Again, first fic, so, just sorta doing whatever the fuck I want here. I know that's not how they were related in the show, these characters, but then again, I'm mixing this shit with Diablo. Crazy stuff is gonna happen. I'm trying to avoid just doing a name-swapped version of the plot of Diablo, but no promises. Prologue Equestria - Canterlot - 247 A.B. (After Binding) Things were all right in Equestria. I mean, there was a social depression, some northern king was going absolutely batshit crazy, and there's evidence of some ancient demon hidden under the Temple of the Sun Goddess breaking loose. But, you know, it could be worse. I could be writing this story. Wait, I am. Guess things can't get worse. Around this time, a group of three "Children of Destiny" or something were born. They were Celestia, Luna, and Cadence. Princess Celestia, the child of that one northern king, eventually grew up to be a deeply troubled warrior, who's got a very dysfunctional family. Luna was raised among the eastern mage group known as the Vizjerei, and became quite the powerful sorceress, but a bit foolhardy. Meanwhile, Cadence was born into the Sisterhood of the Sightless Eye, a group of rogues who live in the west, and became a very boring person. Right now, King Sombra of the Crystal Empire was seemingly going insane. He had once been a kind, fair king, much loved by his subjects, but recently, he has been trapped in the grips of some illness that none could identify. His health deteriorating, the man became a tyrant, petty executions and meaningless wars left and right. The citizens of the Crystal Empire grew worried for their king, but scared into submission, none dared to investigate. Yeah, same crazy king, get over it. Anyhow, there were also some rumors going 'round town in Canterlot that this ancient demon known as Diablo was somehow influencing the king. Abductions have been going down too, along with the occasional dead guardspony/peon being found on the edge of town, with numerous "Diablesque" symbols carved into their flesh, and their innards already devoured by small, sharp fangs. Not pony teeth, although that too would be disturbing, but fangs. Time passed by, things got worse, more dead ponies found around, and the story truly begins, with the disappearance of Prince Blueblood... GAME I - ACT I - Chapter I - RazeSomething has gone wrong. Those were the happiest words of her life. Finally, she would be part of the mage-clan she had been raised among, capable of casting the most arcane of magics, re-writing reality to her own tastes, sending the laws of physics out the window, and playing with the most fundamental laws of nature as if it were her own personal sandbox. She arose from her knees, a true Sorceress. "Before you may access our grand libraries or receive proper tutelage, you must first prove your worth to us," said the withered old bastard who dared call himself the Leader of the Vizjerei, Grandmaster Radament. After a brief moment of him dozing off against his staff for what must be the sixty-ninth time this day alone, Radament jumped awake, provoked by a loud cough. "Uh, yes, you must travel far to the West, and explore that ruckus in, uh, Candyland. Wait, I mean, Cardhuntria... No, that's not right..." Following a few moments of his muttering to himself, and Luna growing increasingly more impatient, the deep-blue alicorn rolled her eyes and offered "Canterlot?" "AH! Yes, Kantos region. Go there, find out what's going on, and help out if you can. Come back when you are done, and then you can do the whatever you want here..." Radament began to shuffle off to his room, loudly shouting "AND NOW IT'S TIME FOR MY NAP!" Luna was about fed up with the old dumbass. Barely keeping her temper under control, she made it outside before unleashing a wall-rattling scream, and stomping off to Warriv's caravan. At least he was good company... Author's Note To those of you who have played D2, keep the spoilers to yourselves for now, please. And I decided to cut this chapter into three parts, to keep the length down. Might merge the three together once I've got them all finished. GAME I - ACT I - Chapter II - Unite (2/3)(Country) - (Town) - 249 A.B. Cadance OKAY. GONNA DO THIS NOW. I CAN DO IT. NOT GONNA SCREW THIS MISSION UP. Don't want a repeat of last time, when I let my guard down while protecting that one studly stallion... But, by the gods, it was the best fu- NOPE. KEEP ON TRACK, CADANCE. LET'S DO THIS! As a pink and purple alicorn made her way to the office of Kashya, she was reminiscing of good times long gone, and what her next assignment might be. Cadance was a bit, no, a LOT of a nympho. That kinda made it hard to send her out to do literally anything. Can't even get the groceries without ending up in the back closet with at least three different ponies of mixed genders. With more than a few stares and winks and catcalls and what-have-yous on the way there, Cadance stepped inside. "You wanted to see me?" "Yes. There's some activity in Canterlot, go check it out, and for the love of Celestia, stop sleeping with everything that moves..." replied a very exasperated and stressed Kashya. The stacks of paperwork everywhere might have shed a touch of insight upon her mental state. Cadance stood bolt-upright, and saluted, "MA'AM, YES, MISTR- MA'AM!" And with that, she left for Canterlot, magically not getting distracted and sidetracked to the bedroom once. The wagon ride there was long, bumpy for all the wrong reasons, and quite boring. As the landscape grew increasingly desolate, a general feeling of... wrongness overtook Cadance. Having visited the kind city more than once before, she had a rather nostalgic view of the place, as a shining capital of good and decency, a town where nobody goes hungry, or is homeless. But when they finally arrived, the vision that greeted them seemed to be pure nightmare, born unto reality... Author's Note God fuck, finally I got this out. It was about time.
