Taelyn "Twilight" Saito is the last of her line of Magecraft Practitioners - otherwise known as Magus. As ancient wielders of sorcery and the elements, a great burden lies on her to rise to her family name and become a protector of humanity from the supernatural.

Allen Hunter is an undercover zombie, for whom there are only two constants: (a) never kill another human being in order to feed and (b) swear on his life (or whatever you call what he has) to protect the only friend he's ever known, Taelyn Saito. The job comes with it's fair share of ups and downs when your friend is a vessel of magical power, the perfect meal for any supernatural abberation.

And when zombies and magic users exist, who knows what else could be out there? Well, maybe a fallen angel with self esteem issues, or a werewolf with a mysterious win streak in the local sporting events, or a centaur who has a stalwart possessiveness over the land they once owned, or a poltergeist who can't stop playing tricks, or a vampire who's vanity knows no bounds, among other things...
