Fear Of Oblivion

Twilight was sitting in her bedroom of the golden oaks library looking at her hands as she rubbed them together nervously. She was very scared.

As she pondered her fear Rarity entered the room as she knocked on the door. Rarity saw Twilight's worried expression on her face. She decided to go see what was bothering her friend as she sat down by Twilight.

"Twilight what's bothering you? Your scaring me with your behavior? Is something wrong?" Rarity asked. Twilight nodded.

"Rarity you have no idea how scared I am!" Twilight cried. Rarity rubbed Twilight's back soothingly.

"Would you like to tell me what's scaring you? Maybe there is a rationale explanation to what your fear is." Rarity suggested.

"Rarity I'm scared of eternal oblivion! I dont want to die and face darkness for eternity! I dont want that at all! I want to go to an afterlife or live and stay with you and my friends forever either way! I dont want to face an eternity where I'm unable to speak and not be able to see my friends!" Twilight cried.

Rarity pulled Twilight in for a hug as Twilight sobbed heavily. Rarity sighed as she honestly didnt know what to say. She tried to think of the best answer that she had. Soon Rarity broke away from the hug and spoke to Twilight with a soft voice.

"Twilight...I understand how you feel...its a very scary idea to think about...but you just have to...come to terms with it...its going to happen to all of us Twilight...its going to happen to me, my sister and everyone who isnt immortal." Rarity explained.

"But I dont want it to happen! It's horrible! I wont be able to speak or see or hang out with my friends or eat ever again! I dont want it!" Twilight cried. Twilight sobbed as Rarity gave a sympathetic look. She understood Twilight's fear she didnt like the prospect of never having thoughts or seeing anybody again for eternity either but she has accepted it as fact.

"I know Twilight, it's a scary fate if you look at it that way and if I had my way we would all live in an afterlife after our bodies die but unfortnetly I dont have powers to do that...but to be honest it's not as bad as your thinking." Rarity suggested. Twilight became angry when she heard that.

"How can you say that?! How is it not bad that my personality along with my thoughts and feelings will perish along with myself into a state of where it will be complete pitch black for eternity!?" Twilight ranted as tears fell down her face.

Rarity frowned as she didnt really have an answer to that one, she didnt know how she would sooth Twilight about that prospect but she needed to think of something as she didnt want Twilight to be upset about it.

"I understand Twilight but...that's just it...instead of being under control of a power hungry God in an afterlife of some kind where your his slave and you have to work twenty four seven you will be completely dead and alls it will be is peaceful silence forever. You wont be able to experience any of this silence anyway since you will be dead! Your brain wont work after death so you wont even know that your dead because you will cease to exist. It will just be complete black darkness forever and it wont bother you. We have years before that happens to us. It wont happen to us until we are dead. You have time to make more memories with your friends and experience new adventures with your friends So dont worry so much about the future sweety! Live in the now and make the most of it! Besides it might not be complete darkness because we've honestly never experienced it yet. There might be an afterlife without a power hungry tyrant for a God but either way dont worry because if eternal oblivion is what awaits us when we are dead then at least we had experienced love while alive." Rarity explained.

As Twilight thought over what Rarity had said she knew that Rarity had a good point about it. She was still scared though but since Rarity explained it to her she felt a bit better about it.

"Your right Rarity...I guess it doesnt sound so bad but I still dont like the idea!" Twilight whined. Rarity wiped Twilight's tears away.

"I understand Twilight, it doesnt sound so great to you but once this happens their will be no more pain no more sadness, you wont be bullied or abused and their wont be anybody to betray you. There won't be any more cursing or violence instead of all that it will be total silence. Nothing will bother you ever again after that. So until then live your life how you want to live it! Go hang out with your friends! Have tickle fights! Go to amusement parks! Get married! Have children throw a party make mistakes and break stuff! That way you can live a good life which you can enjoy because theres only four things your guaranteed in life is fun death and taxes." Rarity said as she concluded her speech.

Twilight felt alot better heading Rarity say all that, she knew that Rarity was right and that she should just focus living and not death. Twilight stopped crying and wiped more tears away and sniffled

"Thank you Rarity...I appreciate you calming me down about it. I'm glad I could open up to you about what I feared." Twilight said. Rarity smiled and nuzzled Twilight with her nose leveling as she snuggled her.

"Its no problem! I'm glad you opened up to me you should do that for yourself more often. If something is ever bothering you just come to me or another friend or anyone you trust and say what's on your mind! Also dont think about eternal oblivion in such a negative way because guess what if you die you will decompose in a coffin or you will be cremated and your ashes will be mixed with soil that will bring fourth flowers fruits and vegetables or maybe even a beautiful garden! Or if your cremated your ashes will spread to the far winds of Equestria you will travel thousands of miles until your ashes will wind up in the sea or in a garden. Either way your death will reverberate throughout the neurons and ground that is in Equestria! Besides there might be an afterlife so that might not happen at all! We all might gain immortality so it wont happen. Either way dont worry about it." Rarity exclaimed lovingly.

As Twilight listened to this she was still feeling sad but she also felt better about it. She realized that it wasnt all doom and gloom. She hugged Rarity.

"Thank you so much Rarity....I'm glad you were here to comfort me." Twilight said.

"Your welcome. I'll always comfort you when you want it." Rarity said. After they hugged for a bit more they stopped hugging and they hung out in the golden oaks library for the rest of the day.
