Spike's Diary

Dear Diary,

Tonight was the night of the Grand Galloping Gala. After all this time of waiting and preparing, me, Twilight and the others were finally there, in Canterlot, ready to enjoy the evening. Or, at least, that's what I thought was going to happen. As soon as we arrived, they all went their separate ways. They all had big plans to get on with and none of them seemed to have any interest in spending time with one another. And I was really hoping for a fun night with them too. I tried talking around with some of the other guests, but they were either uninterested in talking to me or so unbelievably boring that i nearly fell asleep after a minute of speaking to them. I had hoped to at least see Cadence or Shining here, but I couldn't see them. It was a bummer.

In the end, I just decided to get out of there and wait for my friends to all be done with it. I found this neat little donut store nearby and this guy named Joe. He was happy to have a customer, so he was pretty friendly to me. But I was too upset to really get involved with him all that much. Then, Twilight and the others turned up! Before the party was even over! Seems they all had a terrible night there, and even caused a bit of trouble before they left. Kinda makes me wish I'd stayed, because that sounds like it would've been fun to watch.

But, the important thing is that we're all here, and that's all I really wanted out of this. Oh, I wonder if Joe still has any more donuts for us?
