The Creatures of Chaos
Chapter 1: The First Creature...
Load Full StoryTwo ponies dressed head to tail in protective gear entered the room. Discord’s body lay there, unmoving. A syringe filled with his blood lay on a surgical tray nearby. “Grab the syringe, we will need it for our first subject.” Ordered the head scientist, Chronos.
“Is the subject ready?” Called a unicorn scientist, looking sideways at the pegasus strapped to the metal table.
“Yes, the subject is restrained and under, there is no chance for them to resist.” Responded another scientist, a pegasus, with their hoof pointed toward their trapped prey.
The unicorn scientist picked up a syringe filled with the dark-red liquid with flashes of purple pulsating throughout in their magic, “Let’s begin,“ The needle floated up to the strapped body and pierced the pale blue skin, “Inserting the chaotic blood, now.” The plunger of the syringe began its descent, sending the blood of the Lord of Chaos into its unwilling recipient.
After five minutes of watching their prisoner, the pegasus scientist spoke up.
“The subject seems to have no reaction to-” Before she could finish her sentence the pegasus on the table started to violently toss their head about, their coat taking on a greenish-blue color as they started to sprout horns.
“Quick! Get the control device on him!” yelled Chronos from the viewing platform above.
“Right away!” called the unicorn as he levitated a strange piece of technology, Frankensteined from what seemed to be a microscope and a demolished hoofball helmet, toward the thrashing creature on the table. Once it was fully on, the creature calmed down as the rest of the changes to what used to be a pegasus body occurred.
Their ears had shrunk and had seemingly molded into a different shape. They were sharper... redder. Their left eye showed change as well. The pupil had closed itself almost completely, leaving only a slit resting in the middle of the green iris. Two lines rested below the socket, streaming down as if they were tears. The wings were no longer that of a pegasus, but instead the membranous wings of a bat or demon. Their mane, now a yellow with streaks of red a similar shade to their ear. Finally, the light green horns that had sprouted finally stopped, curving at the ends.
“Is he compliant?” came Chronos from the doorway.
“Yes, he is under our complete control.” replied the pegasus while turning away from their latest successful creation.
“I will test what he is capable of and get ready for the next subject.” She hummed. “You are dismissed.”
“Thank you, ma’am!” both scientists left almost in sync through different doors.
“Now that we are alone…” Chronos began. “Tell me, what is your name? What powers do you possess from Discord?” She asked seductively, stepping closer to her newest toy.
“My name… is…. Drivel... I don’t know what powers I have.” He spoke slowly as if testing new vocal chords. Chronos frowned slightly.
“How do you know your name but not what powers you have?”
“Well, it doesn’t make sense.” He shrugged.
“What doesn’t make sense?”
“Me, I don’t make sense.”
“Explain how you don’t make sense!”
Before Drivel could reply, an earthquake shook the room causing Chronica’s viewing platform to fall and knock him out.
Opening his eyes slowly, Drivel saw the open sky instead of the bright lights of the lab.
“What? Where.. Where am I? How did I get here?”
Sitting up, he noticed that he was in a clearing in an otherwise dense forest he recognized as the Everfree, causing a slight bit of shock and nearby was what looked like a hollowed-out tree, jars hanging from the branches. “...Oh no…”
He felt his now visible right eye, which was almost the exact same as his left except it was red, give a strong twitch, You broke out and passed out in this field of flowers.
“Who said that?” Drivel asked out loud.
Yourself, just the better, stronger, faster part of you, your inner Discord. You received his pure chaotic blood, after all. I exist because you couldn’t handle it all at once.
"So, you're in my head as a sort of me that is violent, cruel, and wants to kill ponies?"
Yes, and I will do it because you can do little to stop me. I just need some time to rest, breaking out of that facility and breaking that infernal goggle that allowed them to control us took it out of me. Don't make any stupid decisions while I am out...
Drivel frowned to himself and stood to his hooves, glancing back over at the tree. Approaching it, he stepped up to the door and raised his hoof.
*knock knock*
“A knock on my door? I was not expecting another." Came a female voice with a heavy accent.
"Maybe it's the other crusaders?" Replied a younger voice with a southern accent, "Should I open it, Zecora?"
Well, now I know the name of someone in there... "Do not fret, little Applebloom. You keep stirring while I step out of the room."
The door opened to reveal a zebra, who was almost instantly shocked by what was in front of her. "My, what is this? A creature that shouldn’t exist?"

Drivel looked at her with slight amusement. "Well… I exist.” He chuckled and peered into the tree. “I just woke up nearby and was wondering if you could help me with a few things?"
"Somepony else is already here, I can help you if you take a seat over there." She pointed toward a room with a slightly open door. When Drivel stepped inside, he could see that it was a form of a storage closet.
Not long after Drivel had sat down in the closet he heard Zecora and Applebloom giving their farewells and the door shutting, "You can come out now, the little one has gone to help plow."
After making his way toward the zebra, Drivel sat on a cushion across from her, "Now, explain to me what problems you have on your chest. Perhaps I have a potion for you to digest."
“I don’t know anything about myself other than my name, and I need help finding a way to limit my power so that my other half doesn’t take over and destroy everything.”
“From what I can see, you are a creature none have seen. Other than one, but he was quite mean...”
“I think you are talking about Discord, my ‘other half’ called himself my inner Discord and said that I had received his pure blood.”
“What is this ‘other half’ you fear so great?”
“A mean creature that is the main reason why I am here and not in a lab… I’m scared he wants to destroy Equestria…”
“For your problem, I know a fix, but it’s for you to choose, for I have no other tricks.”
“Okay, what do I need to do?”
She explained to Drivel what he would need to do in order to create a token to tame his power and inner Discord. He then left, on his way to find the castle of the Two Sisters. His pace quickened as his hooves made their way onto a flattened path. Zecora had promised him tea once he returned, and he wasn’t going to miss that.
Author's Note
The next chapter will start with his conquest to tame his inner Discord, but can he do it before the other half catches on?
