Reflections Of A Shadow's Life
There is nothing much to say about me then that I was just a tyrannical king that sieged control over the Crystal Empire and brought it's inhabitants to slavery and that I wanted internal darkness to cross over entire Equestria. But my plans were then fooled by the princesses who stopped my plan and banned me away from the Empire. That is what my story has been for the last thousands of years of me being in exile, and here I am, in exile again never going to see the light as I walk through the night and look up at the night skies.
When I was defeated by Celestia and Luna, I was brought down to a cave where I would be in exile for thousands of years without seeing the light ever again. And when I did return to see the light, it was only a short while as the crystal heart destroyed my body killing me and splitting me into a thousand pieces making me go back into the darkness where I thought I belonged.
But when everything turned dark, I was kind of happy as my powers of chaos would never ever hurt any pony ever again, a queen told me that I would become a great king one day and rule the empire to new and greater glory and bring new light to the Empire. But it seemed like my destiny was to bring chaos to everyone who stood in my path.
When sometimes the dark magic didn't take over my body, I would have thoughts of how I came from a nameless orphan thirsting for bringing new light to the Empire and peace to all ponies in the crystal empire to a warrior who enslaved the ponies of the Empire to become my loyal servants. And just to be exiled in darkness and returned to be brought back to the darkness to when loyal followers that have been working hard to bring me back to reign darkness over Equestria.
And now I am alone walking under the dark night skies, I did not exile myself outside of Equestria as a quest for forgiveness, sympathy, and redemption. Because who wants to forgive a monster, if any ponies asked me that I had regrets for enslaving ponies and annihilated half of Manehatten then my short answer would be "no".
From my point of view, it was necessary because it made the ponies to think more if friendship and redemption would be the solution to their problem. The quickest answer would be that friendship and redemption is not always the answer, sometimes it is but not when their crimes are horrible. Sometimes that pony redeems him or her self without any help from the Princess of friendship.
I had one friend once and she was the one who always loved me and saw me as a friend on the playground when I turned into darkness, she still saw the light in me and tried to do anything to destroy the dark. I would love to see her try because I hate myself for allowing myself ascend into darkness, and I wish she did because now since I know that it has been thousands of years since I saw her, I know that she is gone and that I will never see her again. I wasted my life fighting for a new Empire and wanted to siege control over Equestria. I wanted her to be my queen and sit right next to me on the throne as we could rule Equestria together, I saw that future in the crystal heart and I saw me and her ruling over Equestria with our son who will be the next in line to rule over Equestria. But it seemed like Destiny slapped me in my face when that never happened, what I just saw was just a fantasy of my young self, I just saw a life that I wanted and did not see what life had in store for me.
When she did not want to rule with me, I shunned her away because it made me rise to power difficult as my emotions and feelings for her would stand in my way to accomplish greatness. But the lesson I learned that sometimes you must sacrifice that achievement to live a happy life, take that from someone who did not sacrifice anything.
When I fought against the sisters of day and night, I was banished to a cave where I would not see light for thousands of years, that was the one thing I wanted for the last thousands of years. And when it became true, as my birthday was the day I returned to siege control over the Empire, it was cut short when the powers of the Crystal Heart killed me.
I then returned back to darkness but was still alive, and the darkness gave me second thoughts and that was that my goal for bringing the Empire to a new glory died when I took authority over the Empire. Only the lust for revenge and eternal darkness consumed my heart and determined my path.
And then I was brought back to life by followers that wanted me to bring Equestria to new and better glory, I finally got to feel the wind around my body and mane, but I did not get to feel the sunlight shine on my face as clouds covered the skies. I was disappointed by the fact but if they wanted me to bring Equestria to new glory, then I would give them that. We began enslaving ponies and made them go into fear from me, then when the mane 6, the ones that defeated my back at the Empire returned to fight me once again.
I gave every single ounce of my power to bring them to their knees, but that never seemed to stop them as they grew smarter and smarter and stronger and stronger to the point that defeated me. But unknown to them, I survived and exiled myself far away from Equestria where no one would find me. Nevertheless now realizing that all the terror I did is going to be my legacy, now make me realize that what is a legacy without errors and pain, without sacrifice and grief?
And what good is a legacy when the future generation can not learn from it, from the vices as well as the virtues?
Ignorance, apathy, prejudice, understanding, justice, unity, it is necessary that we all learn these concepts. They are more than just words, they are attitude, behaviors, worldviews. They can destroy civilizations and maybe rebuild them. They can corrupt individuals or enlighten them, they can cause war or lead them to peace.
Now being departed from Equestria, I will never know if Equestria moves on from the sins of the past or condemn themselves by repeating them over and over again. But that burden is not mine to bear.
As I surround my self to my pain, I will maybe one day see the light and hope that Equestria learns from my sins and that it has changed them and the future citizens. I just hope the new generation will learn this, and I hope that my son will become a better leader than me.
I tell everyone who continues to fight in my name to stop what they are doing because my former philosophies are flawed and the battle and conflicts I created is over. Lord Sombra is no more, from now on, I am just Sombra.
