The purple unicorn sat curled up with her baby dragon under a soft night light. Twilight sparkle was sat reading one of her favourite books (well all books are her favourite) when suddenly, there was a loud clang echoing around Ponyville. With a flicker and a groan, all of the lights went out. Twilight was left in the dark of the library with a glowing purple horn and moon light. Twilight being the kind of pony she is, went to investigate.
She stepped outside her library with her sleepy purple dragon on her back “what’s going on Twilight?” Spike yawns and shuffled down on her back as she walked through the dark Streets of Ponyville. Twilight shook her head as a candle floated by her side with sparkling purple magic “I don’t know Spike, but everypony seems to be going over to the lighting factory” Twilight followed the rest of the ponies and Pinkie Pie jumped up and joined in next to Twilight. Bouncing along beside her; Pinkie Pie giggled “isn’t this fun Twilight! It’s like a giant slumber party! And everypony is invited!” She laughed and smiled at everyone, despite their screwed up angry faces. Twilight and Pinkie Pie joined a very angry Rarity, whose mane was half curled and half straight. “What’s going on Rarity?” Twilight asked and Rarity did up her silk dressing gown “Oh Twilight, the power is out and I can’t finish my mane! It’s Terrible; I’m a walking fashion disaster!” Rarity whined and sobbed into Pinkie Pie side, who just looked confused at the white unicorn. Twilight and party where fairly close to the front as two mares and two stallions walked out, One pegasus, two unicorn and an Earth pony. The dusky grey pegasus had her wings out stretched and the other two making their horns glow as the owner of the factor walked out. The Earth Stallion looked down his black nosed and raised a brow. “What’s going on!” one pony called “Where is the power!” another shouted “Hurry and fix it so I can fix my mane!” Rarity called out. The Pegasus flapped her wings and the unicorns used their magic to amplify the wind caused by the beats of the cold night air to hush every pony and make Rarity’s puff up in a crazy mess of curls making her frown annoyed.
The black stallion fixed his helmet and started to slowly pace. With each step the ponies shuffled back in fear “listen up!” he called out in a low dominating voice “I am Captain and I own this factory there has been an accident in the internals of the factory and we are almost out of Lighting!” He would turn and face the crowed and the ponies lowered their heads, his light grey eyes pricing though the crowed. “I estimate the power will be down for about 3 days!” he called and turned around, his tail flicker and hit one of the Pegasus in the face making her stumble as he went inside. The ponies began stirring as the Pegasus was help up by soft brown male unicorn to her side. She shook her self-up and stood at the front, stumbling ever so slightly “We are sorry for the inconvenience caused; and we will work harder to get everything running again” She flapped her dusky grey wings and lowered her head. Her ginger hair falling over her dusky blue eyes “My name is Cables, if you need anything, please speak to me tomorrow; for now we have to get this working” she sighed and turned around and walked inside, the others followed suit. Twilight frowned and Rarity burst out crying on Pinkie Pie once more, as the crowd dispersed. Twilight grinned and her horn began to glow “I know that glow Twilight, what are you thinking” Spike flicked her horn and Twilight began running to her library making the dragon bounce on her back “Get a good night sleep Spike, tomorrow we have an investigation to carry out!” Twilight ran inside and started drawing up plans for the morning.
The next morning was a warm one, sun glowing making the morning dew look like crystals. Fluttershy knocked on Twilights door with a basket covered with a cloth, the wooden door shot open and Fluttershy was pulled inside by a blue hoof. Rainbow Dash shushed her as all the gang was here. “Thank you Fluttershy; please put the basket in the middle with the others!” Twilight nodded slyly. “Oh Twilight, what is this about! We can’t be going for a picnic!” Rarity whined and pulled down her hat, obviously covering her mess of a mane. “Yeah Twilight! I’m meant to be cleaning up the shop for Mrs Cake!” Pinkie Pie wiggled next to Spike. “Girls please calm down!” Twilight looked them over and grinned, sitting back on her chair and using her magic to sip her tea “Spike roll the film please!” Spike looked around “but Twilight we can’t!” Spike looked to her and she sighed, moving over and placing him in the wheel “Run Spike” She placed a hat with a stick on his head. At the end was a gem. Spike grinned and began running trying to catch it. The projector whirred into life and clips of last night where shown. “You see here” Twilight pointed to the four ponies behind Captain. “These poor Ponies are exhausted!” The screen changed to when Cables fell over “She was lightly hit in the face, yet she is so weak she can’t stand up!” Twilight pointed out “I know the cause of the loss of power! And it’s because these poor ponies are being over worked” The film stopped and Spike flopped in the wheel exhausted but munching on his gem. Applejack stepped forward “What are you saying Twi?” Applejack look at Twilight and Twilight sighed “I have no evidence to back up my theory girls, so I need your help!” Twilight looked at them and Rainbow Dash fly forwards and banged her hoofs together “whatever you need Twilight; we are here to help!” She said with almost a glimmer of excitement in her voice. The rest nodded and Pinkie Pie giggled. Twilight smiled “Yes! We strike tonight!”
