Spike's Diary

Dear Diary,

You know, it's always nice when somecreature gets themselves a new pet, and today, Silverstream managed to get one of her own. But I have to say, it wasn't one I ever expected. Her name is Edith, and she's, wait for it, a cockatrice! Yeah, no joke, Silverstream actually went into the Everfree Forest as part of an assignment and came out with a cockatrice as a pet! Who'd have ever guessed? I actually got the chance to see Edith up close after Silver brought her back to the school. And you know, Silver's right, she really is nice when you get to know her.

I can't help but think about Peewee of course when I see her. He was a great little guy, and I can't wait to go and visit him again. I wish I could have seen him more often, but phoenixes aren't like regular pets. They need their freedom. I'm happy that he has his, but even so, I sometimes wonder what it would have been like if he and me had stayed together, like what Applejack has with Winona and the like. Still, getting back to Silverstream, I'm really glad she was able to get herself an awesome pet without getting into trouble, because I hear the same couldn't be said for Starlight when she tried to find her.

Huh, I wonder if pets are actually allowed in the school? Hmmm, better check in with Twilight about that.
