Life begins with a Thought
Street lights begin to power down as the sun begins its slow ascent. It was quiet, the people of Canterlot still resting.
All except a certain purple haired girl.
After thanking the librarian,Twilight begins her journey to the bus station. Pulling her phone out of her pocket, she looks down to check the time, and sees that it’s half past seven in the morning. Sighing, she put the phone back in her pocket and continues walking. ‘I can’t believe I let myself fall asleep again, mom is gonna kill me.’ she thought.
Reaching back, she secures the books and paper stored away in her backpack. ’At least I have a better excuse this time...’ As she thought back to when Rainbow Dash convinced her to go to that party, only to pass out within an hour, and woke up to see her parents with the most disapproving stares that only a parent can perform. Or that time when Pinkie asked her to help plan the 26th anniversary of the Sugarcube Corner and she ended up dropping her phone into the cake mix. It’s not her fault that she accidentally called the police while she was baking, causing the Cakes to spend their anniversary in a jail cell.
Finally, after her trip down memory lane, she had reached the bus stop. She went to sit down, only for someone to tell her to stop.
Looking around, she notice a man standing in a well looking suit. “I wouldn’t do that if I was you.” He stated, pointing out the puddle of water from today’s earlier rain.
"Right...” she said sheepishly, rubbing the back of her head. How could she already forget the reason she had to stay at the library, and how she almost got caught in the downpour walking home. Looking back at the man, she reaches her hands out. ”Thanks. I’m Twilight.”
“Twilight as in Twilight Sparkle, one of the nine students from Canterlot High to get a full ride to R.S.A.” He stated.
“Yeah.” she replied "I didn't know they make a big deal about it…”
“Well they do when, aside from your classmates, only two others got accepted into one of, if not the best schools in all of Equestria, not counting you and the eight others”. He stated, grabbing her hand to shake it. “It’s a pleasure to meet you”.
Blushing at the complement, she shakes his hand. “Ditto.” Letting go of his hand, she looks down the road to see bus lights down the road.
Walking in front of him she points her hand out to the road ahead, “Hey, here comes the bus. By the way, where are you from, mister?”
Turning around to face him she sees a blunt object collide with her face, knocking her off her feet. Her head pulsing with pain, she only managed to spot her glasses on the pavement before blacking out.
In a different time and place...
Her head was pounding as she tried to remember what last occurred. Twilight opens her eyes to see a row of lights that was that disappearing and appearing. Moving her head, she looks to see a man was moving her across something. Her eyes light up in realization that it was the man from the bus station. ’What the hell is going on?’ She tries to call to him, but all that came was muffled noise. Taking a moment, she discovered that the lower part of her face was masked and muffled, like a muzzle on a dog. After the feeling returned to her limbs, she pulled and tug at her bonds to free herself. ’I gotta get out of here, I gotta escape-’
Failing, she begins to tire out and her vision goes to black.
Waking up, she notices that her mask is gone, but as a replacement she sees that she is strapped to a machine, with her head locked into place. Twilight briefly wondered if this could be a downgrade to her previous situation. Taking the time to catch her breath, she notices the back of her neck was in searing pain. Looking around, she sees the man from earlier in a lab coat, and wearing rubber gloves covered in blood.
“Hey! What the hell is going on here, and why the fuck are your hands covered in blood!?” she shouted, huffing as she looks the man with all the hate and anger she could sum up.
The man looks back at her with a bored expression, sighing. "It’s a shame that you ended up here, you had great potential. Now, if you're wondering...yes, I took you. But not out of vengeance or animosity. You just happened to be, as the saying goes, in the wrong place at the wrong time.” Taking off his bloody gloves, he continues speaking. ”Now, as for the reason why I took you, it’s so I can complete my project.” He made his way behind a monitor “And to complete said project, I require resources. Resources that I have no legal means of acquiring.” he continued.
“You're going to kill me!” she panicked. “Oh no, no no, oh no-!” cried Twilight .
‘I can’t die like this! I have a future, friends, and family waiting for me!’
“Twilight! I’m not going to kill you. There is no need for that. Besides, I need you alive for your brain.” the man stated, as he began pressing buttons.
“What?” It was then she felt pain surging throughout her body, images of her life flashing before her eyes. The time she rode her first bike, when she meet her first friend, the time when her parents got locked out of the house and they had to break in by slamming down the door, when she got her acceptance letter to R.S.A.
Everything was flashing before her, until she couldn’t take it and black out once more.
Looking up form his monitor he looks at Twilight in a worrying manner. ‘Hmm, she lasted longer than the others. I hope she provides the rest of the data I need.’
Pressing a few buttons, the machine turns off and latches that held Twilight’s face released her. Walking over to her unconscious form, he turned her head to the side. ’It’s truly a shame that such a bright mind happened to cross my path, before I was finished. She truly would have been excellent to work with. Truly unfortunate. However, I've come too far, with too little time left, to let this all come to waste.’
“I hope you're prepared, Twilight...” he says as he slides a finger across a stitched part of her neck that appears to be glowing an emerald green hue. ”Because you’ll do excellent for my project...”
