Yawning, the pink mare sat up from her mattress, it was a quiet morning and there were already ponies outside. Smiling, Pinkie quickly jumped off her bed and looked in the mirror to make sure she looked decent. She had her usual hairstyle and she looked okay, so Pinkie took that as an a-okay to go out.
But before that she should probably shower.
After a few minutes of being in the shower Pinkie dried her mane and fur before looking at the mirror once again.
'i look okay, so now i can go outside!'
'the market might be the best place to go..I have to get flour after all!', Pinkie nodded to herself in confirmation before getting her saddlebag bag, which was in her closet before heading down.
Pinkie bounced outside, yelling "Good morning Ponyville!" ,cheerfully she smiled and waved at the ponies passing by. After greeting everyone she could, she glanced at the road towards the market before a figure she couldn't recall was now in her vision. Curiously she looked at the figure once more, a pegasus stood besides Bon bon. The pony seemed slightly faded, having light pink fur and curly white and green mane. She also had light magenta eyes.
Was there a new pony in Ponyville? Why didn't she know? Pinkie bounced towards the pony, stopping them from following Bon bon who was now walking somewhere else.
"Hey there! I don't think I've seen you here before, I'm Pinkie pie!"
Smiling, Pinkie stook out her hoof for a hoof shake but something seemed.. wrong. The slightly faded ponies eyes widened in surprise, and looked around before looking back at Pinkie.
"You can see me....?"
"Yeah! Is... something.. wrong..?" Pinkie spoke looking around but then realized all the confused stares she was getting from all the ponies near her. And of course she didn't miss that there was also a bunch more slightly faded ponies staring with wide eyes at her.
'wait-, how was there more ponies??? And why don't i recognize them????'
The slightly faded pony infront of Pinkie grabbed her hoof - "we should continue talking somewhere else" -and ran off with Pinkie.
Pinkie, still confused, stared at the mare who was now dragging her away from the crowd and were now behind some houses near Ponyville.
"What was that about?" Questioned Pinkie.
"Sorry, didn't mean to drag you out of there like that."
"It's fine, so um, who are you..?"
The mare scratched her white and green mane before responding, "you can call me Elk"
"It nice to meet you Elk! I already told you my name but I'll just say it again just in case! I'm Pinkie pie!"
Elk nodded and smiled at Pinkie before continuing to talk, "anyway..um are you really sure you can really see me..? I mean no pony has been able to see us for years.."
"Yup! I can definitely see you! And what do you mean by us..?"
Elk looked to the side before looking back at Pinkie awkwardly "I'm..I-i mean we are ghosts actually....." Elk quickly spoke once more, " I-I mean! I guess you can call us ghosts! I mean we are technically dead...so I guess it makes sense!!"
Pinkie eyes widened before she jumped "w-wait you mean to tell me...your a ghost!!-"
"-i guess.....-"
"-thats so cool!!!"
Elk tilted her head to the side in clear confusion. "What..? I thought you would be be scared..or any other emotion instead of.. excitement..."
"Are you kidding me??? This is really cool!! I can't wait to tell Dashie about this!! She doesn't believe ghosts are real so if I can just show you to her she'll have to believe!!" Pinkie said excitedly.
Elk decided against it, "I don't think you'll be able to show Rainbow..." Pinkie tilted her head.
"Why not..?"
"I dont think anyone except for you can see us.. did you see how the ponies back there were staring at you! They thought you were crazy for talking to yourself!"
Pinkie frowned as she put her hoof onto her chin and looked down thoughtfully, remembering the stares, then looking up at Elk, "mmmmm your right... But why am I the only one that can see you guys.? And why now........ hmmmm"
Elk looked up at the sky, raising her wings slightly before muttering, "maybe you do have the eye power.."
"Hm? What do you mean..? Everything is so confusing!!" Groaned Pinkie before letting herself dramatically fall onto the grass.
Elk could only stare at the cotton candy mare, laughing slightly at the comedic affect of her fall. Shaking her head Elk explained, "well you see, there was a story told about a pony with changing eyes that could see the dead and that the very same pony would be able to help us with any unfinished business we have in this world before moving on"
Pinkie stared at Elk for a bit before sitting up, "what do you mean move on..? Like.. moving on from being dead..?"
"Us ghosts can choose to stay in this world, we all have different reasons why though..it could be that we don't want to move on, and instead watch that everything is going okay. Or there are some that want revenge, those turn into, demons you can say. Filled up with their hatred, the only thing keeping them going. You'll be able to see how they look like soon, Pinkie. They stand out a lot"
"Oh"
Pinkie nodded, silently.
"So what now..?"
The pink earth pony said as she looked at the faded pegasus. Elk smiled thoughtfully, looking at Ponyville and then back at Pinkie.
"Well now you can try and talk to some of the ghosts, maybe that'll help you help them."
Pinkie nodded before getting up excitedly, "yeah! That'll be great! I can't wait to meet new ponies!" She said, walking back towards Ponyville. Knowing that Elk would probably follow her she waited a bit.
"Of course you're excited, your Pinkie pie" Elk giggled softly before following Pinkie.

Poor Pinkie, she forgot about buying flour :/ any thoughts on elk would be great too ^^