It was dark and they used the cover of nightfall to aid their ‘investigation’. Twilight leapt out of a bush and spoke into a walky-talky “Dash! Everything clear?” Twilight look to the sky and saw a blue streak soar across the sky. “All clear Twilight!” Rainbow Dash replied and Twilight signalled for Pinkie and Rarity to knock out the side windows. This was done with ease. Applejack dove in and radioed back to the others “all clear girls!” Applejack spoke though the walky-talky and the rest leapt in. Fluttershy whimpers and lowed her yellow head “uh- Twilight?” Fluttershy stepped back “I-I’ll keep watch with Applejack!” Applejack rolled her eyes and sat outside with Fluttershy.
Meanwhile, Twilight, Rarity, Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie crept though the dark halls until the came to hardworking ponies. Cables was there with the light brown unicorn, a grey Earth pony and a pale purple Unicorn. They stopped working away and looked wide eyed at them; whispering in a low tone “what are you doing here Twilight! Get out before Captain comes!” Cables whispered, keeping low as to not make much noise “what’s going on here?” Twilight looked about as the others investigated the area for other ponies. “We work night and day without a break!” Said the brown Unicorn softly “My name is Sparks; I don’t even remember what my house looks like!” He sighed and lent on Cables who wobbled a little “We need a break Twilight, please help us!” the group of ponies looked over to Twilight and she frowned softly, before grinning a mischievous smile grew on her face “Rarity, Get Photographing! Dash and Pinkie, gets these poor ponies out of here! I’ll collect the evidence and head over to the mayor! Go! Go! Go!” The gang got to work and got all 16 ponies out of the factory and all headed back to the library were pre-made beds and water were made and the rescued factory ponies slept solidly that night .
The next morning the sun was up and Twilight and company raced to the Mayor who was a little shocked “Twilight! What is the matter now?” she sighed, placing down her documents and looking at Twilight over her glasses. Twilight placed a file on her desk and, using her magic to make photos float around “The lighting factory workers have been over worked and they need a break!” Twilight spoke out at the mayor exasperated. The mayor would pause and look sternly with her deep blue eyes and nodded. “Thank you Twilight. I shall get on this immediately” She laid down her documents and fixed her collar before moving out “Twilight” the mayor paused “get the head of each department, the cables fixers, the lighting chasers, the converters and the welders” Twilight nodded “Dash, go get them ready and we’ll catch up” Rainbow Dash nodded and flew out, leaving a rainbow streak behind her and messing up the office. The mayor frowned but had no time to fix it now.
Dash burst though the door of the library, making all sixteen ponies jump. Four in each division. Cables [cable repair and placement] Sparks [Welders] Big Jim [lighting power converter] and Speed Weight [lighting chaser] all looked over to Dash “You four are needed in the factory! Now!” Dash spoke with a stern tone. The group of four just nodded and followed her.
Finally, they drew up to the daunting factory, a small crowed of different Technicolor ponies gathered about. The mayor stood in front of the large black stallion, who looked rather frightened as he was being yelled at by the mayor. His ears laid back and he nodded “y-yes ma’am, I promise” Cables walked up behind the mayor and Captain looked over to the four ponies and bite his lip, before lowering his head “Crew, repaired the damage, then take a week off, we have a years supply of lighting anyways” he grunted a little and the mayor opened her eyes and tilted her head glaring at him. He whimperd softly “P-please” Captian grumbled a little. “Good!” The mayor smiled “I’ll be keeping a close eye on you, and oh” The mayor turned to face Rainbow Dash who shyed away a little “You, young mare, are going to help me clean up those documents!” Rainbow Dash nodded and lowered her rainbow head “Yes ma’am” She spoke solemnly, following behind the mayor with a pout. “not my fault I’m so fast, your papers wanna join in” She grumbled as she walked off. Twilight laughed a little, who looked over to Cables and the others. Sparks bumped into her purposely and smiled at her “You ready?” He spoke laughing a little, Cables blushed and nodded, and the other two laughed a little. The group seemed now to be full of life.
A few days later, the ponies had finished there work and were all on good terms with Captain. Twilight and Spike were out in town and saw Cables and Sparks out together and smiled. “Spike, take a note please” The purple and green dragon drew out some paper and a quill from Twilights bag
“Dear Princess Celestia,
Today I learned that even if somepony is bullying you, you have to speak up to somepony. Even if its hard to do. There will always be someone to help you.
Your faithful student, Twilight Sparkle”
Spike exhaled and burnt up the letter in emerald green fire and it was magically sent away to the princess.
