look and respond back. “Yes Twilight, because this involves where I come from and Celestia. I’m pretty sure she told you at one point that we were dating, yes?”
“Yes I’m well aware of that.” She tilts her head in confusion. “But, how does this involve to where you come from?”
“I’m pretty sure she’s told you girls that I’m not from here and how I came to be, am I correct?”
Twilight nods her head, but is still confused. Then she seemed to realize something. I already know what she realized. “Wait a minute, Yutani? Why haven’t I seen you with-...”
“Celestia?” I interrupt her. “Reason is....... is that I broke up with her.” I say with devoid of any emotion.
“Whoa! Whoa! Whoa!..... whoa.” The pegasus stallion with mohawk says. “You actually dated Princess Celestia?”
I respond with a nod of my head.
“And you broke up with her?”
I nod my head again.
He then smacks his forehead. “Dude, are you st-... mph!” Big Mac puts his hand over his mouth to stop him from finishing that sentence. He then shakes his head at him.
I give Big Mac a nod for understanding and he gives me a nod back in reply. I then lay back against the couch.
“I’m pretty sure you all curious about what happened with me and Celestia, correct?”
Everyone nods in unison.
“Alright. This is going to take awhile, so get comfortable.”
The guys take their respective seats next to their significant other. Seeing this pulls at my heart strings, but I don’t let it show.
“I’m going to start from where I originate from, so you all can get a better understanding once I get to the part of me and Celestia.”
Everyone nods again and awaits for me to begin.
I take out something from my back pocket of my pants. In my hands is a wallet, and from in the wallet I take out a picture and set down on the coffee table in front of us.
Everyone eyes the picture and there’s mixed reactions.
Then I begin my long grueling story.
