I sat in silence as I road in the back of the moving carriage with my belongings. The weeks long trip have taken a lot out of me, making me a recluse. The carriage slowly crawled to halt, the sign that the ponies pulling the carriage where taking a lunch break. I slowly stood up and walked to the back of the carriage and hoped out. The pullers sat off to the side of the road and already had a fire going. I walked over and sat with them, hoping to get some form of food.
"Ahh, zebra, join us, please," one of the stallions jestured to a spot next to him. I walked over and sat next to him, the fire crackling. I looked up and saw a younger stallion staring at me.
"You came at an awful time, zebra, you should have gone elsewhere," he told me, a frown adorning his face. "You should just return to your fucking country."
He proceded to stand up and walk back over to the front of the carriages. I looked at the ground as I bit my lip softly. I sighed and stood up and walked to the back of the carriage and got in. I sat back down and held back tears. After awhile the carriage started moving again, I just hoped the town based on Friendship is more adapting to me.
I hoped out of the carriage, grabbed my items, and paid the carriage pullers for taking me so far. I turned around and looked at the small house that was now mine.
"Hello, friend," I heard her. I looked down and next to the front door was her, Zecora. Zecora was a friend of mine back in Zebrica, the local tribe healer. I walked over and hugged her, her hugging back. "It's been so long, Zorak, I've missed you, we have much to ammend."
"I see you stull do the whole rhyming thing, Zecora," I told her, both of us laughing. I sighed and opened the door to my house, letting Zecora in. The both of us sat down on the floor after I moved in my small amount of stuff. We talked for hours, about here and back home. She told me how her friends were scared of her when she first moved here, and I told her how our tribe had grown massively. "So, um, Zecora, do you think you could show me around town tomorrow?"
"I don't like going into town anymore, the pony's seem uncomfortable," she told me, her voice littered with sadness. "I hope you can be understandable, Zorak."
"Oh... Okay, it's fine, I'll find my own way around town," I smiled, but inside I was nervous. I don't know any of the ponies in town. "Um, well, I suppose it's time to go, Zecora, thank you agin, so much for getting me from Zebrica, I couldn't fight against my family."
"Zorak, it's okay, I would have helped you anyway," she told me as we both walked to the door. "I just hope you stay."
"I probably will, Zecora," I opened my door, she hugged me before leaving, letting isolation settle in again. I closed the door and locked it, before returning to the floor and closing my eyes, let myself fall asleep for the first time in what felt like months.
I slowly woke up, the sun shinning into my eyes. I stood up slowly, unsure of my balance. I sighed and walked into my kitchen, hobling over to the sink and drinking straight from the tap.
"So cold," I mumble to myself as I wipe my mouth. I walked over to my fridge, finding it empty. "Shit... I've gotta go shopping."
I rubbed my neck as I psyched myself up for whatever would come my way. I walked to my belongings and pulled out the small bag of bits I had brought with me, then strapping on my pack, throwing the pouch in it, before leaving my house, walking out to the dirt road leading to town. I slowly walked to town, the mid summer heat blaring down on me.
"Fucking zebra's," I heard a mare grumble under her breath. I nodded softly, ignoring her as I kept walking.
I slowly walkwd into and practically felt the tension thicken around me. Ponies stopped what they were doing and looked at me. I kept walking, afraid of the mob grabbing their pitchforks and torches. Whispers around me scared me more than being directly ridiculed. I reached an intersection and looked around for a market or grocery building.
"U-Um, excuse me?" I heard a mare approach me. I looked around and saw a bright pink mare approach me. "Can I help you with anything?"
"I'm looking for a market," I told her, to which she slowly pointed down the street. "Thanks."
"Y-Yeah," she backed away slowly, like I had the plague. I sighed and walked the way she pointed.
I smiled softly when I found an outdoor travelling market. I approached a carrot stand, the mare tending the stall keeping eye contact with me the entire time. I grabbed some carrots and placed them on the counter, the pony quickly telling me the price and me giving the bits. I put the carrots in my bag and noticed the distance everyone was giving me.
"Thanks, miss," I told the mare before walking to a different stall. I quickly bought the rest of my food, stoping finally at an apple stall. When I approached the mare running it spoke up.
"We don't serve your kind here," the mare told me. Her stetson addorned her head, like the one my grandfather wore. "Leave the market and we won't have a problem, understand me?"
I didn't respond as I just walked off, trying to keep my mouth shut. I felt tears run down my face as I broke into a trot, but I didn't want to be here anymore. I didn't stop running until I was back home. I cried softly as I put all of my food away. I now know why Zecora doesn't go into town.
Pinkie sat at a booth of Sugarcube Corner, her mind racing with conflicting thoughts.
He was a zebra, zebra's are evil, that's what Queen Luna and Princess Celestia say.
Zecora's a zebra, and I know she isn't evil.
Pinkie was eventually brought out of her own thoughts by Mrs. Cake. Pinkie looked up and smiled at Mrs. Cake.
"O-Oh, hi, Mrs. Cake," Pinkie smiled as she wiped her eyes. "Do you need anything?"
"No, I just wanted to make sure you were okay, you were crying softly," Mrs. Cake placed a sundae on the table and sat next to Pinkie. "Would you like to talk?"
"NO!" Pinkie yelled at Mrs. Cake, before covering her mouth. "I-I'm so sorry, um, I-I'm gonna be in my room."
Pinkie ran upstairs and left Mrs. Cake speechless in a booth. Pinkie ran and hid in her room, her thoughts tearing her mind open until she fell asleep.
