Chapter One: The Package
“Just a few more seconds and it will be done,” Rarity thought to herself as she sat at in front of her drawing board, finishing up a drawing. “Almost done….”
CRASH! She felt the whole house shake a little bit, and accidently scribbled all over the drawing.
“Aw, Pegasus feathers!” she yelled in frustration and looked at her drawing. Days worth of careful thinking, drawing and detailing had all just been ruined. Lately, business had been slow, since it was now spring, so she finally had the chance to think about what she wanted to do and start making some dresses that she wanted for herself and one other pony. “And it was almost done,” she thought sadly. She had been working on a dress for another mare. The dress was to be used as a first date dress for the mare, though the mare didn’t order the dress, or plan on going out on a first date anytime soon. “Or maybe even ever,” said Rarity, hanging her head down, and a tear sliding down her face. If only the mare she was drawing the dress for knew her true feelings. But rarity knew that she was the one out of the group that was always talking about a prince charming. But it was all just for show, so her friends wouldn’t find out her true feelings for her one special mare. She didn’t know when exactly she started to have these feelings for the mare, but when they did start, they even surprised her.
THUMP, THUMP, THUMP, came the loud sound at her front door.
“Coming!” Rarity yelled as she quickly galloped down-stairs to the door, wondering who could’ve caused such a ruckus, but then thinking about it and coming to one conclusion. As she reached the door, she opened it up and her thoughts about who it was were proved right.
“Derpy,” Rarity says with a smile on her face. “I’m so glad to see you. Another package today I guess?”
Derpy just stands there though, and after a few seconds says, “Muffin?”
Rarity, realizing what she means, says, “Yes. I’ll be right back.” She closes the door and hurries to the kitchen where she then opens a cupboard and locates the secret stash of muffins she has. They were a secret because the didn’t want Sweetie Belle seeing them and eating them instead of trying to learn how to not burn all foods and drinks that she makes. Rarity grabs a blueberry muffin, and hurries back to the door where Derpy continues to sit there patiently, awaiting her reward.
Rarity places the muffin in front of Derpy and says, “A special treat today, blueberry muffin,” smiling hesitantly, waiting to see Derpy’s response.
Derpy just stares down at the muffin with one eye, and looks at Rarity with the other. She then reaches into her bags on her back and pulls out a package with her teeth.
“Gently now this time, my dear Derpy,” Rarity said, eyeing the package as she remembered how clumsy Derpy can be with packages. “I hope she doesn’t break this one like she did the one before this,” she thought as Derpy did as she was asked and gently placed the package on her door step and taking the muffin in return and hugging it saying, “Muffin!” closing her eyes and beginning to fly off with the muffin, slowly nibbling at it and savoring her reward for a job well done. “Thank you for the package!” Rarity yelled to her back as she flew off. Rarity’s horn began to glow a little as did the box as it was magically lifted off the ground and hovered into her house. As she closed the door, her smile grew with anticipation at what could be in this new package, “Could it be cloth materials? That new sewing machine that I bought because Sweetie Belle broke the other one by burning it? What could it be?” As she was thinking this, she slowly trotted up into her bedroom upstairs, jumped up on the bed, placing the package gently on the bed, the box losing the magical glow. Right then, a pair of scissors that were sitting on her work bench began to glow as she used her magic to make the scissors hover over to the package, cutting the tape holding the package closed. Once the package was cut open, the scissors returned to their place on the work bench, being placed on top of some of her most recent projects.
She opened the box, and gasped in surprise as she saw a small red ruby inside in the shape of her cutie mark on a necklace.
“Oh my goodness gracious! It is just dazzling!” She said as the necklace began to glow with magic as it was hovered down onto her over her head and mane, gently landing around her neck. “This is simply marvelous! I MUST show this off to the other girls during our next meet up.”
After getting up and looking in the mirror at herself and the necklace from almost all angles possible, she went back to work on the drawing of the dress that she had been working on earlier. As she begin to think about the dress again, she then remembered to find out who the gift was from. She trotted over to the box, and looked in it. All there was left in the box was a small note. She used her magic to pick up the note, using her magic to hover her glasses over to her.
She read then note, “To: Rarity, Love: Your Secret Admirer”
She paused and re-read it over two more times. “Secret admirer?” thinking to herself, “I didn’t know I had an admirer who would send me something like this.” She thought for a minute, then her smile widened of all the colts that came to mind who might’ve sent this to her, while blushing a little. “Oh my. This is such a wonderful thing……I must tell the others right away!” She thought before turning tail and galloping downstairs, and heading first to Twilight’s house. On the way there, she waved to several others, while still keeping an eye on the skies to make sure if she saw Rainbow Dash on the way there.……”Rainbow Dash” she said softly and quietly, blushing a little. “Oh my…what will she think about me gloating about getting something from another colt?” she thought as her gallop slowed to a quick trot. “Well, I can only hope it doesn’t upset her.” She thought as she finally reached Twilight’s home in the library. She knocked on the door gently, but quickly. “Twilight? It is Rarity. Do you mind if I come in?” As she said this, she heard a a bit of rustling, and a small thud before the reply came from the other side.
“Uh, yes rarity. Please, come in.”
Rarity smiled, ignoring the sounds she had heard before she then opened the door.
